  1. I am designing a horror themed operation and needed a cut scene for my big bad's evil speech. I cut together a video and put it in the .ogv video format and am calling it via a trigger and a script. The script moves the players to specific spots and faces them, disables their simulation and damage, plays the video, times music to play in sync with a specific point of the video, and then re-enables their damage and simulation. Everything is moving perfectly and is timed up with uIsleeps with the exception of the video itself. The video appears to be playing back at a speed ratio of almost 2:1. The audio sounds normal, but the visuals are incredibly sped up and the video ends drastically ahead of schedule, cutting the audio out when the visuals finish. I've tried calling the video in two different ways, the first being: ["videos\TimorSpeech.ogv"] call BIS_fnc_playvideo; and the second: ["videos\TimorSpeech.ogv"] remoteExec ["BIS_fnc_playVideo", ([0, -2] select isDedicated)]; Both work in calling the video, both result in the same issue. The playback of the video is remarkably consistent and is ending at about the same time each time. I have nothing in the script or the trigger that should be adjusting time speed or scale. Below is the entirety of the script. The script is called with execVM "scripts\BigBad.sqf"; Any idea why the video playback would be so accelerated or how I might remedy it?   2. so i watched the dev-video „How to Create a Scenario in Game Master for Arma Reforger“. i builded one myself; i can save it; and i can load it again in my offline gamemaster. but i can‘t load it to the gamemaster-mode of my nitrado server. the mission appears in the loading screen, but it does not load it (it doesn‘t stop loading…) i tried without any mods, so thats not the problem. i tried the same directly on the server (with the ‚game master enhanced‘-mod, so i could save the scenario) - same error. i‘ve read in the comments of the video that other people have the same issue. are we doing something wrong or isn‘t this working yet? thanks
  3. Good morning, I would like to know if it is possible to put a video in a workshop mod and then show it on a server to all players. Currently I know how to create a mod in the workshop to put custom music but I would like to know if it is possible and how to put a video in the mod to subsequently put a command on a server to be played to all players. I have tried to search but I have not found a way, if anyone knows how to do it I would be very grateful.
  4. Hello all. I am trying to make a mission where the players have a video display on their HUD as if they are holding a phone. I know to start with BIS_fnc_playVideo But I am not sure where to get this onto the HUD for a phone sized option instead of all over. I have the video set up and playing on the "TV", so I hope that's just the hard part over with. I appreciate any advice.
  5. Hi! I'm trying to find a way to insert an ogg video in my mission like in Arma 3 campaign. I have a several problems with BIS_fnc_playvideo (or similar command, sorry). One of them and the most important is that i don't know how to pause the multiplayer game while the video is playing. Have you got any suggestions? Wish you all the best, gerFid
  6. Hi Community, I plan to play a small highlight video for our Battlegroup at the end of an ingame campaign. This also works wonderfully on the Dedicated. As a screen, I chose the Land_Billboard_F, which works so far and is perfect for about 15 people viewing at the same time. But every time the video starts, the standard Texture with path "a3\structures_f\civ\infoboards\data\billboard_metal_co.paa" is loaded with a metal and cracked effect, which makes the quality of the display very poor. I have now tried to set a white .paa in the texture field of the object editor, but this is also replaced when the video is starting. And the setting of foreground and background colors in white or black by BIS_fnc_playVideo does not come into play either. How do I get rid of the switch to the standard .paa when starting the video? Do I have to set or change configs there? I haven't gotten into that part yet. I am very grateful for every tip and help. Part of the belonging Script:
  7. Hi, I have been playing ARMA II and ARMA III since they first came out, purchase APEX within its release week. Some would say I am an Armalcoholic with over 4k hours... A couple of years ago, I spoke to a lots of people like developers, ArmA Pros, ArmA geeks... you name it, asking all of them the same question: What's is going on with the faraway view +1.5km, 2km and the scenery being detached from the ground? Player running off the ground? All answered "it's the way it is for now" , "it might be fixed one day..." At that time, I was using a Radeon serie 9000, x6 multi screen option. I purchase a GTX1070 last winter, and I'd like to know if there is a way to stop having these boulders, housing and players showing themselves off the ground, like suspended in the air... (I have tried countless setting options in game, off game, Win7, NVIDIA) Thank you very much for your inputs.

  10. Here is a video I made on operations fools gold, a PVP zombie mission: Operation Fools Gold The world has been hit by a deadly "Zombie" like plague. Many nations have either collapsed or shut their doors to the outside world in the hopes of fending off the legions of dead now roaming the earth. Whispers of a vaccine being developed in the epicentre of the plague have enticed many mercenaries to try and recover such a valuable item as it would fetch a pretty penny. Your mission will be to recover said vaccine and escape the hell hole that is chernarus. Your search will start at the Green mountain Comms post where a prominent scientist along with what was left of the local military units had been broadcasting from. Good luck.
  11. So my aim is to have a video window in a dialog using RscPicture (and by extension RscVideo) type control. However I am running into reliability problems. Most of the time the video won't play and sometimes there are horrible compression issues, but it does work sometimes even if rarely. My first guess was that perhaps the video I was using was somehow bad so tested the dialog using the preview videos for the main menu spotlights and the problems persist.     Out of video memory?

    Hello. Received an error message today which said: ”Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting” And I’m booted off the game which hard closes and I’m back on the dashboard? Lost all my gear and loot. That’s a pretty big one. Are the devs aware of this? Working to fix? Cheers
  13. Some of you who followed my stream know that I was able to put my hands on two great rigs, thanks to the good colleagues and friends I have (kudos to them). I did spend a bit of time to benchmark both rigs - that differ only in the CPU and Motherboard - to get an idea on which one was "best" for ArmA 3 in 2020. Some details on the testing: the benchmark scenario is YAAB v1.0 created by Greenfist each setting (low/ultra) was tested 5 times and I picked the best of 5 the delta was consistently ~2 fps for each run, in both rigs this means that the difference in % between the worst AMD run and the worst Intel run is the same difference between the average AMD and the average Intel.. and the same between the best AMD and the best Intel I did run the same background tasks and killed unnecessary things, trying to keep things as consistent as possible I did keep the NVIDIA Drivers the same (the latest released at the time of the test) Things I want to make clear: I am not bashing any brand or taking a side, I do not own any of the two rigs I compared so I am not even attached to them on financial grounds I'd be happy to answer your questions in case you are about to spend money and want to have more info before committing I am not an expert at overclocking but I did document myself at the best of my possibilities before committing (especially in order to avoid breaking stuff that is not mine) I did get a lot of help from people in here, namely Oldbear, Groove_C and Tankbuster, plus on other channels by other people I am opening this thread so it's easier to find for future reference I had fun making this comparison and I hope this is as much fun to you when watching it I noticed AMD vs Intel topics can get pretty toxic (as if other threads wouldn't) but I know the ArmA 3 community knows better See you on the field

  15. Redownloaded Arma 3 and bought all expansions last night. Powered on computer today and was gonna work on a MP mission map till I saw this. They look like small ants leaving a trail. It effects it in game as well: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198069521772/screenshot/949585778310830129 I did download some mods last night (ACE3, Chernarus Redux, CUP Core, CUP Terrains, a couple of plane mods, etc. (I did download a mod that does a particle illumination for flares and lights but I had removed that mod along with the ones listed). Not sure if those might be the issues but those mods were removed this morning when I noticed the weird effects. Any type of video setting changes that refreshes the screen to accept new changes, will only reset the issue. Anyone had this problem before and if so, how did you fix it? TIA

Iv got this in my screen object init. but an error said Picture \music\tor1.ogv could not be found. this setObjectTexture [1,"\music\tor1.ogv"]; This works fine with a texture and i know the ogv is in the music folder. where do it put this part ? call BIS_fnc_playVideo;
  17. EVS expands the normal graphics settings with higher/lower options. This is an experimental mini-mod. Some settings may not work or may cause issues. Originally made for getting the best possible quality out of screenshots, and for that this is still probably most usable. Usage: open the video settings and try the new levels for the old options. Features: View distance goes up to 40,000m - this was already possible through scripting. The normal limit in the options was 20km. shadow distance 5,000m - above ~500m will cause some glitching and a heavy hit on performance. Terrain detail Ultra+ - grass clutter renders further and distant terrain is slightly more detailed. - Setting overrides the vanilla limit on very high terrain view distances. - may kill your fps. more and a bit bigger particles - not fully verified. The vanilla ultra setting is already near maximum apparently. Needs more testing. higher resolution shadows - very noticeable effect in more distant shadows lower/higher textures and object detail - not very noticeable effect, except in the low end. better clouds - slightly more volume in some situations more dynamic lights - the vanilla limit is 16 lights, EVS uses the maximum hard-coded limit of 32. (I don't understand why it's set so low on normal ultra.) More depth of field and sharpening - beyond reasonable levels. 2 new Post processing presets - just for my personal preference for Altis & Tanoa.   19. If, like I was, you are not able to fire or shoot while moving, it is not normal or really as designed by the game. The issue is caused by a little confusion about what is called Combat Pace in Arma 3. Hope this video helps. I also include a tip that can be useful even for veterans or elite players (a keybind that, when you are clicking, automatically allows you to fire even if you were not in Combat Pace at the moment). I have not seen this discussed anywhere here or elsewhere, so maybe I am one of the few who had this issue. Just in case, I am posting it here. Second video ever, Cheers

    Good day Arma 3 Fans and mod players! Myself and many members of my community have recently started playing a mod called Overthrow, Overthrow is a fantastic mod in which players work together to destabilise towns and take them over in order to takeover the map. With every Cop or Civilian killed influence is gained or lost, during the game NATO forces will attempt to retake and battle for positions which makes for dynamic and interesting game play. It's a thoroughly enjoyable mod and can be downloaded through this page below which also provides more information as the Mod has many features.   21. Hello, I am trying to build a mission in arma 3 but i want to have cutscene's in this mission. After some googeling i found this page: I followed that instructions and it does work but every time a trigger with video is activated i get this error: Picture t\effect_ca.paa not found. what i want is just to play a video I saved in the mission file when a trigger is activated. I don't understand how scripting works yet so for now I am copy pasting video's most of the time. Is there anyone who knows how this works and can tell me how to fix this error?

  25. Hi all. I can't figure out why the video intro I've made is interrupted in middle of playing. It works in preview window but when deployed on dedicated server it jumps out of video in the middle of playing it.
