Haha... voice actor is the same as Cooper from Harvest Red :P And I love how the guy who talks at the very beginning sounds like a total dweeb... Who's in Delta Force

I don't think that depend on the wíndows curve, I also see some color change in video and I don't know what is it. But if glass is cold, then it's black in flir. It doesn't matter what is behind, only if you stick your hot face on glass, maybe then glass take heat from you and will emit infrared light. Glass is barrier for infrared light same like brick wall is barrier for visible light. That's how I understand it.

You're right, there was an episode on mythbusters where they experimented getting around a thermal camera, it turned out the only truley effective way was to simply use a pane of glass.

Not bad new boxart..it's not nearly as shouty, speaking of which please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't box art under the jurisdiction of the publisher?

Yes very nice dialogs. And very attractive action scenes, ordinary soldiers work

take abandoned zu-23 and shoot down planes, I enjoy this scene :rthumb: .

hum..

I for one think the voice sounds still need to be improved.

The extensive "ogg" chats are nice but the normal, fast and common communications when detecting enemies or reporting units do not sound natural. As if they are throwing up words..without natural space between words and that is taking out a lot of immersion and realistic feeling.

Though I believe with time this will be the "ARMAII never dies".

Keep it up BI! :)

We have asked for fluidness in the speech, and this sounds pretty good to me. It's fast, but it isn't a broken up and artificial put together as before - something you can't completely get away when building sentences like that. And frankly, I'd rather they get done talking as fast as possible, rather than "never get done, followed by the next guy that have something to say". Sometimes they do tend to state the obvious, and I'd hate that to take too long time. Fast talkers also exist in real life :p

Now, lets only hope they respect when we are on comms in multiplayer (or better yet, while we're holding an assigned key for external voice comms), and doesn't start chatting. But I'm not holding my breath for it. Probably have to disable AI chat again.

I like the new sounds being put to use. Factory sounds are also in Arma2, but I have never seen anyone actually use them. And, about time that old OFP alarm got replaced :D

Nice ref to AAN :p

It's an ACE thing, and its brilliant when you need to state compass bearings, since compass is not available in "optics" view.

Coopers voice!

Well I have to say he sounds more appropriate in this game, but I still hear recycled ambient sounds and recycled wound sounds (12 year old kid screech and the ah fuck my leg!)

Were they playing the game on Max settings anybody know?

The game looks much more pleasing with the colors the way they're during the saving screen, when it first happened I was like DAYUUUUM! :)

Helicopter pilot in that video seems to be a bit better than our good ole buddy StarForce. I hope that wasn't scripted and that the AI actually fly like that now.

Anyway, at 4:50 and onward. Shoot the gunner using IR. Good. Now, shoot the driver, who is behind glass (and thus invisible). Good. Driver then falls to his side and becomes visible? Is this a bug that just happened to turn out looking good, or is heat transfer (to cold window) actually modeled?

I was wondering about this also, to me it seems like the window was opened on the driver side and his head fell to that side so you could see it.

AI was playing bumper cars with the Tank wreck.

Now its almost June wheres the Demo!??

Its scripted. The player never issued orders.

I didn't mean in the sense that he was ordering them around. I suppose I should not have mentioned StarForce because I was trying to compare the AI pilot in OA to all the pilots in ArmA II not just StarForce. If the helicopter only has waypoints thats fine. I just hope that wasn't a bunch of code using setvelocity and stuff like that telling the pilot how to fly. If pilots fly like that with only waypoints, i'll be happy.

wow that vid made OA look boring

Why? Because it was more like a conducted operation rather than a frag fest?

Voices are definately better..sure you have the stray more bot-like phrases but you can't get everything perfect no matter how hard you try, it's also nice that they aren't shouting in the radio now such as on "Scratch one!"

Anyone interested, towards the later half of the video, there's a shot in the editor showing the user scrolling through all the blufor weapons. Get a look at some weapon variants such as the m14 with an aimpoint, and m110 with NV (assume night vision optics) and variants of other weapons. You'll have to go frame by frame to see them all.

here is the list of weapons, vehicles and characters visible in the video for those interested - please keep it secret for those who do not wish to know and remember that the preview version may only contain a part of what is offered to you June 29th:

I have added some comments in brackets for those who are new to the game - if you know all the weapon sights etc. just ignore it please.

There are two gaps where things may be missing.

How was that conducted like an operation. He lone wolfed it into an enemy camp like Rambo. Killed them all without being shot at once. Except for when he died the first try, that was cool. He then proceeded to man some 1970's era anti air gun and took down THREE aircraft effortlessly. Nothing to do with a ArmaII vs COD style of gameplay.

Sorry I wasn't quite clear and you're right it was very lone wolf, when I say operation I mean long drawn and with a longer time in between battles compared to the standard fps, more walk time rather than immediately in the fray.
