  3. The Wrecking Crew The Wrecking Crew is a realism group that prides itself in its dedication to realistic and enjoyable game play, without the rigid aspects like permanent ranks and having to shout "Yes, sir" at a 14 year old. While we play mostly as British Forces to make coherent training possible, we have a whole host of players who come from all over the world, some as far out as Malaysia and South Africa. You select the role you'd like each week for our editor-driven operations, as long as you are competent and prove yourself by passing the required training sessions for that role, with some not requiring any. This allows you to vary from leading a platoon one week to driving a tank the next. The freedom to experience so many different types of game play without hindrance on the co-operation & enjoyability is something you will struggle to find in most other ArmA groups. Public Server If you would like to experience first hand what it's like to play with TWC, come join us on our public server. It runs different dynamic game modes made entirely in-house with a more relaxed game play than in our operations, but it will still give you a good insight in the community and play style. You don't need to sign up to participate on our public server, just the mods and to connect to our TeamSpeak server. We've created an easy to follow guide on how to get connected here. About our Operations Alongside a public server that runs 24/7, the biggest event our group hosts are weekly 'Operations' with between 20 to 40 people. As well as the occasional 'Joint Operation' with other groups which have encompassed up to 70 people total. Our operations span over a century of warfare, with a monthly rotation of World War 2, Cold War, Turn of the Millennium and Modern Operations. This means that in one month you can liberate a French town from Nazi occupation, halt a Soviet mechanised assault in the plains of Northern Germany, brawl with Iraqi armour in the deserts of Kuwait and patrol through the hills of Afghanistan, searching for insurgents. In these operations any recruit or member can play any role as long as he has received the corresponding training. In our operations we strive for maximum realism. We find real-life solutions for problems that we may face in game, while omitting more tedious parts of military duty like saluting, hour-long marches and range etiquette. We aim for the most immersive experience possible by having minimal HUD, first person only, a single life and using ACRE 2 for communications. Our operations take place on Saturday at 18:30 (UK time) and can last up to four hours or more. Interested in trying it out? If you're interested in participating in public, or signing up to try out our operations, you can check out our website for more information: http://www.thewreckingcrew.eu/. Alternatively, you can contact us on Discord, or pop directly onto TeamSpeak where any member will be willing to help you join with no hassle.

  5. 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team Milsim Have you ever wanted to jump out of an airplane, or air assault an enemy position? Have you ever wanted to participate in company-sized light infantry operations? Then look no further, the 173rd may be just right for you! Overview The 173rd Airborne prides itself in being the distinct and go-to unit for airborne & light infantry operations. Our goal is to offer authentic experience based on real US Army standards without sacrificing the game play. Who We Are The 173rd Airborne (the "Unit") is an established MilSim unit based on the real-world 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, an airborne infantry brigade combat team of the United States Army currently based in Vicenza, Italy. The Unit is based in the Central Standard Time zone and all unit events are scheduled and quoted in CST (GMT-6). Our Unit prides itself in being the premier airborne & light infantry MilSim unit in the Arma 3 community. We retain this reputation by effectively implementing realism mods for communications, equipment, textures, and interfaces, while simultaneously executing meticulously planned and designed operations which keep our soldiers engaged, challenged, and entertained. The Unit works very hard to embody and honor the real-world 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat team by employing real-world fighting tactics and other features of U.S. military doctrine. One of the keys to the success of the Unit is division of responsibilities and mechanisms for ensuring accountability. There is a lot of work to be done, and our members keep the lights on by completing administrative work in an accurate and timely manner. To continue ranking up in the Unit soldiers are required to volunteer their efforts on an administrative staff. These staff positions manage tasks such as personnel tracking, security and monitoring of public Unit assets, mission planning, mod/texture building/maintenance, soldier training, community outreach, media/illustration asset development, enlistment and applicant processing, and community administration. On an on-going and continuously impressive basis these different administrative staffs coordinate and accomplish their objectives, keeping the Unit organized and headed in the right direction. Unit History The Unit was formed on November 18th, 2012. The founding members included actual military personnel as well as military enthusiasts and FPS gamers. The Unit was originally formed as an Arma 2 MilSim. The Unit officially transitioned to Arma 3 on October 12th, 2014. The switch from Arma 2 to Arma 3 brought about some growing pains as soldiers slowly followed the Unit to the new platform but by the end of 2014 the unit had grown substantially. The Unit took a leap forward in the summer of 2015 following the launch of its new "state of the art" website, administered by a talented base of professional and amateur programmers, with additional support coming from the senior staff members. Nothing from the original website (today affectionately referred to as "Old Grey") was ported onto the new platform. Countless man hours were put into restricting the forums, composing and publishing unit information, and transitioning dozens and dozens and dozens of personnel files, including all service and disciplinary records. Today, the Unit is larger than ever, and with its size has come the implementation of ever-more impressive technology and professional-grade web content. We are constantly looking for members who show promise and devotion to the Unit. Those soldiers are often specifically selected to serve as Senior Staff members, developers of critical Unit content, among other responsibilities. The Unit In order to accomplish our goals we offer a wide variety of training courses in which players can perfect and hone their skills. All our courses are based on the real US Army courses but designed to fit the game. As a milsim/realism unit we require role-playing during training and operations to ensure everyone has a good experience. This might all sound very serious but during our off time our milsim unit becomes a very relaxed community that enjoys a large variety of games. Where we differ from most units is that when we start official unit events we switch to our serious side and get things done. The Community The most important aspect of our unit is the community it creates. Making friendships and long lasting bonds is what keeps groups of people together and we wouldn't be here if all we did was serious milsim. We emphasize that the unit is our unit as it is ran by the whole community and not a single person. We value each and every member and everyone has a chance to contribute to better the unit. If you think this is something you want to take part in we hope you consider enlisting and experience what we have to offer. 6. Who are we? The 10th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is an semi-realistic, international gaming community focussing mostly on ArmA 3 ALiVE structured missions. We have 3 main regiments; the 1st Battalion 10th Marines, 10th Marine Air Wing and 2/14th Combined Arms Regiment. Each regiment has unique training and courses that are required to progress within the community Additionally, there are multiple optional courses that help to develop skills, and open new pathways within the community. For example, we offer courses such as Corpsman, Weapons Team, Artillery, and Combat Diver Schools. What do we do? The 10th MEU run deployments using the ALiVE mod, this means that the server is constantly active and every action taken has an effect on the mission. We also run full battalion missions on Saturdays at 12:00 pm UTC (with more planned in the future), these missions are all preplanned and come with detailed mission briefings so that everyone is aware of what to expect. During these missions, we aim to take key objectives and to have a larger impact on the ongoing mission. We use a variety of different mods such as; ALiVE,CUP, RHS, ACE3, TFAR and also some custom made mods that have been created for exclusive use in our community. Additionally, we use a custom base building script that allows members to create new FOB’s and outposts to secure areas throughout the deployment. Each deployment will last roughly 4-6 weeks, sometimes longer depending on how long it takes to achieve key objectives. Every deployment will have an accompanying deployment brief that will explain the backstory, objectives, available assets and much more. Every member will be placed into an fireteam or vehicle crew (depending on regiment) and each regiment sticks to a fixed role roster during main events. This is to encourage teamwork and consistency, however members may play any roles they are qualified to during non-planned events (such as midweek patrols). To simulate as best of a real-world scenario as we can, we have a large range of highly-trained selected squad-leaders, trainers and officers that will help you with your journey through community ranks and departments. To help with realism and progression of the story, members are encouraged to fill out a small patrol report after every mission (this is usually done by the senior member of the patrol/unit). While this may seems excessive, we believe that it adds to the mission as a whole and gives missions a purpose. As the 10th MEU is a gaming community we also do play other games such as; Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Hellion, Conan Exiles, GTA V, etc. Our members often play these games together, strengthening the sense of community and friendship, there is always something to do and no one is left out. What do we offer? Our community is still in the early stages but growing steadily, we have a handful of members already (around 20) and are looking to grow steadily over the next few weeks. We are looking for all types of members, everything from people that just want to play to those that want to take a bigger role within the community. We are looking for members that want to help develop and grow our community, help build trainings and populate missions. Additionally, we are looking for members that are interested in taking an active leadership role within the community, currently these roles will be limited but more will be available in the future as we expand. There are many opportunities within the 10th MEU, we encourage our members to pursue the career paths they want to take within the community and have multiple avenues for members to take. We employ a Warrant Officer system for members that want to still progress within the rank structure, but don’t want to become a Squad Leader etc. The Warrant Officers are our community’s trainers and specialists, they help educate every member and guide them to the next step on the community ladder. Currently. there are many communities available to join and it is hard to stand out against the flood of units. We are hoping to differentiate ourselves by offering a unique style of missions and gameplay, one that revolves around persistence and story, while also offering a strong and stable community to be a part of. The best way to learn about what we do and who we are is to join our teamspeak (see below) and speak to one of our recruitment team. They will discuss what we do and what you can expect from us, as well as answer any questions you may have. Joining Requirements. The 10th MEU has a comprehensive rule set to ensure that all members of the community are kept satisfied and are not bullied or mistreated. The few requirements to join are: All applicants must be of the age of 17 or older. All applicants must own a valid and legal copy of ArmA 3. 7. This is a new unit**That means easy promotions and leadership rules** Players who are new to Arma are encouraged to join this unit! We would like to help you learn the game and how milsim works. The problem with most MilSim units is that they require a huge commitment. That doesn't work for players who have jobs, families, and social lives to attend to. 801BTFO's mission is to give an option to soldiers looking for realism but also freedom. We would love for you to be a part of the unit but we won't hold you to strict commitments. We do ask that you fill out an application but no interview process is required. A relaxed training session will be used to prepare you for your time in the 801st unit. We hope that you feel welcome and accepted into our community. We are a MilSim unit. We will strive for realism but we will not do so at the cost of your life outside of the milsim unit. Your training will go more in-depth but realistic communication and strategy are required during missions. Outside of missions, just have fun together. The server has been designed so that gamers using Nvidia's Geforce NOW to run the game can play. Note that there will be special instructions if that is the case but we would love to have you in the unit. USA, CST If you are interested, you can find more info including application and mods here: https://units.arma3.com/unit/801btfo

  11. What is our unit? The Essex Regiment is a Second World War UK based unit that attempts to recreate a realistic portrayal of the British military during the mid 20th century period. We are a serious milsim, meaning that when on operations, members should be serious and follow designated procedures. The Essex Regiment focuses mainly on conventional warfare, meaning most missions will be lively and kinetic. Occasionally we may also perform counter-insurgencies and other less conventional operations. The Essex Regiment uses a rank system based on the British Army during the Second World War period. In our unit, players will receive promotions and commendations based on their merit and dedication with the unit and not solely based on their role. This means that members will be rewarded for their capability, knowledge and time devoted to the unit. Who is our unit based on? We are based on the Essex Regiment. It fought during many of the different campaigns throughout the Second World War. From the battle of France in 1940 until the fall of Germany in 1945. Our unit won't strictly follow all the campaigns followed by the Essex Regiment as we feel that campaigns such as Norway and Burma and others set in the final days of Empire will allow for differentiation in combat and environment. However the unit will try to stick as close as possible while keeping game-play fun and engaging and will undertake campaigns in a chronological order of events mirroring the events of the Second World War and its immediate aftermath. When do we play? We have two events a week. We conduct exercises and training on thursdays at 2000 GMT (in summer this changes to GMT+1) and operations on sunday at 2000 GMT (again changing to GMT+1 in Summer). How can I join? If you're interested in joining our unit, you must be of 16 years of age or above. If you are below 16, it is possible that you may still join the unit but you must have a mature attitude. The interview process will take a bit longer as your place in the unit will be discussed with other interviewers. Be aware that if you are caught lying about your age after being accepted into the unit, you will be removed from the unit. To join our unit, feel free to add and message one of our officers (As indicated in our Steam Group) or alternatively come chat to us in our team-speak or Discord: Teamspeak: 95.172.92.113:9990 Discord: https://discord.gg/YbXg49h Steam Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Essex_Regiment Once you've shown interest in joining our unit, you will be asked to attend an interview at a time that is convenient for you. In this interview, you will be asked a variety of questions including your age, any previous Arma experience and questions about yourself. Don't be discouraged by this interview process as it is more to find out more about you and where we think you would fit best. Once the interview process is complete and you have shown promise, you will be accepted into the unit. You will be invited into the Steam group and be able to join the Essex Regiment in all its operations and other activities.
  12. Hey folks how’s it going. I’m here to tell you about a new community to Arma 3, but a popular community back during Arma 2’s popular days. The owner who originally brought the community up decided to revive it. The original Deluxe Gaming Society during Arma 2 was a life Server on Cherno. So this time we are bringing it back as a plain old Altis life server.....nah..Bish let me tell you we are working hard on this. We have plans to add TFAR as soon as possible for better role play, we have a small mod pack that is not required to join, but would enhance gameplay. We do have a server up as of now as well as teamspeak. Down the line we would like to incorporate a milsim into the community, and we may throw up different kind of missions such as wasteland, end game, stuff like that. Because no one wants to play one thing all the time. Server IP: 198.27.67.140:2302 Teamspeak IP: 149.56.47.82:550 Website (Still workin on it): http://deluxegamingsociety.net/ We do have a lot of appreciation for first responders as the owner, myself, and another fellow are fr’s ourselves, along with some enthusiasts. We welcome all military folk as well. The server has been fitted with some custom scripts, sounds, and textures. And more will be added along the way. Our website is currently being worked on. But is ready for people to sign up. We are looking for any developers who would like to help out and also play on our server. We do not expect anyone to be on 24/7, everyone has a life. Except me. Police and Fire positions are open and ready. We welcome any member, preferred if you are mature...but...we’re desperate..dear god help us..

  19. Hi, I just created this account (for now) to make some noise about this thing that i'm missing for so long. We need simple vanilla flashlights.. at least I really wish there were some... I remember the first time I started playing arma 3... at that time there was only one map to chose, wich was Stratis. I joined a server and it was night. It was pitchblack, except for that impressive lightbeam coming from the lighthouse. And the lights far away from some houses, I loved it. Well meanwile I tend to play a lot on Altis Life servers, which are really fun on their own way. I really like the roleplaying part of it. On these servers you start of as a civilian, doing what a "civilian" does,... farm, farm and farm. Anyways, after night falls, gameplay could be really interesting especialy because you can't see anything without light. But... alas, we only have two options when it comes to take a walk in the dark. Being armed with a gun equiped with a flashlight or wear nightvision goggles and there fades the ambiance... I remember when I was a kid, I had that old military flashlight that had like 2 or 3 levers, you could either go with full light and be seen by the enemies from far away or you could pull a lever so most of the light would be cut off, only a small lightbeam would go through a slit covering only a small area in front of you. Then there were the other levers in which you could put a red or green filter. I really loved this flashlight. I remember doing some mors code with it. :) I like to imagine a scenario where noone would have acces to nightvision and would rely merely on flashlights to be seen by the enemy if not carefull or see the enemy from far away. Or one having to use his flashlight with a filter in order to check his map for navigation. I'm sure this is feasable, consider this a wish to the devs team. Please make it happen!! :)

  22. Community Discord

Basically, it's very hard to find servers to play on and be able to get yourself some proper teammates. So, are there any communities around organizing Argo games and such? Official Discord server has something like ~10 people on it. I'm from EU but even NA would work out for me in the end. If there ain't any - we should really start up some community around this game in order to be able to be able to organize some proper matches.
