  1. Our clan started as a Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars clan. For people who played it you know the stuff(linebattles etc). We decided that we should expand our clan. While we still do NW we decided to also play Arma 3 amongst other things( HOI4 War thunder Total war). I myself have a duty of recruiting so the job of recruiting for Arma 3 came on my head(because thats what happens when you are an NCO in the recruiting team). But enough with the background. We want to start our Arma 3 branch of the clan so im pretty new in the Arma 3 recruitment department so some stuff may be out of place. We currently have 12 people amongst our ranks that have Arma 3 and participate in Arma 3 events or as we call them "expeditions". Now i dont really know how many people we get per every Arma 3 event(somewhere between 5 to 10 maybe) but we obviously will start slow in Arma.(our clan has more people but obviously for Mount and Blade) In terms of clan rules we allow: -any type of language because our guys like jokes and really dont get offended -we are semi-milsim but depending on the guys attending we may step up a notch and use a realism mode(like Ace 3 etc). -we accept anyone no matter the experience or in how many clans they were before we are all learning togheter -we dont do required attendence events like other clans may do so its imposible for you to get kicked for not attending regularly -even if you joined for Arma you can always go to our other events without any formalities(enlisting again for other games by talking with a CO or NCO)- -obviously the game is much better when you have friends to play with so you can recruit any of your friends to join What do we exactly do in Arma you ask? Well we play custom missions for now but we are obviously open to experimenting on other things. We also do escape from Altis since its much harder to escape with a 8 man team then with a duo.We are thinking of doing Insurgency mode but that is a tiring mode which takes more than one event(our events usually lasting between 1 hour on paper or 2 depending if people want to extend the event period) Do I need any DLCs or other mods? We never really ask people to buy DLCs(screw you bohemia we keepin our money) but you may be asked to get some mods from the workshop like the one for our teamspeak server so you can hear people in teamspeak only when you are close(i think its called Task Force Arrowhead) but other then some few modes no.   2. Hey everyone, I've gone and created a pretty ambitious first mission with multiple paths depending on how effectively the player can assist ground forces. I've completed the mission but I want to refine one of my scripts. I've tried to educate myself as much as possible but I can't seem to find a tutorial/forum post for my specific problem. One of the objectives for the player to complete involves destroying reinforcements dropped off via helicopter. I had scripted the objective to be completed by killing the infantry and destroying their supporting gunship. However, I scripted it using specific names for each individual troop, ie !alive Heli_Troop1a && !alive Heli_Troop1b && !alive Heli_Troop2a etc etc. It was a brute force method to sort of get the effect I wanted and required specific units to be killed. I am looking for a way for each squad member to be counted, totaled, and compared against a desired value. I'm using 7 as that value as that is about 1/3 of all the troops. The script I have tried using in the trigger is: ({alive _x} count units Heli_Troops1 + Heli_Troops2 + Heli_Troops3) < 7 && !alive Heli_2 && triggerActivated Trig_Heli_Troops; The editor accepts the code but upon starting the mission I get an error message about a generic error in expression. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but then again I barely know any real scripting beyond simple commands I can look up. I have also tried multiple different ways of writing the count units section of code including using && instead of + and separating each group name with (). None have worked. If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. Edit: Disregard solved it! (({alive _x} count units Heli_Troops1) + ({alive _x} count units Heli_Troops2) + ({alive _x} count units Heli_Troops3)) < 7 && !alive Heli_2 && triggerActivated Trig_Heli_Troops; Still kind of a roundabout way I feel, but it works. Maybe this can help someone else.
  3. We are an ArmA based gaming community, that follows the 1st Cavalry Division throughout History. Primarily we focus ourselves around the Vietnam War, however we also host operations set during the Second World War, Korean War, and many other Cold War/ Modern conflicts. We utilize three separate custom modpacks to give you the most immersive and fun experience possible. In addition to ArmA events, we also host "game nights" where our members congregate to play an assortment of many other games in an organized fashion.     Would anyone want to start a Mil-sim unit with me, I have 2 years of milsim experience, being a Squad Leader, Recruit instructor, and Processor for the my previous unit. Once in every three to six months, we conduct official large scale campaigns with dedicated stories that involve up to 6 missions. Our campaigns usually include combined operations (land, sea and air simultaneously) using more diversity of addons, while being played alone or with the cooperation of another unit/group/clan. Unit Structure All operations, events, doctrine, and administration are managed though four administrative components: Headquarters Branch - main component, supervising the entire unit. Training Branch - specialized in providing the best quality and investment of learning and qualifying on various subjects, from the basic gameplay mechanics to infantry combat and leadership. Operations Branch - focusing on all operational aspects including the creation of operations and campaigns, as well as the strategic and tactical structures. Development & Maintenance Branch - making sure that each foundation on the technical side of the unit is working accordingly, all day - every day.   12. Hello this is a project i've been working on for awhile now. I've been tracking female mods in a3 and each one has never either released or just use a2 women/heads. Wanting a bit more i've decided to go ahead and make my own female meshes for a few of my projects. The scope of this mod is the following. Create a custom female mesh that will use the a3man skeleton Create a custom head model. Create custom civilian clothes for female model.   13. 7CMBG has been around since 2007 through ARMA 2 and is now solely an ARMA 3 unit. We are the oldest Canadian Armed Forces MILSIM unit in the ARMA community. Our goal is to build a professional-looking unit with great servers and like-minded people to have fun in an immersive environment. 7CMBG as a MILSIM unit that looks for realism and follows strict ROEs when the mission or campaign calls for them. We pride ourselves on being immersive and realistic in how our missions are made and planned; but allowing our members to operate freely and have a good time while remaining as realistic as possible. Roles: We are comprised of an air detachment and a mechanized infantry regiment. If you have the aptitude to pass the entry requirements, you can pursue becoming a pilot of everything from CH-146 Griffon Helicopters to the Fixed-Wing CF-18 Hornet. The infantry path starts with your basic qualifications course to work with the standard equipment starting from the C7 rifle and working your way up to the Carl Gustav. As an infantryman you will learn the roles of rifleman, light machine gunner, heavy AT gunner and basic field medic. As you become proficient in the weapons and tactics of the unit you may progress through the ranks and assume a leadership position. I need a easier way to spawn random units instead of individually pulling all classes from the in game editor and pasting it while adding quotations and commas like this: ["B_mas_med_Army_ENG_F", "B_mas_med_Army_EXP_F", "B_mas_med_Army_GL_F",]. I want to use a script that when called it will pull a random unit from a given side of a given type (infantry, land, air) and spawn them in a group. The group will be filled with random units. I also want it to pull units from mods that I download. I dont want to have to keep updating the script every time I download another unit mod. The mod MMC sandbox has no problem in doing this but I dont know how they did it.

Jester Ops Quick Info: Region: Oceania/Australian Server Style: Semi-Realistic Size: 16-20 regulars Discord: discord.gg/ERje2HD Arma 3 Unit: units.arma3.com/unit/jester Mission dates: Fridays/Sundays alternating every fortnight. We are a medium sized group with an active player base of around 16-20 members, but many more within our discord who join us once in a while. The style of the group can be best described as semi-realistic. We are currently on a recruitment drive to expand our size to a full platoon of regular players, both to widen our experience within missions as well as making use of more refined and detailed tactics. Our focus is on enjoying the game in an immersive manner, without bogging it down with procedure. During missions we like to make use of squad tactics, formations, radio procedure and pre-assigned roles. We play our campaign missions every fortnight, alternating between fridays and sundays, beginning at 1930 AEST. We also have off-night missions semi-regularly, depending on whether one of the mission makers is interested in running as zeus.   21. 197th Special Task and Recon [197STAR] 197STAR is a fictional semi-real style Arma 3 unit, focusing on infantry combat. We are a multinational unit with members from Europe and the USA, running operations at 1900BST on Sunday nights, with mini ops and other games throughout the week. 197STAR is a NATO styled infantry based unit. We run with the principles of being Nationless and Role-less, meaning that we do not force anyone to play as a particular nation, and we do not restrict ourselves to just doing Infantry style ops, or just doing Special Forces style ops, as an example. We run a medium sized modpack of ~50 mods, including ADV - ACE Medical and RHS/Project OPFOR. There is a large selection of uniform and kit mods for you to customise your character to what you see fit. We are a semi-real unit. This means that we follow NATO tactics and have a NATO styled ORBAT, but don't enforce the more milsim things such as rank seniority or mandatory training. We only ask that you complete a simple basic training run by one of our instructors, and communicate with us in the case of having to take leave of absence. We expect you to attend the main operation each week, but if you can't, just let us know and it's not an issue.   22. Hello, my fellow community friends! I have a very "strange" and at the same time interesting idea, having seen it in various FPS games. As you all know, in some games, during a stealth mission, the main character must stay in cover and undetected by the enemy... for at least as long as possible in order to complete a secret task or avoid being captured, being behind enemy lines. A little example is Battlefield 1, where the player was behind the German lines and had to stay hidden for the enemy for as long as possible and then, when detected, fight his way back to the friendlies. I was wondering if such a eye awareness (spotting) system can be somehow created, using all the information and possible commands, scripts and "magics" that exist among the community, no matter if they are vanilla ones or BIS'. For example: when an enemy is spotting the player or his teammates, the knowledge begins to arise a little, and a marker, like in those games I mentioned, starts to appear, changing also its color from white to red. By "knowledge" I mean "X knowsAbout player >..." And this would vary from 0 to the highest possible number, may be 4 in this case. So, we'd need a complex script, including all possible variants up to this highest number, which are checked one by one, and when they start to grow, this action would respond or represent the marker value and visibility on the screen, which means it also should get bigger and more red with the time. And, of course, if the player is no longer being spotted by enemy AIs, it should start to dissapear, using the same method backwards. Another command, reveal, also may come in handy, if it is possible to use it as well, or to combine both. I know it sounds complicated, but if such a marker is not possible to be displayed, how about any other kind of indicator, like an alarm, or anything else. A possible marker to use is the already existing one, by using the "use" button for marking something on the map, where a yellow marker with a sounds appears at the marked direction. So, do you think now that my idea sounds crazy... or it's a perfect new option to use in missions... 😉
