The first version was initially introducing the French Army fighting against terrorist organizations all over the world (hence the French name Opérations Extérieures - means External Operations). This new version now allows players to chose among several armies, depending on enabled extra mods ! AUTHOR'S NOTE Bonjour ! I have to be honest, OPEX has totally be inspired by MSO from ArmA II. After I have tried it, I thought the idea of a dynamic task generator was brilliant, but some features were not perfectly fitting to what I was expecting for and some others were missing. So firstly, I tried to customize the original MSO but finally I chose to rebuild everything from scratch. After more than 8 years of development (yeah, really !), and even if there are still many things to do, it's now time for sharing all I have did so far ! MAIN FEATURES Made by Gemini Mission that required more than 2000 hours of learning, experimentations and development (project started in 2012) SP and MP compatible (from 1 to 50 players) Unique immersive and realist atmosphere Select the theater of operations (Europe, Middle-East, Africa...), your army (France, USA, Russia, UK, Spain, Czechia...) and the opponents (Taliban, Islamic State, Boko Haram, generic ultranationalists...) - extra mods may be required to get all options (see below) Entirely built with random parameters for generating unpredictible situations and unlimited replayability Custom menu at startup to enable/disable/set main mission features Plenty of things to do: select a specific task (among more than 20 available), patrol to find and fight the enemy, locate and destroy weapon caches, neutralize IEDs, search buildings and interrogate local people to gather intel, capture opponents... KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES Picture "pictures\overview.paa" not found at startup when joining server despite the picture is present in the mission folder, I don't know how to fix this. Some vehicles are sometimes exploding when spawning because collision detection is not reliable at 100% despite I'm trying to improve BI's commands as much as possible. Ambient AI animations may sometimes be weired when playing on MP.   2. Hey guys. Today I'm happy to announce to development of Conflict '85. A re-imagining and recreation of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. Conflict '85 was born out the CUP project as I created Russian and FIA units in the style of OFP units. From there the ideas grew and grew. Re-imaging: There's a lot of military hardware from 1985 that would fit sweetly into the OFP timeline. I aim to bring a unique yet fitting armory of vehicles and weapons into the fold. We'll get into a few examples later. Recreation OFP is a game adored by those who played here, those who yearn for that era one more time. There were vehicles and weapons in OFP that perhaps shouldn't have been used. (I'm looking at you OT-65) yet why the hell not have them back in A3. While a lot of vehicles don't exist right now.     Ghost Hawk Gaming Who are we? Semi-Serious Milsim based in the US. We focus on fun and semi-realism. Variety of squad options for custom missions run every Saturday. How we play We play every Saturday at 9pm EST and host custom ops made by the community. We like to focus on having fun and completing the mission. We are a semi-serious community. There are hundreds of squad options for each person to pick during every op. We primarily play against AI-controlled opposition, led by a human Zeus. We have a variety of squads ranging from PLATOON down to KINGFISH (Boats) with lots of units to pick from in each. We do not use any “Yes, sir!” / “No, sir!” or forced RP in our community. We do not play scenarios that are realistic for realism’s sake alone; At no point will you have to man an observation post for three hours while nothing happens just because it would be realistic. Every session is followed by a 5-15 minute debrief, where we evaluate our playstyle, behavior, improvements, etc. Besides our regular sessions, we also have a Training server where several of our members play around with each other, and the occasional op run by one of the officers for people who want to play during the week.   4. Take back the oil drilling location that is currently captured by ISIS forces. This should be a quick operation. They will not see it coming. I wanted to create a scenario that would be fun to play once or twice and without minimal frustrations. It's not the hardest mission if you time the attack correctly. You have to start the operation with radio Alpha. You will hear a radio message and a feed when they are moving in. You have time to choose the M14 rifle with scope instead of the HK416 you start with. Some more goodies can be accessed at the supply crate near the spawn. Have fun!     NATO UNIT OVERHAUL

    What is this mod? This mod Improves the way the default NATO soldiers look in the game by replacing them with gear already existing in the game, as well as some slighlty retextured helmets. I aimed for them to look like how they were in the alpha, beta and release candidate of the game. I mainly did this by making the Enhanced combat helmet the norm compared to the combat helmet as I personally think they look alot better and suit the 2035 setting alot more. I also restricted the use of the Carrier special rig and GL Rig to certain roles as I think they were over used and I personally dont like them as I think they're "too chubby". I also retextured the ECH and LCH slightly by adding a US flag so they look like they did in the Pre-alpha version of Arma 3. Why download this mod? Small file size - 17.7 mb! Better looking units that work on any mission. New retextured helmets to incorporate US flag while not compromising the normal ones so you can still use them for other missions. This is my first mod I've ever made, so while its only small and simple, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Background It was originally formed shortly after the United States' entry into World War II and was modeled after the British Commandos during the war. Members from the unit were the first American soldiers to see combat in the European theater when they participated in the failed raid on Dieppe in France in 1942, during which three Rangers were killed and several more were captured. Later, the 1st Ranger Battalion was sent to North Africa where they participated in the landings in Algeria and the fighting in Tunisia in 1943. Also in 1943 the unit provided cadre for two more Ranger battalions created between the campaigns in Sicily and Italy. Origins The 1st US Army Ranger Battalion was founded in late April, 2018. It is a subgroup of a larger gaming community, known as "Splinter Cell Gaming". Purpose The 1st US Army Ranger Battalion is focused on providing an effective atmosphere for those who wish to immerse themselves into the Second World War era, from the perspective of a member of the 1st Rangers. Operations Operations with the 1st US Army Ranger Battalion will occur in two major "types". Miniature operations, occurring spontaneously throughout the week, will be minor missions. Examples of such are stealing intelligence or destroying an enemy outpost.   16. The road to Lolosalam is heavily mined. In order to restore access for our forces and build rapport with the local populace we have initiated a clearing operation. As an EOD specialist you will be attached to the lead element. Your job is to clear mines when requested to do so in order to facilitate mission fulfillment. Following this mission you will spend the night in the hills surrounding Lolosalam. In the morning you will RTB. Your callsign will be 'Keymaster'. You will be attached to a small fireteam codenamed 'Seeker'. Following you will be two rifle squads codenamed 'Reaper' and 'Slayer' respectively. Headquarters callsign is 'Crossroads'. This is a very basic mission with very little scripting, but it feels really good and almost like you're really on a deployment. You (and up to 3 of your friends) are EOD specialists in the United States Army and are attached to a fireteam which will lead and assist you. You need to move in a convoy of 3 MRAPs to the city of Lolosalam, securing the path along the way for more troops to follow in your wake. You ride in the front MRAP while the two MRAPs following behind you contain regular U.S. Army rifle squads to support the ultimate Lolosalam objective. You start at the base by an arsenal box. Get whatever gear you need out of there and then go to the front of the base and get in the lead MRAP. Don't worry about the fireteam leader bitching at you over the radio, they will never leave without you because they need you. All you have to do is concentrate on your job. The AI will (should) do their job without you having to babysit them. They will order you from time to time to defuse or destroy an IED blocking the path of the vehicles. After you're satisfied that the area is safe get back in the MRAP and the convoy will start moving again. If you ever come under fire or are attacked simply retreat to the MRAP and re-assess the situation. If you have to clear a path of IEDs while under fire it is easiest to simply detonate them with an explosive charge. The front MRAP has a decent supply of these explosive charges for dealing with the IEDs. Be careful because some IEDs are dual-charges and are designed to kill EOD. This usually takes the form of an anti-personnel landmine placed on top of or near the main IED. Use your eyeballs and be cautious. This mission starts out very slow and boring because not much happens at first. There are long periods of driving through the mountains looking at the sights and listening to music, but the Taliban are always watching you. If you look closely in the hills you may see them planning your future demise. As you get closer to Lolosalam, that dreaded city, more and more activity will start popping up. Your troops should deal with the enemy most of the time (as long as they can find/see them) and will even call in air support to help level the playing field. This all plays out over sidechat radio. To actually win the mission and end the game you just have to clear the way and let the two rifle squads do their patrol around Lolosalam. They will inform you of further developments. No Taliban can be in or near Lolosalam. You can make the Taliban retreat without having to hunt down and kill every last one. If they feel like they're getting fucked up they'll run into the hills to regroup, just like real life. This mission can be completed without taking a single U.S. casualty, but one wrong move can also instantly take the lives of about 40 people. Possible glitches/bugs you may encounter: - Vehicles falling off mountains - A-10's crashing during CAS runs - No lag during most of the mission but a lot of lag inside of Lolosalam Top two are caused because of the nature of the map Clafghan and its extremely steep slopes. I did everything I could to kind of code around it though, so it should be okay most of the time. The last one is simply in regards to your CPU and possibly RAM. I've had two people play this same exact mission and one had 120 FPS the whole game, the other had 120 FPS and then about 15 FPS once they entered Lolosalam. This seems to be okay for most people. If you need to turn it down the host or any logged in admin should be able to access the debug menu in-game in multiplayer. Simply type "setviewdistance NUMBER;setobjectviewdistance NUMBER" and hit global exec or something and it should change it for everyone.   17. Navajo Lake State Park - Old West Map Description: Recently I've started creating map for my Wild West sandbox - Old West. Navajo Lake State Park is a namesake of a place in USA, New-Mexico. It's 1024x1024 m. It takes place in the mid 19th century, in a time of Wild West era. Geography: It has a big lake named Navajo. Also has mountains, deserts, semi-arid areas and even a little snow! There will be built little towns, farms, villages and also some of the Native American tribes. Plans: Fix map terrain. Update new sat map to a high-quality one (very boring and not necessary).   18. Who are we?- We are a milsim group in Arma 3 founded by a core group of friends that have been together for years now. We pride ourselves in our ability to create a serious and structured environment, while also still goofing around and having fun with Arma 3. We base ourselves mainly off of the real Rangers from the USA, with alterations to accept Arma as a platform. Our mods will be given to you once you have been accepted as a recruit. We use steam workshop, I have specially compiled all our mods into a convenient modpack for ease of use. What are our events?- We have a selection of events. Campaign Main Ops, Side Ops, Trainings, and Practice ops. Campaign Main Ops- Our only mandatory event is every Friday at 6pm EST. The campaigns are what our unit is designed for. This is where we are at our fullest, and most serious. The Campaigns are based on a map, and have its own story. Each op is persistent, so your choices and actions matter in the later ops. We will always be Rangers in these ops. Side Ops- Side ops are fully optional, and not scheduled. These are less serious, but still require people to adhere to our rules. We could be the french, british, germans, anything in our modpack we can be in side ops. Trainings- We split our trainings into phase one and phase two. All trainings are on every Sunday at 1pm EST. As a recruit, you can not come to any op until you have done at least a phase one. Once you completed phase one, you may come to side ops. Once you have completed phase two, you are a full member and may come to any op. Practice Ops- Practice ops are designed to be the same as a campaign op, but no campaign attached to it. These are for people who want to pratice their leading skills, machine gun capability, etc. Practice ops are mainly for us to train future Fire Team Leaders, and possible Squad Leaders.
