DESCRIPTION OPEX is an immersive, realist and fully dynamic task generator for ArmA III military simulator. The first version was initially introducing the French Army fighting against terrorist organizations all over the world (hence the French name Opérations Extérieures - means External Operations). This new version now allows players to chose among several armies, depending on enabled extra mods ! AUTHOR'S NOTE Bonjour ! I have to be honest, OPEX has totally be inspired by MSO from ArmA II. After I have tried it, I thought the idea of a dynamic task generator was brilliant, but some features were not perfectly fitting to what I was expecting for and some others were missing. So firstly, I tried to customize the original MSO but finally I chose to rebuild everything from scratch. After more than 8 years of development (yeah, really !), and even if there are still many things to do, it's now time for sharing all I have did so far ! MAIN FEATURES Made by Gemini Mission that required more than 2000 hours of learning, experimentations and development (project started in 2012) SP and MP compatible (from 1 to 50 players) Unique immersive and realist atmosphere Select the theater of operations (Europe, Middle-East, Africa...), your army (France, USA, Russia, UK, Spain, Czechia...) and the opponents (Taliban, Islamic State, Boko Haram, generic ultranationalists...) - extra mods may be required to get all options (see below) Entirely built with random parameters for generating unpredictible situations and unlimited replayability Custom menu at startup to enable/disable/set main mission features Plenty of things to do: select a specific task (among more than 20 available), patrol to find and fight the enemy, locate and destroy weapon caches, neutralize IEDs, search buildings and interrogate local people to gather intel, capture opponents... Some vehicles are sometimes exploding when spawning because collision detection is not reliable at 100% despite I'm trying to improve BI's commands as much as possible. Ambient AI animations may sometimes be weired when playing on MP.   2. Scottish Highlands [Alpha] is now available! See bottom of this post for the link to the Steam workshop. Scottish Highlands takes you to North-West Scotland, focusing on the hills and valleys around Loch Eil, only a few miles from the Largest mountain in Scotland, Ben Nevis. This area has an interesting mix of topography. Coastal areas are flat and broken up by villages, tall hedgerows and fields, whilst the less populated inland is mainly large valleys and hills with tight twisting roads, intertwined by dense forests. You'll get some interesting air combat with this map.. that is, once I place down an airstrip 🙂 For now helis will have to do! Roadmap: Alpha 1.1 is now available This next update will bring a much more lively and completed Ardgour region. This area has 3 Lochs, a castle ruin, varied forestry, marshlands, and multiple villages and settlements. I've also made some touch-ups and bug fixes. I'm also happy to announce that Sullen Skies by EO will be integrated into the terrain. This means you won't need to download an extra mod to get the true dreek Scottish experience. (Big thanks to EO!). Full release - I obviously cannot give an accurate release date for this, however, I do not want this map to just sit in an alpha condition for eternity, therefore I have set a goal for the full release to be done within 2020. I found that the original 5KMx5KM was just not big enough, especially as the surrounding areas had such interesting terrain. General Equipment and Accessories (GEAR) includes several items such as uniforms and equipments aimed at accurately depicting the US military in WW2, such as field jackets, web gear, and a wide array of helmets. everything comes in several variations enough to make each person in a squad looks different to one another, while keeping things historical accurate at the same time.   6. YouTube Advert: Who are we? Zeus Community, an open community which has been playing Arma since the OFP days in 2001. Our Teamspeak server is our primary home with more information available via our website, forum and Discord channel. Links provided below. What should I expect on your server? We strive for Milsim oriented gameplay. In the hierarchical command structure, players are expected to follow the orders of their superiors and take responsibility of their subordinates. Communication and teamwork is key. Lone-wolfing, purposely ignoring commands, and other selfish behaviours will not be tolerated. We do employ some basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and radio procedures for the sake of efficiency but nothing overly complex which can't be understood quickly while playing. We play mostly cooperative (PvE) missions at platoon scale (around 30 players) though we have been known to play Team vs Team (PvP) missions on occasion. How many ArmA 3 servers do you run? Two main game servers: One “vanilla” public server and one “addon” server. The vanilla public server is open to anyone interested in milsim gameplay, experienced or new, as long as you don’t break server rules of course. For the public server, there is not a mandatory mod requirement though we do often play missions which require official DLC such as Apex for the Tanoa terrain. However, it is strongly recommended that players to connect to our Teamspeak server (even if you don't have a mic) since we use Teamspeak for pre-mission briefing, post-mission debriefing, and on-mission squad comms (instead of group/green channel). We also recommend that players install our optional custom modpack called "ZClient" which includes very useful clientside mods such as ShackTac HUD (see Info Repo link below). On the other hand, the addon server requires all players to have a working mic and installation of our custom addon server modpacks which includes gameplay enhancing mods such as ACE3, ACRE 2, RHS, additional terrains and more. It is recommended that newcomers try out our vanilla public server before considering moving on to our addon server where gameplay is slightly more hardcore (e.i. always revive vs permanent death). What times do you play? Zeus Community #1 Public: Gamenight every Sunday & Thursday, start 18:30 UK time (GMT/BST) Zeus Community #2 Addon: Gamenight every Saturday & Wednesday, start 18:00 UK time (GMT/BST) Why should I choose Zeus Community? Milsim gameplay but without the role-playing fluff. While the missions we run on our servers do employ a hierarchical command structure, the community itself (outside of gameplay) does not have player ranking, role whitelisting, or any other unnecessary RP fluff like some other milsim communities. No need for "Sir! Yes sir!". No mandatory training or minimum attendance required. We are an open community so we don't punish players if they happen to have a busy life and can't commit to playing games on a regular basis. We only ask that you don't slot into mission critical roles (e.g. squad leader, pilot, etc.) for a mission if there is a reasonable chance that you may have to go AFK for significant periods of time. Also, although we do employ basic SOPs, radio comm procedures, and we do organise optional training sessions, we don't require newcomers to undergo mandatory training before they can play. Just listen to your leaders, follow the example of more experienced players and you will quickly familiarise yourself with how we operate. In-community developed, custom missions. Using the 3den Editor tool, 99% of the missions we run on our servers are developed by the community, for the community. While we do allow our community’s developers creative freedom, we still maintain quality standards for our missions. Do note that, despite a coincidence in the name, we actually rarely play Zeus Game Master missions (our community name predates ArmA 3's ZGM gamemode). High frequency of brand new missions to play. Most milsim communities are stuck with a relatively small pool of missions to replay for months where new missions are produced on an infrequent basis. Our community on the other hand, benefits from a combined pool of around 600+ missions and produces an average of 5 brand new missions across both servers each week for the community to play. Mission diversity. Unlike many other milsim communities, we don't limit ourselves to particular factions, equipment, vehicles or mission objectives. In one mission you may be a guerrilla fighter with limited equipment tasked with ambushing an enemy convoy, and then in the next mission you may be a tank crewman in a combined arms scenario with CAS and artillery support. Even revive or respawn mechanics (or lack thereof) can differ between missions. Diversity is the spice of life.   7. STAF - Private Military Company (Since 2013) Who we are: We are STAF - Private Military Company. Our group originated in 2013 playing ArmA 2 but switched to ArmA 3 in its Beta Phase. We are based in Europe. Due to that our Standard time Zone is: GMT+2 Summer Time or GMT+1 Winter Time. Missions are usually issued on Saturdays with Wednesday missions also being a possibility. As a Private Military Company fulfill contract in order to earn money for new equipment. That means we don't have access to a full arsenal and all assets in game but have to unlock these first. With this being said our missions run around a time to suit a majority. We are a mature group but also all get along really well and can have some good banter. The community plays with an relaxed approach towards playing “realism missions” and being part of the “realism community”. Recruits are gentlemen that had just joined the unit and hadn't completed their basic training course yet. Recruits have low priority in different matters - Privates have priority over them. Basic special (non-branch) roles such as machine gunners can be taken as long as a Private ranked member isn't interested in filling that position during the operation. A recruit should never be afraid to ask different game related matters, such as procedures or game mechanics. Recruits become Guardsmen upon completion of their Basic training.   21. 501st Infantry Regiment The 501st IR was created in June of 2017 by a group of men & woman with the goal to create a U.S. Army Realism unit with the same quality and feel of some of the great American units out there, but specifically in range for most European time zones. EU Based Milsim Unit A European Time Zone (CET) Realism Unit based on the US Army Airborne. That’s unique on it's own! The 501st IR conducts operations every Wednesday and Sunday starting from 19:30 to 22:30 Central European Time. Our mission makers create specific campaigns and scenarios for our members to enjoy with an ever developing storyline. OSUT (One Station Unit Training) A training schedule set up so everyone will be able to join our ARMA 3 unit as a trained soldier, based on real tactics and theory from the U.S. Army mixed with in-game mechanics.   23. About us Task Force Team Six is a fictional MilSim unit made for Arma. The unit exists out of multiple people from different countries such as The Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, Israel and other areas around the world. Our goal is to create a multinational Task Force that will act as a global crisis response team meaning that this gives us a wide variety of missions/operations to choose from. From Hostage Rescue to Search and Destroy to Amphibious Assaults we'll be there for all of them and more. What do we do? Our operations are based on scenarios that have/could happen in today's world and are created by our own skilled members meaning that they are all unique to TSIX and you won't find them in any other community. Each operation and campaign that makes it to the unit include a solid backstory and members of the unit will be given not only a briefing before but also each will have the chance to give an after action report to get feedback on how future operations could be improved. All recruits who join our unit are taken through our basic training that is taught by our dedicated team of instructors. The training will include ACE Interactions and Functions, Infantry Movement such as formations and drills, Close Quarters Combat, Basic Medical Training to help save not only your own lives but also the guy next to you, and much more. After being apart of the unit for some time as well as showing dedication and commitment to the unit members can be specialised in the different roles in the group such as; Medic, Light Machine Gunner, Marksman, Engineer. The roles that where mentioned are only a few of what members can specialise in and later down the road they could potentially be promoted to have more responsibility within the unit such as their own squads or even training recruits!
