  1. Who are we? The 160th SOR is one of Oceania’s largest, Arma 3 MilSim unit that prides itself on our sense of community and dedication to the game and each other. We have 3 main regiments that recruits can join they are; 28th Infantry Regiment, 69th Armored Regiment and finally the 101st Air regiment. Each regiment has a team of dedicated leaders and trainers to help ensure that everyone gets the best experience and advice as possible. What do we do? Every week, the 160th run two major operations. The official operations are held on a Wednesday and on a Sunday, both at 18:30 Sydney time (AEST/AEDT depending) with an average turnout of over 40 players. The 160th use a wide range of mods, including assets from ArmA 3 Apex, to enhance the gameplay experience. Favorite mods such as RHS, ACE3 and TFAR are in our pack, as well as some custom mods. To help grow and improve our members, weekly training is held to teach various in-game skills that help players to become a more effective member of the 160th, as well as growing their potential. Each training is lead by hand-picked and highly skilled trainers that have run their specific training course multiple times. In between major Operations and training sessions, various community members run their own unofficial operations, as well as play other games such as Eco, Factorio, Squad, etc. The 160th is primarily a MilSim Unit but we still function as a gaming community. The 160th does have a few requirements for new members to join, these are: - All applicants must be 17 years or older to be successfully accepted. - You must have prior experience with the ArmA series. - Arma 3 Apex DLC is needed to play on the 160th - Applicants need to be able to take part in Official ops when possible - Applicants can not have a ping of 285 ms or higher - You must have a clear microphone. - You must have TeamSpeak 3. - You must read the rules before applying. - You will require ArmA3Sync and roughly 25Gb of hard disk capacity in order to download the modset.   2. INTRODUCTION 4th Special Forces Group (Airborne) is a community that aims to provide simulated operations. The higher objective of which is to create an environment which is conducive to allow growth of its members mentally in teamwork, leadership, and morality. OVERVIEW The 4SFG-A Milsim Unit is organized like a Special Forces Group with a Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 75th Ranger Regiment (75RR), 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (160th SOAR). For our purposes the Headquarters and Headquarters Company houses the SFG HQ, H & S Company, Operational Detachment Alpha 4112 (ODA4112), and our Combat Control Teams. The 75th Ranger Regiment consists of an Infantry component, We utilize the 3rd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, the “Renegades”, as our Ground core. The 160th SOAR(A) is composed of one battalion include the 1/160 which flies the AH-6, MH-6, MH-60K, MH-60L DAP and MH-47 Chinook. WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER 1. Respect and professional gameplay 2. The Wrecking Crew The Wrecking Crew is a realism group that prides itself in its dedication to realistic and enjoyable game play, without the rigid aspects like permanent ranks and having to shout "Yes, sir" at a 14 year old. While we play mostly as British Forces to make coherent training possible, we have a whole host of players who come from all over the world, some as far out as Malaysia and South Africa. You select the role you'd like each week for our editor-driven operations, as long as you are competent and prove yourself by passing the required training sessions for that role, with some not requiring any. This allows you to vary from leading a platoon one week to driving a tank the next. The freedom to experience so many different types of game play without hindrance on the co-operation & enjoyability is something you will struggle to find in most other ArmA groups. Public Server If you would like to experience first hand what it's like to play with TWC, come join us on our public server. It runs different dynamic game modes made entirely in-house with a more relaxed game play than in our operations, but it will still give you a good insight in the community and play style. You don't need to sign up to participate on our public server, just the mods and to connect to our TeamSpeak server. We've created an easy to follow guide on how to get connected here. About our Operations Alongside a public server that runs 24/7, the biggest event our group hosts are weekly 'Operations' with between 20 to 40 people. As well as the occasional 'Joint Operation' with other groups which have encompassed up to 70 people total. Our operations span over a century of warfare, with a monthly rotation of World War 2, Cold War, Turn of the Millennium and Modern Operations. This means that in one month you can liberate a French town from Nazi occupation, halt a Soviet mechanised assault in the plains of Northern Germany, brawl with Iraqi armour in the deserts of Kuwait and patrol through the hills of Afghanistan, searching for insurgents. In these operations any recruit or member can play any role as long as he has received the corresponding training. In our operations we strive for maximum realism. We find real-life solutions for problems that we may face in game, while omitting more tedious parts of military duty like saluting, hour-long marches and range etiquette. We aim for the most immersive experience possible by having minimal HUD, first person only, a single life and using ACRE 2 for communications.   5. What is our unit? The Essex Regiment is a Second World War UK based unit that attempts to recreate a realistic portrayal of the British military during the mid 20th century period. We are a serious milsim, meaning that when on operations, members should be serious and follow designated procedures. The Essex Regiment focuses mainly on conventional warfare, meaning most missions will be lively and kinetic. Occasionally we may also perform counter-insurgencies and other less conventional operations. The Essex Regiment uses a rank system based on the British Army during the Second World War period. In our unit, players will receive promotions and commendations based on their merit and dedication with the unit and not solely based on their role. This means that members will be rewarded for their capability, knowledge and time devoted to the unit. Who is our unit based on? We are based on the Essex Regiment. It fought during many of the different campaigns throughout the Second World War. From the battle of France in 1940 until the fall of Germany in 1945. Our unit won't strictly follow all the campaigns followed by the Essex Regiment as we feel that campaigns such as Norway and Burma and others set in the final days of Empire will allow for differentiation in combat and environment. However the unit will try to stick as close as possible while keeping game-play fun and engaging and will undertake campaigns in a chronological order of events mirroring the events of the Second World War and its immediate aftermath. When do we play? We have two events a week. We conduct exercises and training on thursdays at 2000 GMT (in summer this changes to GMT+1) and operations on sunday at 2000 GMT (again changing to GMT+1 in Summer). How can I join? If you're interested in joining our unit, you must be of 16 years of age or above. If you are below 16, it is possible that you may still join the unit but you must have a mature attitude. The interview process will take a bit longer as your place in the unit will be discussed with other interviewers. Be aware that if you are caught lying about your age after being accepted into the unit, you will be removed from the unit. We perform a range of different operations from stealth insertions to military patrols allowing our members to experience more than one type of warfare, something most units don’t achieve. To gain a specialized role you may be required to complete a specialization training which with teach the basics of the role you will fill.   13. Hi, I just created this account (for now) to make some noise about this thing that i'm missing for so long. We need simple vanilla flashlights.. at least I really wish there were some... I remember the first time I started playing arma 3... at that time there was only one map to chose, wich was Stratis. I joined a server and it was night. It was pitchblack, except for that impressive lightbeam coming from the lighthouse. And the lights far away from some houses, I loved it. Well meanwile I tend to play a lot on Altis Life servers, which are really fun on their own way. I really like the roleplaying part of it. On these servers you start of as a civilian, doing what a "civilian" does,... farm, farm and farm. Anyways, after night falls, gameplay could be really interesting especialy because you can't see anything without light. But... alas, we only have two options when it comes to take a walk in the dark. Being armed with a gun equiped with a flashlight or wear nightvision goggles and there fades the ambiance... I remember when I was a kid, I had that old military flashlight that had like 2 or 3 levers, you could either go with full light and be seen by the enemies from far away or you could pull a lever so most of the light would be cut off, only a small lightbeam would go through a slit covering only a small area in front of you. Then there were the other levers in which you could put a red or green filter. I really loved this flashlight. I remember doing some mors code with it. :) I like to imagine a scenario where noone would have acces to nightvision and would rely merely on flashlights to be seen by the enemy if not carefull or see the enemy from far away. Or one having to use his flashlight with a filter in order to check his map for navigation. I'm sure this is feasable, consider this a wish to the devs team. Please make it happen!! :)

  22. What is it? Introduction... Some of you may already know I was working on such project. It was delayed, postponed because of lack of time, it has required more analysis and conception than planned... but, today, here we are. First, if you're wondering if it's the same tool released yesterday in the dev branch of Poseidon Tools: Yes, it is! The Community Tools Updater is a very simple application able to check if the supported tools need to be updated/installed. If an update is needed, it downloads the new version from a depot maintained by the tool author(s) and install the newer version without asking a single question. The main purpose is to provide to the modding community a simple method to install/update the tools they need without being forced to hunt news on all over the web and take the risk to download an outdated version (I saw this many times with Poseidon Tools). More, the risk of installing an outdated version is avoided by a simple fact: It's the tool maker that update the depot with his work, not a random person. You may recognize some tools made by the community veteran Mikero and some other made by me. For users... Usage is very simple, just download it, extract where you want and use it :) In short-term, the updater will update itself when needed, but for the moment, you just need to take a look at this topic or the depot. It downloads the depot manifest at startup, then checks for updates. Once it's started, you can: Explore the local depot (place where all downloads are stored, including installers and zip tools) Clear local depot (delete the entire depot, just to be sure to do not have unnecessary files) Populate local depot (this synchronizes your local depot with the server depot) Update / Install (obviously, install or update the tools that need it and are checked) * yes, pretty basic UI for now but it's working like a charm! For tools developers... For now, only Poseidon Tools and Mikero tools "packages" are included, but I'm looking for more developers to join us. If you're interested, just let me a message here or a PM! In the best case, your tools need an installer that can take one of the following startup parameters: /s -silent -noUI And one of the following if there are some configuration to do during the installation: /d -default or way to define the configuration in command line If your tool supports this kind of options but not these ones, it's just a matter of exception, not a big deal here. By the way, if you don't have an installer, note that NSIS does the job perfectly (used by Mikero Tools) and is very user friendly. If you have questions What tools are supported? Note that it can install if the tool is missing from your workstation.   25. Hello! We have chosen to pick up the pace and bring our Altis Life Server Live. We have a really good team of staff to support this decision with both running server experience and Administrator experience. Me (Cookie) And Respawn has worked really hard on getting the server up to where it stands now. Here is a little list of what is added: Fully functionally and Capture gang hideouts (With Map markers of which gang controls what). A lot of map customization such as Athira/kavala: Police station, Hospital, Shooting range. Custom Prison, or i would like to call it Alcatraz as well as customized police headquarters. As well as a few Rebel hideouts spread across the islands. (With and without rebel air). Balanced prices on weapons, vehicles and houses. UK Police force with UK police skins. Open able Vehicle doors on such as the Ghost hawk. Boats got more weight so they can also be used for transport of illegal and legal materials for more variety of vehicles that can be used for such ( Drugs, Minerals, Lumber) You name it. There is also a lot more but we want our players to experience the servers fully for themselves! In development, Coming soon: Level and perk system - Allows the players to enhance their abilities when they do one thing certain amount of times. For instance if they pick x units of cocaine, they will be able to pick that 2x faster, Or pick locking vehicles 2x faster.
