  1. As you can see the AI is not engaging the targets, despite knowing about them and having clear line of sight. Also tested this with max AI skill setting. Oddly enough if i do the same test on the big salt lake (same distance, units, etc) the tank actually starts shooting when i reveal the targets for him (Only small bursts).

    Additions to consider?

Hi, Firstly, I’m loving how the game is developing overall, and look forward to each update that improves gameplay and the environment. The following are a few of my personal thoughts, some of which are already shared by others, on possible additions I’d like to see within the world of Vigor: Dressing for the occasion; If map selection is no longer available, the ability to change clothing and equipment selection during the encounter lobby to suit the game would be preferred. Why dress in bright red tracksuit to then go to a blizzard in Dverg Forrest, or a Winter Hunters smock to visit a sunny Grontheim Valley? Add a Ghillie suit to the wardrobe too, crafted from local flora and fauna! Wildlife; an additional threat to ‘campers’ and ‘teamers’ but also a source of food and reward (animal hide or head trophy for the shelter)? Native Dogs, Arctic fox, Musk ox, reindeer, wolves, Brown bears, eagles, seals? Times of day: Norway experiences some amazing displays of the Northern Lights, so why not have an encounter to view them? Additional equipment could include flashlights and glow sticks, Signal Flares (Fired and loiter on a parachute to illuminate an area) but not Night Vision Goggles. Spotting a wolfs eyes in your torchlight could be a chilling experience!! Vehicles: there are plenty of abandoned cars and trucks, why not Hotwire one (Or find a bunch of keys in a nearby building?) to get across the map quicker. Fuel could be limited, add more to go further. Keys get instant activation, or take longer to Hotwire with wire\nails etc? Shelter interaction: I would love to take my boat out on the water to a) catch some fish and b) row to the oil rig! I would also love to play the arcade game!! Vigor Playlist: share the Vigor Score/soundtrack on Apple Music, Spotify etc so I can listen to Vigor mood music when not playing. That’s all for now. I’ll await your feedback before I add more comments/suggestions. Keep up the great work. Best regards DaddyBaz
  3. Hi, I'm using a trigger to spawn AI (CSAT) boats and make them move to a waypoint (to chase the blufor boats) and I am getting a "generic code error" when I try to do this. The code I have so far is as follows: group_2 = creategroup east; enemy2 = group_2 createVehicle ["O_Boat_Armed_01_hmg_F ",getmarkerpos "spawn2",[],0,"form"]; enemy2 domove (getmarkerpos "waypoint2") This code is situated in the activation section of the trigger. I have a dot marker set as spawn2 and a circle marker set as waypoint 2 (as I'm spawning a load of ground units at the same time who spawn at spawn1). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Hello friends! A couple of days ago I've ran into some trouble I couldn't solve myself, and I found help here very fast. Right now, I'm at the point where I'm unable to find a solution for some sort of problem, again. What I'm trying to achive, is to spawn a vehicle - the AWC 302 Nyx (Wiesel), to be exactly - with alternate, official texture. The Nyx features the standard AAF-Camo, and alternatively an simple Olive-Camo. Since I'm making a own verison of DUWS - many of you will know what this is -, you will also know how those vehicles do spawn: Go to the headquarters, talk to the officer, choose the vehicle, spend the credits, and the vehicle will spawn outside of the HQ. Heres a little insight of how I try to spawn this vehicle with the alternate Olive-Camo: case 18: { if (commandpointsblu1 >= 28) then { hint "Vehicle ready !"; commandpointsblu1 = commandpointsblu1 - 28; ctrlSetText [1000, format["%1",commandpointsblu1]]; _vehic = "I_LT_01_AA_F" createVehicle _spawnPos; _vehic setObjectTexture [0,"Indep_Olive"]; _vehic setObjectTexture [1,"Indep_Olive"]; _vehic setObjectTexture [2,"Indep_Olive"]; _vehic animate ["showTools", 1]; _vehic animate ["showCamonetHull", 1]; _vehic animate ["showBags", 1]; _vehic animate ["showSLATHull", 0]; } else { hint "Not enough command points"; }; }; If I do place the vehicle in 3den-Editor, change it's visuals like the camo, SLAT-Armour, camonet etc., and then export it, copy paste it somewhere, the Olive-Camo is defined as "Indep_Olive", like above. Exported stuff looks like this: _veh = createVehicle ["I_LT_01_AA_F",position player,[],0,"NONE"]; [ _veh, ["Indep_Olive",1], ["showTools",1,"showCamonetHull",1,"showBags",1,"showSLATHull",0] ] call BIS_fnc_initVehicle; Of course I already found out that this won't work with SetObjectTexture, unfortunately. The vehicle does spawn with all the extras like SLAT-Armour, tools, but with missing textures (At least this showed me, that it somehow works). I then tried different things to achive my goal, changed something here and there, tried to find the path to those textures, etc. Funny enough: It's possible to use this code instead of the old one, and spawn the vehicle with all the extras and the correct textures. Bad thing is, It's spawn behaviour is totally different and all over the place - sometimes even glitches into the HQ. Results in apocalypse. If I'd use the new code instead of the old one, it'd look like this: case 18: { if (commandpointsblu1 >= 28) then { hint "Vehicle ready !"; commandpointsblu1 = commandpointsblu1 - 28; ctrlSetText [1000, format["%1",commandpointsblu1]]; _veh = createVehicle ["I_LT_01_AA_F",position player,[],25,"NONE"]; [ _veh, ["Indep_Olive",1], ["showTools",1,"showCamonetHull",1,"showBags",1,"showSLATHull",0] ] call BIS_fnc_initVehicle; } else { hint "Not enough command points"; }; }; It's a long and already ungrateful journey, and I don't know where else to look, what else to do. If there would be someone to point me in the right direction, or is able to make a functioning code of the examples above - old code or new one, doesn't matter as long as it works and the spawn behaviour is correct and identical to the old one, I'd - again - be more than very thankful. Hope to hear from you folks, enjoy your time! Regards, MajorBlunderbuss.
  5. I made this ages ago. Neglected to upload it to the workshop somehow. Its a remake of the brilliant BIS Tac Ops mission of the same name - so perhaps a massive spoiler alert if you haven't played through the DLC campaign. It is not a like for like facsimile, and the story is adjusted to be a continuation of At What Cost. Having said that you don't need to own any DLC. All the assets used I believe are platform assets. The mission was created for zeus-community using 2600K's fork of the F3 Framework which means that its packed full of features and parameters to play with such as weather, ZGM module for admin, safe start, JIP, drop in drop out radio channels, You don't need 61 people - I've left the AI slots open, so you could run this 'full' with as few as 8 people all the way up to 61. The mission briefing is laid out below. It is up to whoever takes the Commander slot to come up with a plan. Subcribe at the Steam Workshop Page. SITUATION The AAF has begun its crack down on the population of Altis. Your Company is assembled from civilians and a portion of the Altis Armed Forces who refuse to take part following the disgusting treatment of IDAP volunteers and the bombing of Zaros a few months ago. A local AAF militia force has fortified Galati and is using its check points to tax and harass the movement of goods, civilians and aid. We just got word of an IDAP supply convoy that has been prevented from moving north to Abdera. If we could secure this the treasure inside could easily keep our forces supplied for a couple of months. OBJECTIVES Take Galati and liberate the blockaded aid convoy. Ensure casualties are kept below (parameter selectable) percent. SPECIAL TASKS Galati is protected by three Check Points - Golf, Hotel and India. The town's garrison will likely call reinforcements from Sytra and Athira at the first sign of attack. If we were to assault and hold Hotel and India we could use the defences there to hold off any counter attacks from the AAF armored platoon at Athira and Syrta's mechanised forces. Once safe on the flanks we'll be able to move on the town, eliminate every last one of those bastards and call in our reserves to move the supplies later once the fighting has stopped. FRIENDLY FORCES Commander at your disposal you have: COMMAND GROUP A 2IC - keep him as your medic or put him in charge of a thing. 1st and 2nd Platoon Commanders - If you so wish to divide your forces these roles may be very useful. I would recommend that you use the extended Radio Channels to allow distinct leadership roles or groups to communicate without jamming the airwaves. Are your IFVs all moving together? Have the Command element in charge of them and the Vic Commanders all join a channel together. Are Alpha and Bravo moving together and supporting one-another and moving with one of the IFVs? Have their executive officer and SLS in a common channel. Need an intercom between Vic and Squad? - Put a squad member in charge of comms with the vic and hop on the channel. You could also give the mortar team a direct link to an assigned person in charge of calling fire missions in the Company or each platoon, squad or fire team. Remember that utilising these channels makes the yellow CO channel a way of address all Command elements and may mean talking over another radio channel in use. Another top tip is to record who is on which channel on the map for easy reference should someone need to get in touch and temporarily join the correct channel. RECON Romeo and Juliet - two 2 man teams with quad-bikes for deployment. Each team has a small supply of explosives for sabotage and a limited supply of .408 ammo for very long range engagements. Note they start away from the main force. INFANTRY Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta - four 10 man squads of varying competence and ability. To get about they have a variety of unarmed re-purposed vics ranging from off-roads and 4WDs to trucks and vans. AFV-4 GORGON IFV1, 2 and 3. - When our men left the AAF they brought with them their tax payer funded tools! The three Gorgons are distinguished from their AAF counterparts by their camouflage. Each IFV has a cargo capacity of 8 men so use them as impromptu transports as well as infantry support. Remember these things are glass cannons. They, like the infantry, need cover and concealment in order to last the rounds. SUPPORT Mike - Mortar and Vehicle Rearm. Use the mortar team as a back of house resupply and support contingent. Their vic will also rearm our IFVs. ENEMY FORCES The AAF still have many recruits and some commanders have seen the benefits of becoming local warlords. Expect heavy resistance in the town and QRFS to come from the East and West to support the check points and Galati.
  6. Hi, obligatory "I'm new to scripting". I've been trying to use the command getHit on a triggers Condition box to check the repair state of a vehicle but can't figure it out and can't get any search results that really help. Anyone willing to help me out?
  7. ArmA III has many different vehicles, each with several different available textures. Some like the offroad (and now with the release of Tanks DLC, most armored vehicles as well) even have certain components like doors, camo nets, bags, and supplemental armor that can be added or removed. I love these customization options-- the only problem: it's impossible to edit any of this in-game. My friends and I like to play scenarios using MCC and Zeus to create missions on-the-fly rather than create them beforehand in Eden. This allows for spontaneity and overall shorter prep time. However, Zeus currently lacks the ability to edit vehicle appearance in any way. Currently, if I want an offroad with a different camo pattern or a tank with extra armor around the tracks, I have to edit a scenario to include that specific vehicle for the one missions I will use it in. Adding the ability to customize vehicle appearance to Zeus would go a long way in allowing players like myself to enjoy some of these customization options, especially now that some of them actually have function (e.g. supplemental armor around tank tracks). Players had similar complaints after Jets DLC dropped and there was no way to edit the pylons in Zeus, and then that feature was added. It seems like it'd be similarly easy to add this as well. TL;DR We should be able to edit vehicle appearance in Zeus like we do in Eden.
  8. I do understand the use of the Virtual Arsenal. Testing stuff out. Looking through available stuff. But what use is the option for saving / loading loadouts in the vehicle section? I cannot load custom vehicle loadouts as Zeus to make these destinct. There are no vehicle arsenals where i could change the look of my car. Why is there then an option to save my grey Angara if i will never use it in a vanilla setting. Whats the use of it? There should be an option to load specific visual customization either as Zeus or as the player. I think there should be more stuff you should be able to save and customize. But sadly there is not even an option to use the vehicle loadouts.

  10. If a custom GUI is opened when player is driver of an air vehicle with engine on, the vehicle behaves as though the landing auto-pilot (or some other phantom) has taken control. After researching the issue for some time now I have found exactly zero information about it. It's not too bad while flying but it's game breaking on the ground. I tried using, playerJET action ["cancelLand", playerJET]; each time the menu opens but that's doesn't seem to do much or anything. There was a forum topic I can't find again where GOM suggested the above as a EachFrame EH but that seems heavy for a function that should just completely go away. Where does this controller exist and how can it be modified? Help me exorcise this phantom pilot! Testing... Test module: drive link

  12. Hello All, I've been getting into making addons, specifically vehicle textures, and have had some success. Despite this, there are a few things I am having trouble with and cannot seem to find any information to help with online, so I wanted to create a topic to find some additional information about the process beyond Amit's simple re-texturing guide, so here are my questions: 1. Is there any config template for simply adding a texture to a vanilla vehicle's virtual garage (VG) without creating an entirely new vehicle class? I am a novice with scripting and writing configs, so I am not great at figuring out how to implement code. I have searched through the config files of vehicles with multiple texture options and have found the classes for each texture option, but I don't know how you would implement it without creating an entirely new vehicle and adding your texture to that list (defeating the purpose of dealing with VG in the first place). 2. How do you go about adding re-textures for parts of a vehicle that are either modifications via VG or just not listed in the initial three hidden selection paths? For example, I am making a winter re-texture of the MBT-Kuma (I know some exist, but I had an idea for my personal scheme), and I would like to include a re-textured winter-style camo net with it. I am also doing things with the slammer and would imagine the process would be similar for the optional turret backpacks. Also, I have a re-textured marshall that has been added as a different vehicle, but the camo net reverts the texture back to vanilla. 3. Finally, is there a hidden selection path for the tracks of a vehicle? On the Kuma, I have also created a new track texture, but cannot find a way to even test it via setObjectTexture. I know this is a lot, but even help on one issue would be awesome! Thanks!
  13. The wiki page referes to the forum but not to a specific thread, so I am assuming there is none yet. Anyway my feedback so far: "Its great, so great.. greatest dynamic loadout system by far" - Donald Trump However, the list isn't sorted or grouped in a specific way. Just by adding our "Swedish Forces Pack" bombs, the list starts growing quite a bit. Playing with SFP, RHS and perhaps 2 more mods and this will be a real issue. Also, in the wiki page there is no reference how to enable it on your own airplane .p3d. I managed to make custom pylons, and custom weapons on the A164 Wipeout but not enabling it on my own plane.

  15. Survivable Crashes (& Shoot-downs) When activated, this mod allows the crew of a vehicle to survive it's destruction and escape with some damage taken. While designed for helicopters, vehicle classes may be whitelisted. When the vehicle reaches fatal damage, players will be knocked unconscious, ejected when near the ground, applied randomized damage, and then woken up. The vehicle will explode after 40-80 seconds. These effects may be customized by using the Survivable Crashes Settings Module in your mission. ACE3 damage will be automatically applied if it is in the active mod pack. 16. So I'm not sure if this has been asked or what but from searching i haven't found it yet. So here is my question is it possible to add the animation/movement controls of a infantry and apply it to a vehicle like for instance; infantry gets into vehicle and said vehicle is basically a super sized infantry. The reason i ask is because i would like to add mechs/mech-type vehicles and i under stand the basics of coding from some other projects i have worked on for fun. I just kinda wonder/hoping that you would be able to apply the Infantry game controller to a vehicle profile so that it can have Armor/components that can be destroyed and repaired.
  17. After all the suffering our own people had to endure during the reign of the military regime in the year 2035, the altian people know how important democracy can be and - most importantly - how fragile it actually is. We, the altian government, have sworn to protect this achievement of civilization. Due to this oath, the Republic of Altis and Stratis will provide a large contingent of troops and, thanks to our old and new american friends, materials to the United Nations. We want to help other nations to protect and maintain or even restore this very freedom we have lost a long time ago. Godspeed." Achilios Demetriou, President of the Republic of Altis and Stratis, 07. July 2040 This mod aims to add UN styled gear and vehicles into Arma 3's arsenal. This is due to removing all turrets by a script and re-adding the commander optic by hand. This results in some visual glitches when turning the optic to the rear of the vehicle. 18. First off, I love Arma! It's my most played steam game and it's where I've met most of my best friends on steam. However, there are some things that I really dislike about Arma and I wish were done differently. [THIS WILL BE A LONG POST, SO I'LL PUT A TL;DR AT THE END] • Overall polish and attention to detail isn't very good. The damage models need a complete rework. It would be cool to see blood where I actually got shot or to see dents/scratches on a vehicle where I hit something. Actually seeing the rocket being loaded in your RPG and seeing the medkit when you use one, having proper animations for ladders and stairs and more fluid animations that affect what your character is interacting with, like opening doors on houses and vehicles, and Having your character pull his gun closer when hes near a wall so your barrel doesn't stick through. These things seem so little and useless, but they can actually go a long way in making players feel more immersed and like they're playing a more fleshed out game. Tarkov is a great example of good fleshed out animations. • Vehicles. They're good for getting you from point A to point B if you take the main road, they're a deathtrap if you use them for anything else. Hitting a bush shouldn't destroy my tires and headlights while almost killing me in the process. PLEASE, just turn off collision for any bush that's smaller than an offroad! Also, why does your vehicle explode after hitting enough things? Literally no vehicle does that. I play a lot of wasteland, and sometimes you have to use a vehicle as your main weapon, whether it be a hatchback or an offroad. If I ram into another vehicle, it's RNG whether I live and the enemy dies, the enemy lives and I die, we both live, we both die, or one or both of us goes flying off into space. It's extremely annoying. My solution is to make a new damage mechanic for vehicles. If I ram into the driver side of an enemy vehicle going less than 50KMH, the enemy should die and I should be severely injured. Anything over 50KMH and we both die. Something like that. Things should be switched up for armored vehicles as well. Nothing should be completely destroyed by 1 rocket or missile unless it's from a jet or a helicopter. Ifrits, Hunters, and Striders are completely useless if the AI or enemy has an RPG. Instead of having 1 rocket blow up the vehicle and killing everyone inside, make it so that 1 rocket just disables the vehicle and also make it RNG on who dies and who gets severely injured. Each launcher should have their own damage multiplier and each APC and tank should have a multiplier on every side (Front, back, left, right, top, and bottom). Hitting a specific part of a tank or APC like the track or turret should always disable it. IMO, this will make the combat between players and vehicles so much more balanced and fun. • Animations should be interruptible and be able to be performed while moving. If I'm healing and hear an enemy walking up, there's nothing I can do but spin around and hope they have the worst aim in existence. It would be nice if I could stop the animation and take my gun back out to take care of the enemy, then start healing again. If I could move while healing, then I could walk into a room or around the corner in order to finish the animation. Let me pull out my pistol to cancel the reload animation if I need to kill another player quickly. Also, this is something I saw on one of Crowbcat's videos, lets say that I just killed an enemy in KOTH and I only have 8 rounds left in my mag, I go to reload and then another enemy rounds the corner. It would be awesome if I could left click and have my character quickly put back in the mag that has 8 rounds left in order to finish off the enemy, rather than taking the time to get a new mag. Speaking of left click, that would be a good keybind to cancel animations. • This is kind of small, but having preferences for each gun and scope in the options so that each time a player picks up a gun or attaches a scope, it will be suited to their play style. If I pick up an MXC, I want it to be on full auto and zeroed to 200m, and I don't want that to change unless I change it manually in game or in the options. If I drop the weapon and pick it back up, it should be just the way I left it. • The AI is mega dumb. I shouldn't even need to explain how bad they are. There's literally more improvements you could make on the AI than you could on the actual game! They have god like aim, they just sit there and crawl around, they see you through bushes and walls, and they can even magically walk through solid objects. Not even full Lvl 5 armor will protect you from getting 1-tapped by these gods. My fondest memory of them was on Wasteland on the Stratis map. Me and some friend were driving to a mission when an AI on the airfield 1-tapped me out of the back of an offroad going 40KMH from over 600m away. • Weapon sway is unrealistic and annoying more than it is immersive. The sway is so slow and all over the place when it should be more controlled and shaky/twitchy. I mean, come on. You're a highly trained soldier and you can't even walk 10 feet in your gear and still have accurate aim? You literally need to stand still for 2 minutes or have a bipod to be accurate in this game. The current sway animation is just a handicap for gameplay and immersion. It should be reworked. • Player damage and Armor. Each armor piece should have a multiplier for each type of round, and the armor should lose durability each time it gets shot and have less protection the lower its durability is. Players should have a set HP that goes down every time they get hit, and it should continue to drop unless they use a medkit. If I get shot in the arm, my aim should be extremely shaky, if I get shot in the leg then my movement should be slower and I should have a limp. The slow painful limping animation your player gets when they take enough damage needs to go! With no armor and an MX, a player should be dead with 1 shot to the chest, head, and stomach, and 2 to the legs and arms. With All level 5 armor and an MX, a player should die in 2 shots the the helmet, 4 to the chest, 3 to the stomach, 5 to the legs, and 6 to the arms. There are times when I've killed players with level 5 armor using a TRG faster than I've killed players with level 3 armor using an AK-12. That's dumb. Damage and armor should be consistent. • Aiming and shooting should take priority over any other keys held. The delay from when you stop sprinting and ADS is a bit much IMO and one of the many annoyances in PVP. The moment I right click, my character should stop sprinting and ADS. Same with firing. • I'm all for extra content, but NOT if it offers a blatant advantage. The best guns in Arma 3 are DLC. The AK-12 outperforms all other assault rifles. Period. The Cyrus and Mar-10 are the highest caliber weapons that can be silenced and easily outperforms the MK18. Don't even get me started on the MMGs. There should have already been an AK style rifle in the game to begin with and they should have gave us at least 1 gun in .338 and 9.3 before or closely after they released the marksmen DLC. I know that a skilled player with an MX can easily beat an amateur with an SPMG, but not every gunfight in Arma is between a nub and a veteran player. TL;DR •Polish and detail is suck. Tarkov style animations and a better damage model would be nice. •Vehicles should have a different damage mechanic and tanks/APCs should have better/more consistent damage multipliers for each side of the vehicle. •Animations should be interruptible with a left click. •Having gun preferences in the options and having a gun stay the same after you drop it and pick it back up (Zeroing and fire mode.) •AI... •Weapon sway is OP •Armor and damage should be more consistent. •Aiming and shooting should take priority over any other keys held. •DLC is a bit on the P2W side. I'm sure there are more things I could mention and I could have elaborated better on some things, but It's late and I'm tired. Sorry if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes. I'd love to read what you guys think should be different or why some of the things I mentioned should not be!
  19. Hello, As part of the changes made for the upcoming Tanks DLC, we have just upgraded three wheeled APCs with fully modeled interiors. You can try them on Dev-Branch already, we would like to encourage you to post your feedback to this thread. To clarify, interiors are still work in progress and are also subject to change. The plan is to introduce them to all vanilla armored vehicles as part of a free platform update. We hope you find them as enjoyable and immersive as we do, please let us know what you think! More about the interiors and their development in the latest Report In!
  20. Talking only of standard, base game vehicles and radar mechanics, Anti-Air SPAAG vehicles are completely useless against a competent attack helicopter crew. Tactics and integrated air defense networks aside, the standard AA vehicle is entirely unable to effectively accomplish its role of protecting armored assets from air targets reliably. Due to the fact that I predominantly play KOTH I know I'm probably going to get a bunch of people in here telling me to play a real game mode but my point is about the BASE VEHICLES, not the gamemode in which they are used, and I'd like the responses to be limited to that context as well. Arma is a game that prides itself on its realism of combat systems. However the AA problem is a glaring deficiency in what I consider to be an otherwise outstanding game. My main points of contention come from a few simple facts about the imbalances between ground AA and air assets with guided missiles and radar. They are: 1) Radar and spotting ground vs air It is significantly easier to spot ground targets from the air with radar vs spotting air targets from ground radar. This is simply because the radar mechanics in arma are on a 2D plane with only flat distance information given. In a helicopter this is perfectly fine as the ground is also a flat plane, you simply look along that plane at the specific distance and heading and find your target immediately. On the ground, it is a different story. The helicopter could be 4KM away and 4km up, or flying nap of the earth, or anywhere in between. Finding the altitude of a helicopter at max distance is a process that takes time that an AA vehicle doesn't have to spare, while the helo, given that it is finding targets on a 2D plane instead of a 3D space, doesn't have to deal with it. It is mathematically easier, and when trying to contest good helicopter pilots it is a significant disadvantage when seconds count. 2) Countermeasure systems Helicopter countermeasures are extremely effective at range. I don't know the exact percentages but firing all 4 titan missiles at a helicopter and not hitting a single one is not an uncommon occurrence (and yes I've tried a bunch of different strategies for shooting missiles at helicopters). Flares do not impede the helicopter from continuing active fire, do not have an activation cooldown between uses, do not have as limited number of uses vs smoke, nor do they require an extra player in the vehicle to activate. Smoke denies the ground vehicle the ability to continue return fire, limits its location to within the smoke preventing relocation, has a cooldown between uses, has a much more limited number of uses, and requires an extra player in the vehicle besides the driver/gunner. While none of this is directly related to the primary issue of helicopters vs AA vehicles, I figured it was worth showing another series of inequalities in defensive options. 3) Ranges and and weapon systems Now for the meat of the argument. The AA vehicles cannot contest helicopters with their weapons unless the pilot makes a mistake (read: is a noob). I know the counterargument for some of this is going to be 'ITS JUST A GAME' but if we are striving for a realistic environment it needs to be said. AA vehicle-based weaponry should outrange helicopter weapons, period end of story. The fact that the most common (and effective) tactic is to fly at max altitude and rain ATGMs on anything with a radar signature is ridiculous for a helicopter to be able to do in a radar-based ADN environment. IRL if you were in a helicopter doing that in the vicinity of a dedicated radar AA platform you would be obliterated in the time it takes to fire the missile. Right now the primary target of AA vehicles (THE HELICOPTER) outmatches it so completely, it is never worth it to buy an AA vehicle to shoot it out of the sky. Guns are not auto tracked (like we have now irl, let alone 25 years in the future) but manually aimed, they give you heading information but do not auto-range, and the damage they deal is incremental over time based on how often you score a hit (which if the helicopter is maneuvering at max range and altitude is hard to do consistently, call me a noob all you want but it is a hell of a lot easier to hit a slow moving tracked vehicle once than to hit a maneuvering helicopter multiple times). Meanwhile the ATGM system on the helicopter needs to hit once (or in the case of DAGRs about 4 times but when fired in quick succession it functions the same) and you are instantly dead. You can pop smoke to avoid the auto targetting feature on the chopper but you don't have enough smoke on the vehicle to actually survive continued contact from even a single helicopter's payload outside of getting rearmed, and I have already described the deficiencies of the smoke defense in the above point. Titan missiles are not consistent with the countermeasure system and that is assuming you are alive for long enough when facing off against a helicopter to actually get a lock and use them all before needing to pop smoke and ruin your ability to fire effectively. Damage, weapon systems, countermeasure systems and target tracking on ground based AA vehicles are all objectively worse than attack helicopters for the base vehicles. Yes, you can disable some of these features. Yes, you can mod them. But the fact remains that there is a vehicle in the game that is incapable of fulfilling its primary role (again, unless the pilot does something stupid but you can't plan for that) due to the mechanics of the game if all features are enabled. In a vacuum, an AA vehicle in the open should be able to beat an attack helicopter in the open. The opposite is true as the game is now. There are a few fixes that could be implemented that could help address this issue: 1) Autotracking guns We have them now, today. No AA piece is manually fired anymore unless you are subjected to HARM SEAD sorties which is not the case in the game for most multiplayer situations. Immediately getting a firing solution and gun lock on a helicopter would go a long way in terms of being able to instantly suppress the gunner and bring down a helicopter in the open. 2) Longer range locking missile The primary weapon for most ground based AA vehicles that take on modern attack helicopters is a missile/radar system combo that outranges the ATGMs that helicopters bring. THATS WHY YOU TAKE THEM ON THE VEHICLE. They are big and accurate and can't be carried by people. Right now we have MANPADS strapped to the sides of this thing that are literally the same thing infantry carry and no better. The gun is worse and the missiles are too short range to effectively face off against a helicopter due to the countermeasures issue discussed earlier. If there was a missile that had a longer lock on range vs the attack helicopter ATGMs that would not only balance the gameplay against high-flying attack helicopters but also actually be realistic. 3) Missile less likely to be spoofed by countermeasures Again, looking at what we have now in the military with combination IR/UV seeker heads, flare-based countermeasures should be way less effective than what they are now. If after all of the things I described in the engagements earlier don't come to pass and you actually do manage to get a lock and fire your weapons at a careless pilot, they probably won't hit if the enemy knows how to evade missiles. AA missiles (especially vehicle based variants!) should be a way bigger threat to helicopters if one gets launched at it and right now they aren't. This lack of threat leads to specifically the gameplay strategy of staying at max altitude over the AO and being uncontested except by other helicopters, almost never by ground-based AA vehicles which SHOULD be the primary threat and concern for helicopter pilots. Instead, nap of the earth flight with limited radar visibility should be the norm as that would actually require a level of sneakiness and vulnerability that would be open to a lot more opportunities for engaging helicopters with other weapons, and also because that's how helicopters have to operate to stay alive in a contested AA zone. TLDR: Please fix AA vehicles. Also is this actually the right place to post this? If not let me know where it goes.
  21. I'm looking for a way to stop a specific vehicle from being able to be blown up. I want the hull and engine to be invincible, so that the vehicle won't explode when hit, but the wheels should still be vulnerable so that it can still be disabled, just not destroyed/blown up. I'm looking for this to be achieved within the vehicles init field, or via an external script. The reason I want this to be possible is because I don't want a simple vehicle respawn in my mission like I have now. I want to punish players for getting a vehicle blown up, making them have to airlift the damaged vehicle back to base where it can be repaired (I don't need help with the airlift or repairs I've got that covered, just need help on making the vehicles hull and engine invulnerable.) Are there any scripts out there which can help me a achieve this? I was looking into the "SetHit" functionality etc but I am a total noob when it comes to scripting. To be completely honest with you I'd love for someone to figure this out for me as I really don't have a lot of time to dedicate to testing and playing about with things myself
  22. Don't know if this is the right place to post this but I need some vehicles converted and modeled for arma 3. My server has full permission from the owners of the models, to convert the models and use the models. Please join this discord (https://discord.gg/tNvCqGs) and ask to speak (in our general-text chat) to Paul Mahone. More details will be given when you talk to Paul. Below is something we want modeled/converted: Something close to this (We have a model to go off of) ---> https://gyazo.com/17fe6c93b4c95c5eee72550a4d90514a
  23. After some overwhelming feedback I turned this into a full addon. This includes a roadmap, milestones, and a changelog. What does this mod aim for? This mod tries to refine, optimize and perfect the vehicle physics due to totally remade config values, parameters and code. Does this mod conflict with any other mod? As far as I know not. This mod only overrides the vanilla A3 vehicles without changing any of its usability or function. It could happen that this mod interfers with AGM. But I have not tested it. 24. I have got this code casGroup = _this select 0; casPos = _this select 1; casSpawn = _this select 2; _getIn = casGroup addWaypoint [position player, 0]; [casGroup, 1] setWaypointType "GETIN NEAREST"; when I fly a helicoper to the AI he won't get in, but with a boat it has. I have not tried with a car. (the heli was a hellenic mod one) what is wrong with the code that makes this happen, or is it the mod edit: with waypoints in the editor the AI happily get into the heli
  25. I've got some issues with vehicles in convoys and need a way to debug them. Short question: How can I access the functions shown in this picture by BI: (source: https://dev.arma3.com/post/ai-path-following-improvements) I'm mainly interested in the vehicle path, but the speed and steering graphs would be nice as well. Long question: My main problem are randomly stopping vehicles. I set up a mission with a convoy, which has a defined start- and endpoint. The vehicles get spawned at the startpoint, start to move as a convoy and get despawned at the endpoint. So far so good, the script is working fine. But somewhere on their way some of the vehicles just stop and won't move any further except for the leader. The leader then reduces its speed for the other vehicles to catch up, which never happens. The stopped vehicles wait for about 1 minute and then even shut off their engine, as if they had no destination. When the leader reaches its destination and gets despawned, some of the stopped vehicles start moving again and the same thing repeats itself until every vehicle got to its destination (which takes hours). To debug this behavior, I need some kind of debug function that shows me why they are stopping. Thus the question how I can show the vehicle path from the provided picture.
