OMAC 254 Posted August 3, 2012 Ha! I was just kidding around about pre-release community testing, which is a preposterous idea. Why is it preposterous? 1) BIS already has community testers (everyone who posts in CIT), and they do it for free, but AFTER release. Hey, it's fun to test! 2) BIS gets testers to PAY to test (Pay and Contribute - good one, kraze!) 3) Community testing may make sense for a small (and talented) company like AWAR, but not for a world-class company like BIS which is flush with cold DayZ cash and already has a QA/QC department 4) We'll buy anything they put out that is milsim-related, regardless of bug content........so far P.S.: I'm having lots of fun with ACR, despite some issues. But whatever you do, don't be stupid like I was and put G36 SD ammo in an unsuppressed CZ Bren: all your shots hit about 1m above your crosshair! :j:
ravendk 25 Posted August 3, 2012 I wonder how many of the errors are caused by 3rd party mods such as ACE ..

froggyluv 2136 Posted August 3, 2012 Mind you, watch how the McDonalds forum would look like if said large meal would be as full of bugs as ACR.It is not the price that is the problem, it is the shoddy workmanship. Regards, Sander Yes because McDonalds is know for their quality worksmanship  If a picky eater, then wait before you buy, pretty simple really. And lol at McDonalds forum - must be a smashing place :p
Overlord 0 Posted August 3, 2012 Lots of anger. Is it the price? Won't ACR work well with tons of other mods? Feel ripped off? Can't be the price, a decent bottle of wine cost ACR x3 here (and I've not even begun talking about Cognac yet)... Can't be the mods, they don't work anyway (without lots of patches, tweaks, bug-fixes and daily updates)... Ergo, you feel ripped off. Like it's OK to pay 20x ACR for a pair of designer trousers (or a month membership at a porn-site)? Please stop complaining ppl, if you don't want the DLC, don't buy it. Simple as that. As I know BIS they will fix any issues with that DLC. Why I'm so sure? When was patch 1.99 for OFPR released? Talk with people in PSP community, or other "gaming" community, they have darker and more horrible stories to tell :P

sander 14 Posted August 3, 2012 It should also be taken into account that what the bought DLC adds (prettier textures) is not what is wrong with it, that has to do with the underlying basic structure that has so many problems that it is just not up to scratch, it really is not. Overlord 0 Posted August 3, 2012 (and a decent bottle of wine costs much less than 20 €...). Won't make this to a wine discussion, but since it's the only new fact you bring on board; according to this page (divide with 8 for €), under Pris (price), you'll see 1/3 is under your limit. You won't find any decent there, I assure you :nono: Sorry, I still support BIS, and are off to check Nix Alpha ;)
rangerpl 13 Posted August 3, 2012 My gripe is with the DRM which is something I'd expect from someone like Ubisoft or EA.
icebreakr 3157 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) I spent more on a pizza and 2 beers today - ACR is cheap and I would give 10 EUR to BIS just to thank them for putting in a new Skoda Octavia under Civilian cars ;) I kinda got used to ppl always complaining around here, but just a few (%) actually know to fix an issue and help you with a project :) Edited August 3, 2012 by IceBreakr
Borklund 10 Posted August 3, 2012 When is this coming out on Steam? I want to buy the damn thing, but in the same place where I've got all my other ArmA stuff. Why the delay? Is it purely to drive sales to your own online store? Is it a technical issue? Manpower/resources issue?

Stagler 39 Posted August 4, 2012 Well I have played with the DLC for 5 hours now. Had a few firefights. Enjoyed myself at the firing range, and completed the first mission in the campaign. There is bugs, a few quite noticable ones, such as the BMP1s ATGM being intent on launching Sputnik by itself, the terrible english in the briefings :p, and the lower lod trees even at close range. But I am happy with the content. The new hind with the many ATGMs is nice. As is all the other features of the BMP1, including its detailed interior. The maps, besides the lower lod tree bug, are beautiful. They do seem fresh and unique, even if I visit places I have visited before on Chernarus. The ACR units are nice. The Pandur is pretty neat, as is the Dingo and Landy Ambulance. They were nice additions. The infantry are also good quality. The weapons however have this weird shine and glow to them. I think the RVMATs may be squiffed or wrong. The weapons look like they need to be less shiny and more drab, like the camo painted M4s, instead of standing out like polished silver. A few fixes, and this will be right as rain to release on steam to majority market :p
ceeeb 147 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) I'd just like to add another opinion that ACR is at a lower, amateurish standard when compared to previous DLCs. There may be a lot of content for the price, but much of it has obvious problems or is of low quality. Hopefully these problems will be patched. Given the timing of this release, two years after OA, I can't understand why ACR should feel so rushed and buggy. There is no dead line to meet, and BI shouldn't be short of cash right now either. I hope BI spend more time/money focusing on the quality of their future work. I would happily accept a smaller amount of high quality content, rather than a large volume of low quality content. jakerod 254 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Despite the overeall buggy and unfinished feeling of the DLC I must say I did enjoy a lot of the missions. I would've done some things differently in a few of them but overall they were fun. More on that in the Spoiler section since I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. I wish the OPFOR in the campaign would've been more unique. Even just giving them FN-FALs and other weapons would've made me feel like I was fighting someone else. Although new models would've been even nicer or at least reskinned and updated old ones so they could have backpacks. I'm also not sure why you guys didn't just redo Chernarus in Summer colors and add or remove a few things similar to how United Sahrani was back in ArmA: QG. The opposite side of the river, where as it does add some new mission possibilities, doesn't add many especially since, last time I checked, the AI doesn't know how to use railroad bridges. Not to mention it also would've fit in with the AAN Article from way back when. Could've done a similar thing for Takistan. Once again, new terrains would've been cool too but that can be time consuming. War Criminal: I had a lot of fun here. There were two instances that really stick out to me because I made good use of my men and a Barrett. It would've been better if the objectives had to be searched before being told they were clear though. Or at the very least the player had to be within 10m of a building or something. Patrol: It took me a while to warm up to this one. Towards the end I started to enjoy it more. Man's Best Friend: A cool concept. Fireworks: I also liked this one although I did terrible the first few times I played it. Wind Storm: For some reason I had a hard time taking out Offroads with the Cannon. That was kind of annoying but once I adjusted my tactics I liked it. Dum Spiro Spero: One of my favorites. I liked the stealthy aspect which is something I normally don't care for. It was fun sneaking up on the guys around the camp fires and then having to follow the car. My men were really slow once we started following the UAZ though. Kept pulling out their rangefinders. I eventually had them drop them. I wish you would've included a finished original Dum Spiro Spero that was hidden away in OA though too. Thunderstorm: This one was cool. I really liked the getting shot down concept. I wish it was an optional thing though. As in if you're a crappy pilot with me and take too much damage your engine dies. It seems like it always happens to me. On my first play through I took some damage and assumed that was why the engine died. I ejected thinking "Oh the mission is going to end here." And it didn't and I LOVED it. Sitting on a hill watching every direction trying to hold off the militia. As the Mi-17 came in the door gunner was lighting up guys that were coming over on top of the LZ as the Apache circled. Really great moment. There Will Be Flood: I honestly skipped this one. It's a cool concept and all but my boat kept getting stuck inside of things and I didn't want to get 11 of the people back and then get stuck on a fence. I did play the template version of it before too and I enjoyed that one too. Overall, I would've liked a bit more of a story (Zabu is the only character I remember) and for the campaign to all be tied in together but I still had a lot of fun. Nice work! Thorn Tree was pretty fun too although I pretty much just kept driving the entire time until an RPG took out my tires. Then I hopped onto the gun as 3 repaired us and 2 covered him. Still fun though. I wish the templates worked a bit better. The hunting one works on the terrain it was played on in the campaign but not on the airfield one. It seems to just put locations out in no-man's land. My fault for not hitting Edit. Well kind of, some of the hideouts are still off the map. Edited August 4, 2012 by Jakerod
tremanarch 6 Posted August 4, 2012 the woods look really realistic. It looks better than the former cherna somehow - maybe because its new and shiny.
hellfire257 3 Posted August 4, 2012 Looks like BAF will retain its title as the best DLC. I get the impression that a lot more care went into it than ACR.

metalcraze 290 Posted August 4, 2012 Another sad thing is that Dwarden aka the voice of BIS said that they understand that BAF would've been even greater if it had more content (I want mah Chally) and that PMC was a letdown. And yet here we are.
Placebo 29 Posted August 4, 2012 Dwarden is not the voice of BIS. There are many voices.
metalcraze 290 Posted August 4, 2012 Well he is our community manager, that should count for something. And in that case his voice is very adequate. BAF campaign was good, very OFP Res-like except with improved ArmA2 gameplay. But too damn short. Why not build upon that and make it bigger?
markb50k 1 Posted August 4, 2012 Id like to start doing some config changes to the ACR stuff. How are people dePBOing the new files? Or lacking that will the configs get on six browser?
jaysmizzle 3 Posted August 4, 2012 I just downloaded the ACR setup file. When I run the setup file and it begins to unpack the files my anti-virus software (Total Defense) recognizes a 'Win32/Etap" virus and appears to quarantine a file which I assume is the setup.exe file because later during the unpacking process I get an error that says "Error during execution 'setup.exe'. The system cannot find the file specified." This happens ever time I try to run the setup file downloaded straight from the bistudio website. This is a really bad virus too so its hard for me to even think about disabling my anti-virus software just to install ACR. I'm guessing no one else has had this issue?
