Contextual Interaction Menu - Proof Of Work
hoverguy posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi everyone, Yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine and we agreed that the Arma 3 action menu ain't that great or more generally: the way us, players, interact with the environment isn't that great, let's be honest. So I started to think about a way to improve the default interaction system and I decided to make my own. Later on that day, I came up with a little something that I decided to share a preview with you, the Arma 3 community. Let's have a look, shall we! Version #1 Version #2 - Houses Let me guys know what you think. Thank you.- 8 replies

server Enemy AI can't be alerted if client is far away from server
ministuff posted a topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Hi everyone, I'm quite noob when it comes to the server-client interaction in arma, so please bear with me on this one. So I was testing a mission with my friend, with him being the server. I noticed that when my position was close enough to him, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but when we're sufficiently far apart, like at least several kilometers, enemy AIs stopped responding to my gunshots (not going to alert) and will not try to engage, until I'm close enough to them (like 200m+ or so, even when they have weapons with long-ranged scope), while my friend, being the server, did not notice any problem at all (he still got sniped from 600m away). We tried some other simple scenarios and this kept happening so I concluded that it must have been arma's client-server thing. I've tried googling for the reference information about this but so far no luck, though pretty sure I'm just missing the right keyword, so can anyone please refer me to the relevant arma wiki page or any info page about this? Another question is, if this is indeed an issue with arma client-server interaction, would using dedicated server address this? Thank you in advance!- 1 reply

Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time. I have been doing missions in Arma 3 for quite some time now and after much troubleshooting and learning through places like these forums, I have learned a whole lot. There is one issue I have recently that I have not managed to work out, despite making search and research on it the google results and threads are different and unrelated ACE issues from mine; I have an ACE issue not with installation, or server, but only with a specific Liberation mission that I am trying to make work. My question is that I have not managed to figure out which might be the cause, specifically and I will admit that I am not really good at understanding RPT logs sometimes. I have included the latest RPT log in this post as well. No matter what kind of tests I have ran, the ACE interaction menu (Ctrl+Win/Win) does not work. Been at this for two days now. Some notes: - The issue only persist in that one mission, I create a blank new mission and ACE works. - ACE is fully loaded, as all content including items and addon options are there. - Only ACE Interaction menu is not working it seems. I have been doing a lot of troubleshooting on my own, this is one of the only times when I have not been able to figure out an issue on my own yet. Anyone who have an idea or input it is greatly appreciated. EDIT: Split up the RPT Log through pastebin. Civilian interaction in multiplayer
Dj Rolnik posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hello, I am in need of your guys's help when it comes to calling some functions or simply executing scripts for each player individually within Multiplayer. With the help of some friendly folk from the BI Forums I managed to come up with the below script. However, long story short is: I wanted to make a "civilian interaction" script which would allow all players to order civilians to "Get Down!" as well as "Get Out!". It is supposed to work after player respawn as well, so that's also worth pointing out. The script works fine until the point we connect to MP. From there it works only for my character (the civilian gets down and leaves the area when issued), but it does not work for other players on the server. They just play gestures and screm the voicelines I put there, but the civs do not react. I dare to believe it is due to how the script is called, where it is placed and probably something with the locality of the script and the civs called by it, if you may. I have tried calling functions, placing it in initPlayerLocal.sqf, but for the love of me, I cannot figure it out... This is how it looks currently: initPlayerLocal.sqf if (side player == blufor) then { player addAction ["Na ziemię!", {cursortarget call CivDown}]; player addAction ["Wynocha!", {cursortarget call CivGoAway}]; }; acim_fnc_playActionNow = { _unit = _this select 0; _gesture = _this select 1; _unit playActionNow _gesture; }; CivDown = { _civ =_this; _side = side _this; if (( _side == Civilian) && (_civ isKindOf "Man") && (alive _civ)) then { _random = 6; _randomResult = floor(random _random); switch (_randomResult) do { case 0: {[player, "get_down_on_the_ground"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 1: {[player, "get_down"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 2: {[player, "freeze"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 3: {[player, "freeze_2"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 4: {[player, "stop"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 5: {[player, "stop_right_there"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; }; [player, "gestureGo"] call acim_fnc_playActionNow; sleep 1; if (player distance _civ < 40) then { _civ disableAI "MOVE"; sleep 0.3; _civ setUnitPos "DOWN"; _civ setBehaviour "CARELESS";} }; }; CivGoAway = { _civ =_this; _side = side _this; if (( _side == Civilian) && (_civ isKindOf "Man") && (alive _civ)) then { _random = 6; _randomResult = floor(random _random); switch (_randomResult) do { case 0: {[player, "move_it"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 1: {[player, "go"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 2: {[player, "move"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 3: {[player, "get_the_hell_outta_here"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 4: {[player, "move_your_ass"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; case 5: {[player, "off_you_go"] call CBA_fnc_globalSay3d;}; }; [player, "gestureGo"] call acim_fnc_playActionNow; sleep 1; if (player distance _civ < 40) then { _civ enableAI "MOVE"; sleep 0.3; _civ setUnitPos "UP"; _civ setBehaviour "COMBAT"; _civ move (waypoint_trigger call BIS_fnc_randomPosTrigger);} }; }; I have also created a onPlayerRespawn.sqf which looks basically the same in case the action gets lost, so since the current state requires the script to work after respawns, it leads me to believe that all of it should not be placed in initPalyerLocal in the first place. I will be extremely grateful for someone helping me out with making the script work for all players and allowing them to order civilians to move. Thank you! Adam-

I have played the game for some hours and i have to say: a very big potential. But i think the most frustrating situations are caused by the too small interaction zones. No matter if its looting a car or a closet. Or if you try to go down a ladder or go up to get out of the water. I think in much situations it would fasten up the game if the zone of interaction with anything would be two or threetimes bigger.

Spawned ACE3 pressure plate IED not working
Spatsiba posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hi! I'm having issues spawning in ACE3 IED's with pressure plate activation on. Currently there's 50 IED's that spawn in, they're simulated objects and should (?) work with pressure plate, yet they don't. Here's the faulty script: if (!isserver) exitwith {}; //Theres a marker called center in the middle of the map _centerMrk = "center"; _dist = 25000; _center = getmarkerpos _centerMrk; _counter = 0; _rDist = 5.75; // Objects used as IEDs _iedList = [ "ACE_IEDLandBig_Range", "ACE_IEDLandSmall_Range", "ACE_IEDUrbanBig_Range", "ACE_IEDUrbanSmall_Range" ]; while {_counter < 50} do { //Create position on map for IED _list = _center nearRoads _dist; _iedType = _iedList select (floor random (count _iedList)); _road = _list select (round random (count _list)); _roadDir = getDir _road; _newDir = _roadDir; _dir = _newDir; _pos = getpos _road; _posx = _pos select 0; _posy = _pos select 1; _tx = (_posx + (_rDist * sin(_dir))); _ty = (_posy + (_rDist * cos(_dir))); _iedPos = [_tx,_ty,0]; //Create IED _trgMan = createVehicle ["I_C_Pilot_F", _center, [], 0, ""]; _ied = createVehicle [_iedType, _iedPos, [], 0, ""]; _ied setDir (random 360); _ied setPos getPos _ied; //So far so good, this is where I have to add some type of way to trigger them because they dont work by themselves like if you place them with zeus [_trgMan, _ied, "PressurePlate"] call ace_explosives_fnc_connectExplosive; deleteVehicle _trgMan; //Add IED to list _counter = _counter + 1; }; If anyone with knowledge about ACE3 could help me out that'd be highly appreciated. //Green -
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, First of all, I have no clue nor experience on how to script advanced stuff, but I've been recently wondering whether it would be possible to check, using some function that I may not be aware of, whether a (civilian) unit is being consciously aimed at/targeted within a certain radius/range like, let's say... 5 meters or something similar. The hypothetical scenario I would like to achieve, is the following: I would like to trigger a predetermined reaction when a certain unit is aware that he's being, like I said before, aimed at by a Bluefor soldier, but I'm not sure if such a thing is doable in an easy and struggle-free manner. Is there a command/function that I may study? Thank you in advance for the suggestions.
