Some of you who followed my stream know that I was able to put my hands on two great rigs, thanks to the good colleagues and friends I have (kudos to them). I did spend a bit of time to benchmark both rigs - that differ only in the CPU and Motherboard - to get an idea on which one was "best" for ArmA 3 in 2020. Some details on the testing: the benchmark scenario is YAAB v1.0 created by Greenfist each setting (low/ultra) was tested 5 times and I picked the best of 5 the delta was consistently ~2 fps for each run, in both rigs this means that the difference in % between the worst AMD run and the worst Intel run is the same difference between the average AMD and the average Intel.. and the same between the best AMD and the best Intel I did run the same background tasks and killed unnecessary things, trying to keep things as consistent as possible I did keep the NVIDIA Drivers the same (the latest released at the time of the test) Things I want to make clear: I am not bashing any brand or taking a side, I do not own any of the two rigs I compared so I am not even attached to them on financial grounds I'd be happy to answer your questions in case you are about to spend money and want to have more info before committing I am not an expert at overclocking but I did document myself at the best of my possibilities before committing (especially in order to avoid breaking stuff that is not mine) I did get a lot of help from people in here, namely Oldbear, Groove_C and Tankbuster, plus on other channels by other people I am opening this thread so it's easier to find for future reference I had fun making this comparison and I hope this is as much fun to you when watching it I noticed AMD vs Intel topics can get pretty toxic (as if other threads wouldn't) but I know the ArmA 3 community knows better See you on the field

Hi, as i know Arma 3 uses only Cpu Physix from Nvidia. Until now, Physix Cpu AND Gpu is completely Open Source. Source (German): http://www.pcgameshardware.de/PhysX-Software-229957/News/Nvidia-GPU-Open-Source-Quellcode-1270556/ Does this have any impact to Arma 3 in the Future? Hope we can get an update on this for Arma 3, with maybe some performance increase, because Arma 4 (if it will come) is not around the corner. Maybe some Developer can answer this. Greetings Toby

Since i updated my rig with a EVGA Superclocked 1070 ARMA 3 keeps freezing and/or crashing after about 15-20 minutes playing. Without any mod it runs for maybe 10-15 more minutes but still the game freezes, my screen goes black and i can't see anything! The PC underneath is working, i can sometimes Alt+Tab and close the game via Task manager but most of the times my monitor just fades to black or even goes in standby and i have to disconnect my Win user or even reset with the MOBO button. I've tried fiddling with launcher parameters but nothing really changes. Is that a common issue? Wrong place to ask, i know but the black screen thing really bothers me...does anybody have problems with this GPU playing other games too? My rig is: MB: ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 (Latest BIOS) CPU: Intel i7 4770k 3.5Ghz GPU : EVGA Superclocked 1070 8GB (i had an Saffire 290X 4GB which worked fine) RAM: G-Skill DDR 1600Mhz 4x4GB SSD: Samsung EVO 840 (game is installed here) HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB (used just as an archive for work and music) PSU : XFX 750W This is the typical log after the games shuts down:

Over 4k hrs on ArmA II & III and..........
Whatevername posted a topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Hi, I have been playing ARMA II and ARMA III since they first came out, purchase APEX within its release week. Some would say I am an Armalcoholic with over 4k hours... A couple of years ago, I spoke to a lots of people like developers, ArmA Pros, ArmA geeks... you name it, asking all of them the same question: What's is going on with the faraway view +1.5km, 2km and the scenery being detached from the ground? Player running off the ground? All answered "it's the way it is for now" , "it might be fixed one day..." At that time, I was using a Radeon serie 9000, x6 multi screen option. I purchase a GTX1070 last winter, and I'd like to know if there is a way to stop having these boulders, housing and players showing themselves off the ground, like suspended in the air... (I have tried countless setting options in game, off game, Win7, NVIDIA) Thank you very much for your inputs. -
After 1.68 update, the grass around me started to bug with this white flickering color. What should I do? Btw, Nvidia card in my rig!

Welcome to the #Armachinima Awards! In this new contest, we’re inviting you to deliver the best Arma 3 cinematic video ever created – to entertain the troops, and to win a top-tier NVIDIA graphics card! What’s a machinima? The dictionary suggests: machinima / məˈʃɪnɪmə / noun: the practice or technique of producing animated films through the manipulation of video game graphics. For the purpose of this contest, an ‘armachinima’ is a directed cinematic video using Arma 3 game graphics. Whether it’s long or short, a full-length feature film, a documentary, a trailer, or even just an ‘experience’ – every type of video is welcome, as long as they have cinematic qualities. So prepare your storyboards, get ready to capture, enlist friends and family for (voice-)acting, and put the Eden Editor to use! But even if you’re not competing, you can participate by voting for the 10 nominees starting from February 14th. Afterwards, the Arma 3 development team will select 3 winners from the nominees, which will be announced in the beginning of March. Aside from glory, 1st place will be awarded a beastly NVIDIA GTX 1080, while 2nd and 3rd place will receive a magnificent NVIDIA GTX 1070 graphics card. The perfect prizes for those who are into gaming and video production! Additionally, all 10 nominees will receive an Arma 3 t-shirt.
