  1. @tourist Thanks for the response and the suggestions. I'll give MCC a look as it sounds interesting. I would like to try ALIVE but unfortunately, I've tried several times and haven't been able to get it working yet. For some reason, I can never get my PC to show up as a server. I'm computer literate and I've tried several different tutorials but without any luck so far. I think it may be an issue with port forwarding, so I'll most likely give it another try but not anytime real soon as it's a bit time consuming.
  2. @kju Thanks for the response. I was reading through the wiki for the mod and saw mention of the optional pbo files but I wasn't aware that they haven't been released yet. I'm curious to know if they will deal with some of the historic anomalies that I'm seeing in some of the missions that I've been playing, such as German and Soviet soldiers with M67 frag grenades in their inventory or is that something that mission makers would have to deal with? Also, are there plans to add small watercraft for river crossings? I looked through this forum thread and other information that I could find and couldn't find any mention of small boats that would fit the time period. I don't know if row boats would even be possible but it would be nice to have something more appropriate than the modern inflatables with outboard motors that I've seen used so far. Thanks for the mention of SME.Gen. I'm not sure if it will meet my needs but I'll take a look at it. I also notice a version of DUWS for IFA3 Lite, so I'll look into that as well. Thanks again.
  3. Perhaps I'm missing something but Is there a location where the optional pbo files to hide vanilla content can be downloaded from? I downloaded the most recent AIO version from PWS and the optional files don't seem to be included with the download. Also, I'm curious to know if there are any SP campaigns (packaged in single pbo campaign format, rather than as several SP missions) or any dynamic campaigns in single mission format, that are currently available or in the works? Thanks for any information provided on these questions. As an owner and fan of the original IF, I'm quite happy to be able to play this in A3 and the IFA3 team has done an awesome job making this possible.

When I was stationed in West Germany during the mid 80s with the US Army, I made a number of trips to the training grounds at Grafenwoehr, which is only about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the Czech border but unfortunately, I never managed to get close enough to see the actual border. I did accidentally get close one time. During Reforger '86, I was driving the last vehicle in a convoy on an errand to pick up some supplies. Unbeknownst to me and my co-driver, the truck in front of us wasn't actually part of the convoy. We followed him and eventually he turned and we turned with him. After awhile and several turns later, I realized that there were no trucks in front of the truck in front of us, so I started flashing my lights until he pulled over. He informed us that he wasn't part of the convoy and tried to direct us back to where we were supposed to go but we got lost in the process of trying to get there (this was way before GPS and cellphones!). We were eventually stopped at a US military checkpoint and informed that we were only about 5 miles from the border. Fortunately the MP's gave us better directions and we managed to get to where we were supposed to go. If the MPs hadn't stopped us, we might have wound up right at the border! I wouldn't say "nobody" ever managed to cross the border though.. Unfortunately many died in the attempt but a few did manage the crossing through one method or another. Some of them were downright ingenious. http://www.apnewsarchive.com/1987/Series-of-Spectacular-Escapes-from-East-Germany-and-Czechoslovakia/id-f2192d92f05cdc5f660a3d47656bcf9d http://www.upi.com/Archives/1987/05/20/Czech-evades-border-guard-in-airborne-escape/4211548481600/ http://cestykesvobode.sdruzenipamet.cz/index.php/en/stories-en/31-pribeh-uteku-po-dratech BTW, I was a huge fan of CSLA for Arma 2 and I thought that the '89 campaign was fantastic. Will the Arma 3 version include a Cold War era campaign? Even a port of the '89 campaign would be awesome. Until the time comes, I'm waiting patiently for the new version to release. :)

I've been giving the request for mission porting suggestions to different maps some thought and rather than suggest specific maps (though I'll mention several possibilities for consideration), I'm more interesting in the type of maps that I would like to play the mission on and the enemies encountered. I can't speak for others but I'm getting very weary of playing on desert and Mediterranean maps. While the tropical maps being considered for updates would be a nice change of pace, I also wouldn't mind seeing the mission ported to some temperate maps (but not Chernarus as I'm very tired of it!) representing European or Eastern European nations that haven't been played to death. Also, a port of the mission to a South or Central American setting would be very welcome. France has a military presence (including the Legion) in French Guiana that could make for some interesting missions if a proper map to depict the region is available. I couldn't find any information on the existence of rebel or nationalist movements there but perhaps a fictional one or a real one that has expanded operations from a nearby region to that country, would suffice. For me, Jihadists are also getting a bit tiresome as an enemy. Some old-school communist, nationalist or ethnic movement guerillas would be a welcome change of pace. Some of the maps that I've been thinking would be nice for a European / Eastern European setting are: Bornholm - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27056 Panthera - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27416 Esseker - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28815 Helvantis - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27617 SFP Islands - Contains three maps: Rosö and Sturkö are Swedish themed and, Wamako is African themed. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=25143 Namalsk - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=30545 G.O.S Leskovets - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=32285 A number of tropical and semi-tropical maps could probably stand in for Central and South American locations but I believe that these have the right "flavor" for this scenario: SMD Sahrani - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27437 Lingor + Dingor - http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=29469

Cold War US Army loadout question

I'm familiar with the MLRS based systems but they aren't something that I ever spent any time around. It's also cool that you guys still have an old M110 on display. Shortly before I left Germany, my company got ahold of an old WW2 era M32 tracked recovery vehicle based on the Sherman chassis to restore. That was a pretty neat vehicle to check out. Also, when I was in AIT at APG, I spent a guard shift one evening guarding the vehicles outside of the armor museum there. I wasn't supposed to but for an armor buff like myself, I couldn't resist climbing around on all those old tanks, halftracks and SPG's. I forgot to mention that I also trained to work on the old M114 howitzer but they were being phased out already when I entered the army so I never saw one outside of AIT. Many of those old weapons have been retired now but surprisingly some of them still soldier on to this day. Unfortunately, RTS games aren't something that I was ever able to get into. I played a few but I always wanted to be in the thick of the action, so I gravitated to simulations and FPS games. As for Cold War mods, as you mentioned, there's the German Armed Forces mod coming to cover the Bundeswehr and DDR NVA, plus from your posts, I know that you're aware of the Conflict '85 CUP expansion that will cover US and Soviet forces and the upcoming CSLA mod (the A2 version was awesome) will cover Czechoslovakian and US units also. I don't know what other Cold War armies might possibly be in the works, but it would be nice to see some fully equipped UK and French units and hopefully more Warsaw Pact units too. As for Conflict '85, I hope that someone will do a replacement config to use the M16A1 from another mod, as I would like to see that for realisms sake. If you're not familiar with the CSLA mod, you can find more information at the ModDB site and in their forum thread: http://www.moddb.com/mods/csla-mod-for-arma-3 As for books, have you ready any of the Larry Bond (he collaborated with Clancy on RSR) books dealing with fictional accounts of major conflicts in the late 80's and early to mid 90's? These three are very good: https://www.amazon.com/Red-Phoenix-Larry-Bond/dp/0446514330 https://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Larry-Bond/dp/0446363049 https://www.amazon.com/Cauldron-Larry-Bond/dp/0446600261

Cold War US Army loadout question

You're welcome and thank you for your service as well. You're service in a FA unit is interesting as well as I'm very familiar with artillery systems from my time in the army. My MOS was 45L Artillery Repair, so you may be familiar with some of the systems that I worked with. I worked on the M102, M109, M110, M198 and the M163 Vulcan ADA. When I was stationed in Germany (Panzer Kaserne) there wasn't much work for my MOS, so I cross trained as a Small Arms Repairer so that I would have something to keep me occupied and off of ridiculous details, such as trash pickup and other nonsense. I was part of an Armament Platoon in a Maintenance Company, so just about every weapon (excluding missile systems and explosives) that the army used at the time, came through our shop at one time or another. That included pistols, rifles, MG's, mortars, artillery, tanks and just about everything else, so I do have a bit of knowledge on the weapon systems of the time. I'm not an expert by any means but since the period is something that interests me, I've done a lot of research on it. I also have a bit of a talent for internet research (if it's out there, I can usually find it) so if you need any assistance with anything else, then feel free to send me a private message and I'll assist if at all possible. BTW, I'm surprised (but not really!) that it has taken so long to replace the M16A2. Considering my interest in the Cold War, I hope to someday see a game (hopefully a BIS one) or a massive mod for A3 (or A4 when it's available) that will revisit the period on a massive scale with assets from all of the NATO and Warsaw Pact countries with a series of "what if?" campaigns based around the possible combatants. I'm not just talking about the Soviet Union, the US and the UK either. I want to see W Germany and Austria vs Czechoslovakia and Hungary or an invasion of W Germany by Poland and the DDR, and/or similar scenarios. For me, that would be a dream game if done properly. ***Edit*** After I responded, something occurred to me that might be very useful for inspiration and mission ideas. For anyone that has an interest in a fictionalized Cold War combat scenario in Europe in 1988, I highly recommend reading Tom Clancy's classic book, "Red Storm Rising". I read it when I was still in the army and his depiction of combat between NATO and the Warsaw Pact scared the Hell out of me. What he describes is an absolute meat grinder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Storm_Rising

Cold War US Army loadout question

First of all, welcome to the forum. I share similar interests, so let me see if I can help. I was in the US Army from March 1984 until February 1987. In that time I was aware of the M16A2 but I never saw one before my enlistment was completed. From about 1985 through about 1990 or so, the Army was in a very heavy transitional phase, replacing a number of iconic weapons, vehicles and personal gear items. I did a bit of searching on the subject of when the A2 was fully adopted and I believe that you may be okay with using the A1 model for your scenarios but it should be considered that the 193rd was probably on the cusp of receiving the new weapon sometime in 1988 or '89 (if not received already) because they had the A2 during Operation Just Cause in Panama in '89, so it still might not be appropriate. On the flip side, an element of the 5th ID out of Ft Polk still had the M16A1 when they deployed for Just Cause. However, there is always the ability to use creative license should you wish. BIS did so when they used the M16A2 for Operation Flashpoint rather than the more appropriate M16A1 for the time period depicted. When trying to ascertain when a unit received a certain piece of gear, it should be considered that not all of the Army was issued new gear at the same time. Units that were deployed overseas and Rapid Reaction Forces (Airborne, etc), usually got new equipment first. When I was in Germany, we received the new Kevlar helmets at the very end of 1985 but when I reported for duty with the 5th ID at Fort Polk in May '86, they were still using the old steel pots and we still hadn't received Kevlar helmets when I got out of the Army early the next year. The first time I ever saw an M1 Abrams was when I was in AIT at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in the Summer of '84 but if I remember correctly, the first time I saw an M1 Abrams in the field was during Reforger '86. Also, the M51A1 Mutt was being replaced by the Humvee, the M60 was being replaced by the M249 (and M240) and the M1911A1 pistol was being replaced by the M9. There were also many other pieces of gear and weapons being replaced at the time but it would take a lot of research for me to list it all here. Reference sites aren't always useful for finding out when a weapon was actually in wide scale use either. Most will tell you when a weapon was introduced or say when a weapon was replaced but they aren't always correct because such things can actually take years to be implement completely. If you really want to find out specifically when a certain weapon was received by a particular unit, you may have to find a site or a Facebook page dedicated to that unit with participation by veterans of the unit. I belong to a couple of such sites on Facebook that are relevant to when and where I served. I did find some interesting websites while researching your question. This one has some interesting information concerning when the army ordered the first significant number (100,176) of M16A2s in March 1986, followed by a larger order (266,961) in September 1988. Even those dates might not really be specific enough, when you consider how long it might take to go from order to delivery and then to issue to the troops: https://thearmsguide.com/11226/army-resisted-m16a2-part-1-3/ There isn't much at this site but if you scroll down and read #3 or look at slide #9, it lists the weapons used by the 7th ID, the 193rd BDE and the 5th ID element during Operation Just Cause. If you want to ensure that your scenarios are historically accurate, then you could always change your unit to the 5th ID (the 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment of the 5th ID was attached to the 193rd during Operation Just Cause), because they were still using the M16A1 in Panama in '89 so would have been using it in '88 as well:

Is the new version that's going up on Steam (I haven't seen it there yet) the same as the SP test version that you linked to above? Also, going by the file size, it looks like someone already added the SP test version or some other version to Steam on 2/15. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=864530612&searchtext=enhanced+movement

    Caucasus Insurgency

Along with some assistance from friends, I did some more searching and my search mojo is strong! I managed to find the images that I was looking for. Here are images of Russian Naval Infantrymen in the Argun Gorge region of Chechnya in 1994. An online translator (https://translate.google.com/) will help with reading the album labels but those images and many others can be found in some of the image albums here: http://www.morpeh.com/foto/ Also, I have a friend on FB named Mike that is in sporadic contact with a Russian veteran of the First Chechen War named Timur. My friend has posted some information that he got from Timur to a FB group dedicated to 1:6 Russian action figures. The info concerns, uniforms, gear and weapons most commonly seen in use by Russian forces in Chechnya during the first war. Timur was with the VV MVD in Chechnya from 2/95-9/96. Though not often seen in images (though they exist if you search for them), Timur said that one of the most common uniform/gear loadout that he wore and saw worn by others was the old tan colored M88 Afghanka uniform that was commonly seen during the Soviet Afghan war, paired with 6B4 body armor (with or without additional hand made pouches) and the SSh-68 helmet (or a simple bandana) along with hand made web gear or an Afghan war issued assault vest. Below is a transcript (slightly edited for clarity) of the information that was posted to our group: Initial message: "Hello Mike, sure I will help you with all questions. 99% of boots i saw there were tall soldiers boots made of "kirza". We called 'em "kirzachi". Many officers wore "kirzachi" as well because there were tons of dirt around our camps. I never saw there any leg wraps/puttees with low boots. If you was lucky you could get US boots from a dead Nokhchi. About uniform - I never saw any WWII uniforms, most of people wore "Afghanka", there were also few type of Russian camo uniforms, but their quality was not really good, "Afghanka" was way warmer. I heard a story about a guy who took and wore US woodland camo from a dead body. He was accidentally shot by a sentry who saw him in the night and thought it was a Chechen. Also enemy snipers prefer to pick targets dressed better or differ than others, because they thought they are officers or FSK/FSB or any special forces. So all newcomers tried to get "kirzachi" and "Afghanka" ASAP, even guys from Spetsnaz etc. And army logistics system worked very poor so you were on your own... It will be easier for me if you make a list of exact questions so I give you exact answers" Follow up message with more specifics: "I served in the first war, 02.1995 - 09.1996 Concerning the headgear: _ How common was the billed cap with the folded side cloth flaps? I have seen some references calling it an "Afghanka", but could not tell if that was correct. Billed caps with the folded side cloth flaps were pretty common. We wore it "visor-back" style under the steel helmet. Later we got caps with the folded side cloth flaps in camo pattern. These has slightly other design than "Afghanka". "Afghanka" was in khaki only. _ The knit cap, or "watch cap", was it issue? Were they both simple caps and some which were balaclava types? Most appear to be dark (blue or black?), but some photos show what appears to be knit in camo patterns. _ Was the ushanka popular, other than in winter? Was it general issue? First time, almost all troops had ushankas, later, some infantry troops got knit caps, some got ushankas. Black knit caps (never saw blue and saw few times Chechens green knit caps with Arabian letters) were mostly issued to troops dislocated on South regions of Russia, with warm winters and others like Siberian regiments has ushankas. There were many home-made black knit caps as well as camo. Balaclava knit caps were mostly issued to special forces, i don't remember anybody from our regiment who had balaclava. In winter, ushnka was the most popular cap, we wore it under our helmets. _ Was the "Panama" hat worn there? I saw "Panamas" few times, all of 'em were from Afghan war supplies. I served in MVD troops, we don't have any "Panamas". _ What was the most common model steel helmet worn there? Were the covers provided, or made by the troops? SSh-68, we made covers from cloak tents or old uniforms Concerning the uniform: _ Was the "Afghanka" uniform made in both temperate and cold weather versions? Was it issued in any other colors than the sort of khaki or light brown type? Yes, we had "Afghanka" uniform made in both temperate and cold weather versions. First i got USSR type 8 uniform, model of 1969. Than i got "Afghanka steklo (brown gloss)" and after it I got a "Afghanka" in camo. Also we wore shirts from USSR parade soldier uniform. _ Besides the light camouflage oversuits, were there some kind of one or two piece heavy coveralls? I have seen some pictures of troops wearing them (though rare, it seems), in a darker color. I had КЗС (http://kapterka.su/product/kzs/) in different tones - dark and light versions. All others were like "Barvikha" and "Butan" (http://kamirit.nsknet.ru/katalog/zim...polevaja-forma) ________________________________________________________ Concerning equipment: _ What type of web gear was commonly used? A sort of "belt order", or were suspenders issued/used? Were the "Smersh" type standard issue, or something more like specops gear? There were tons of different hand-made web gear, or modified by owner. I'd say "Smersh" type was more like specops gear. I didn't use it. _ Am I correct in perceiving that chest rigs were not common soldier issue? Mostly we made 'em ourselves. Some issued were from Afghan-war supplies. _ What type body armor was standard issue there? Or, were there several, perhaps transitional? 6B4, 6B5 _ Were gloves issued? Mittens? Yup, different models http://kamirit.nsknet.ru/katalog/amu...nye-trehpalye/ _ You covered the boots, were socks issued? Were the foot wraps still in use? I get the impression socks made up a part of packages from home. Yup socks were issued but of very bad quality, so most of socks we bought ourselves, got from home or took from dead chechens. They had very good wool and cotton socks, made in Germany and Norway. Some people used foot wraps with kirza boots. Concerning weapons: _ The light machine guns seems pretty well documented. Were more "acquired" when possible, for increased firepower? We had enough machine guns, so we didn't need any "acquired". PK, RPK and RPK-74. I saw Chechens used PKT and NSV machine guns took from destroyed tanks. _ The basic rifle, was there a predominance of the AK-47, or were the AKM and AK-74 being issued in greater numbers? First we got AK-74, but later we were reissued AKMs as it has way better firepower than AK-74. So the most popular or basic gun in 1994-1996 was AKM. _ Were both RPG-7s and RPG-18s carried? Was the -18 more generally issued? Would the -7s be considered more of a skilled weapon? We had RPG-18, RPG-22, RPG-26, RPG-27 and of course RPG-7. Yup RPG-18 was most popular and yes, i'd say the old good RPG-7 can be considered more of a skilled weapon. We also had RPO-A Shmel. It's a great weapon. I once saw Shmel fired to a window of a basement with 4 chechens hidden inside. Later we found inside only 6 or 7 well-done steaks mixed with parts of weapons... _ How did handguns figure into the conflict, for regular soldiers? US troops acquired quite a lot of them unauthorized, in the gulf wars. It seems like the price of being caught with one would be costly for a Russian soldier. Our officers knew that we had trophy weapons. They didn't care about it. I had PSM as last chance weapon, but many people preferred to carry an additional F1 grenade. We knew what happened if they took us alive. F1 was fast and easy way instead of tortures. But i was afraid of detonate myself with F1. I was young and i preferred to be in an open casket during funerals If you ask me how the typical soldier near me was dressed - well, - very washed out afghanka, 6B4 without titan plates with custom added pockets or hand-made chest rig, army (medical) kerchief on the head, civilian sweater sent from home and 3/4 cut kirza boots or resin boots. Many soldiers had beards or mustaches and didn't have their hair cut for 2-4 months. so sorry for the delay and please let me know if you have more questions." Timur also provided this link with lots of excellent images: https://vk.com/club79954099 For me, the information that Timur provided was an absolute treasure trove. I don't know how helpful it might be concerning the mod but I hope that it will help in some way. :) -Kenneth

I don't know how common it was but TTsKO was worn by Russian Naval Infantry during the First Chechen War. However in all of the images that I've seen, they were wearing the mountain variant (predominately brown coloration), which appears to be the same as in the image above. There was a series of photos on the old militaryphotos.net website that showed a number of them operating in the Argun Gorge region during the First Chechen War, wearing the uniform but unfortunately that website is now gone and I lost the copies of the images that I had due to a HD crash a few years ago. Now, I can't find those images anywhere online. I'm also a 1:6 action figure enthusiast and my primary area of interest is modern Russian military figures. I have a number of online friends with similar interests, so I'll ask around and see if any of them have those images archived. If so, I will post them here. Also, for information on post WW2 Russian military subjects, this website is a good source of information: http://www.red-alliance.net/forum/index.php

I like the idea of not being able to climb over a wall if too heavily loaded but if such a feature were added it would be nice to see a realistic option to drop heavy gear over the wall (packs and launchers) and then climb over the wall and retrieve the gear.

Thanks for the response and understanding. I honestly wasn't trying to sound rude or dismissive of anyone's good intentioned comments. I wasn't certain if PWS did all of the updating themselves or if mod authors had anything to do with it, such as sending notifications. It's probably just an oversight on their part. I'll send the PWS people a message soon to let them know that the mod has been updated.

Thanks for all of the information on the workshop and the default launcher but I'm very familiar with how they work and they still don't meet my needs. I'm not trying to come off as rude but please don't consider dislike of those features as ignorance. That is simply not the case. However, none of this is really relevant to the mod. I like the mod and will continue to use it but all that I was asking was if it is possible to update the mod on PWS. If the answer is "no", then I'm fine with that and will continue to download the mod from Armaholic.

Thanks but I'll pass. I occasionally use the workshop for mission downloads but other than that, I hate it and won't use it. I spend a good bit of time tinkering around in my mod folders and I hate the lack of control I have over where the workshop puts the folders and how it names them. Also, some mods aren't available from the workshop (at least initially) and I prefer to keep all of my mods in the same location (of my choosing!). I don't use the official game launcher either and I find that having all of my mods in the same location is more efficient when using a third party launcher.

    [SP] DayZero [SURVIVAL]

Mercenary11, thanks for your reply. I have to admit that I do have issues with the zombie spawn frequency and the time acceleration as I already mentioned, but other than that I'm mostly fine with the way the mission plays. I actually do enjoy a mostly hardcore gaming experience. As for the zombies, I have experienced them spawning right in front of me on a couple of occasions. As for the fuel issue, I may need to try the mission out again with fewer mods enabled. I have a default set of mods that I almost always use for SP and I'm fairly certain that the custom install (with several pbo files removed) of ACE 3 that I use, probably caused an issue with the fuel consumption. I don't see how any of the mods that I had loaded could affect the zombie spawn positions though. I'll try again without ACE loaded and see how the mission plays. In the mean time, I'll be looking forward to the next update.

    [SP] DayZero [SURVIVAL]

I gave this a try and it's pretty interesting. However the zombies constantly spawning out of the ground kind of dampened my enthusiasm. I attacked and eliminated 5 guys that had set up camp at an airfield. From attacking them and eliminating the zombies, I used up all of the ammo that I had available for my pistol and for the old bolt action rifle that I had taken from another guy. I checked all of the bodies of the uninfected guys that I had killed and all of them had empty weapons from fighting against me and the zombies. There were a couple of damaged vehicles at the airfield that were still operational but with very little fuel. I used up all of the fuel in both vehicles to run over the zombies but as soon as I did they started spawning again. Now I'm out of ammo and fuel and the airfield is overrun with zombies again, making the whole attempt at gaining weapons, ammo and a vehicle, a waste of time. I've found fuel in a few caches but it's too heavy to carry without dropping all of my gear and it's much too far from the airfield to go get it. I can't even gather up gear from the dead guys because there are so many zombies following me around. I would like to give the mission more attention but I'm not sure that I will continue unless there is a way to limit the number of zombies. I'm also not a big fan of the time acceleration because it gets dark too quickly. I've yet to find a tent or sleeping bag to skip time and running around in the dark until daylight comes again is a bit tiresome. I don't want to sound completely negative because the mission has a lot to offer and some fairly cool features but at the moment, I find it more frustrating than entertaining.

I've cleared all of the buildings in the area within the red circle on the map and I've swept the area several times but enemies keep coming in from areas outside the designated area. I've been venturing into the surrounding villages trying to thin out the number of enemies in the area but the resistance is stiff and new enemies keep appearing in the designated area. It's gotten to the point that I'm considering going back to HQ and coming back with armor and a lot of explosives to try and level the area, consequences be damned! Perhaps this task could be considered completed if the enemies in the designated area are below a certain number or outside of a smaller radius? I also have another question concerning time acceleration. I placed the mission in my single player missions folder because I would rather play using regular SP than play a SP LAN session using the mission in the MP missions folder. I do this because I occasionally like to use the player initiated time acceleration to speed things along when traveling by foot or when the AI is being too slow in completing tasks that they've been given. The game plays and saves fine when the mission is in the SP folder but the option to change the SetTimeMultiplier to "1" or any other value doesn't work because apparently the "initServer.sqf" isn't initialized when playing a regular SP mission. I looked through several of the other sqf files in the mission folder but I can't find an option anywhere else to change the multiplier. Is it even possible to change the multiplier any other way? I also have one other suggestion to make concerning ambience. The HQ could use a little life. Would you consider adding some AI characters wandering around inside HQ and possibly manning the checkpoints just to give the appearance that the base is manned and operational? Attendants at the jail, the medical area and some of the other facility locations would add a good bit of atmosphere.

Thanks Gemini. I didn't realize that there were sleeping bags and tents in the armory. While resting in the field, do events continue to happen around us? I wouldn't want to get killed while asleep. As for the HQ markers, the labels sometimes don't show up even when I zoom in. I suppose it could be related to some other mod that I have loaded but as I mentioned before, it's easy enough to add my own markers to the map so it's not a big problem. As for the weapons caches, I didn't realize that they had to be destroyed to get credit for them. I suppose that I could remove any gear that I might want to use and then destroy the cache. I'll also have to take a closer look at what items the AI civilians are carrying. Mostly I've only looked to see if they were carrying weapons but I hadn't paid any attention to see if they had personal military gear such as radios and compasses. Thanks for the info.

It's a fairly old bug that I occasionally encountered in A2 as well. I did a quick search but since the search function for the forum doesn't work properly at the moment, I had to resort to Google. Even if the search function worked properly, it would still be difficult to find information in the forum because you can't search for short terms such as "AI". Below are a number of links to discussions where the problem is mentioned. Some say it's mostly a problem when using mods and that may be true because I almost always play with some mods enabled. I've mostly encountered the problem with snipers and machine gunners but it can happen with all of them. I don't recall if I've ever experienced the problem in vanilla though. http://steamcommunity.com/app/107410/discussions/5/864974467643609246/ https://steamcommunity.com/app/107410/discussions/4/810938082489488399/

@Gemeni, thanks for your comments and answers on bugs and suggestions! Below are my thoughts and input on some of the subjects. ACE_morphine error The ACE_morphine error only popped up near a fairly large town to the NE (I don't recall the name) and it only happened once. I'm still using ACE but it's a custom install that I use with many modules, including ACE medical, removed. It's possible that it's related to the removal of ACE medical but I use the same custom install in other missions and campaigns and I've never encountered the same error before. Mission compression I understand the convenience of pbo versions and it's not particularly hard to de-pbo a mission but I really do appreciate the option of downloading either version. Missing NVGs Could this be related to the fact that I'm using ACE but with the NVG module removed? I checked my inventory very carefully and couldn't find any NVGs. Rest Thank you for adding a rest duration option. That will be very useful! Also, while fraught with danger, an option to rest while in the field would also be a welcome option. Porting to other nationalities I perfectly understand your decision on this. However, I'm thankful that you've made the mission easily customizable. I'm no mission maker and though I'm familiar (vaguely) with factions and classnames, I really wouldn't know where to begin but it's nice to have the option. Hopefully others with more time and knowledge on the subject will take a shot at it. Combat support I haven't requested any support yet while on a mission but it's great to know that it could possibly be available depending on the number of enemies encountered. AI transportation That would be a sweet option! My drivers usually damage the wheels on their vehicles before they can ever get out of the base, requiring me to get them repaired. I've even went so far as to go back to the motor pool and bring a vehicle out just to scavenge the wheels off of it to repair the ones that the AI has damaged. A map related bug report I don't know if it has anything to do with the mission or if it's just an A3 bug but sometimes when I'm in the base, the labels for all of the facilities inside the base sometimes don't show up on the map. I've mostly remembered the layout but sometimes I forget where certain things are. Fortunately, I can add my own map markers as a workaround. What do I do with weapons caches and individuals or items captured in the field? I may have missed some information in the documentation but here are some other thoughts and questions. While on the patrol mission, I stopped in a village that we were passing by because we received enemy fire from it. While sweeping the village I came across a weapons cache next to a vehicle with an unarmed civilian standing by it. I loaded the cache into one of my vehicles and destroyed the truck found next to the cache. Will I be penalized for destroying the truck? The civilian was unarmed and had nothing of incriminating on his person but under questioning he told me that I was "bad" and should leave. Considering his presence by the cache and his unwillingness to cooperate, I arrested him (was that reasonable?) and transported him and the weapons cache back to base. I had to save and quit at that point but I'm wondering what to do with the prisoner and the weapons cache. I'm guessing that I take the prisoner to the jail but what do I do with the weapons cache? Also, is there any benefit to collecting enemy weapons captured in the field? I know that I would then have them available for personal use in later operations but are there any bonuses for collecting weapons and somehow turning them in? If not, that would be a cool feature. @HeroesandvillainsOS, AI units switching to their pistols when they should be using their rifles is an old Arma bug that has existed since Arma 2. It might not have anything to do with them having the wrong ammo. I get around this frustrating AI behaviour by checking their inventory and removing their pistols or putting them in their backpacks if they have them.
