Arma 2 1.06 Patch Suggestions

It's the animation with pistol while gearing around! =D

Keep pistol holster like this while finger of trigger when using pistols, like as riffle ctrl (x2) ! <3 looks cool

i hop if they will add more animation for woman like captive woman and a mod that woman can drive most of the vehicles and hold weapons

:)I'd like to see engine keys for aircraft, ie...idles at 1, and can throttle up to say 5 for full afterburner for take off.

Not trying to be a smart ass but...Come out with Patch 1.06 :). (It has been FOREVER since a new patch, and quite frankly I'm getting quite frustrated with the great ammount of bugs still in the game).

They're putting out beta patches at an alarming (read: awesome) rate, so I'm guessing a final patch is not too far off.

By the way, since I know you were having the "v-buffer creation" error...did the betas fix that for you? I still have Threaded Optimization turned off, but in the latest beta I haven't gotten a single crash due to that error.

I turned that off as well. Between that and the new betas I've been nearly crash-free :yay:

Good to hear! I still get the crashes fairly often in 1.05 even with Threaded Optimization off, but having it off does delay the crashes at least.

I'm just hoping a final patch comes out soon with the beta fixes so I can play longer on my favorite server. :D

1. Being able to move in the map view. Currently when switching your character stops moving. You could move in ofp and it actually made it easier to cross country fast by moving in the map view especially if you sped up time and didn't have to deal with an fps issue. So could this be fixed?

No, you can't really navigate with your head deep into a map. If you want to see the map while moving bring up the GPS.

2. Having The campaigns being compatible with A.C.E. would be good. Especially if you can get to manage rucks and extra weapons in the briefing. I don't think you can change weapons in the briefing screen which is a shame

ACE keeps changing and adding stuff so BIS would have to constantly update the campaign, not really fair eh?

Does that mean we're no longer allowed to use i.e. aimpoints and iron sights while using NVGs? I sure hope that is the case, but please bring up the ambient (star) light at night so that non NVG users are able to (barely) see where they are going. They won't be very combat effective, but your eyes are able to adjust to a remarkable low level of light and be able to pick up "where to walk". Pluss to make up slightly for other senses we don't have ingame. Like trying to walk into a tree - I would know :) Not like a full moon naturally, far from it, just some weak shades.

Not sure this is within the scope of Arma2 ( minus the OA), but if there is a weight or bias applied to the AI's decision making, could it be toward the purpose of the highest priority future waypoint?

Example: A squad has a mission consisting of a move, load, unload, search and destroy, ending with a load to exfil. In my thoughts S&D has the highest priority, so before that point AI would conserve ammo and attempt to disengage from any contacts (modified by combat/stealth setting?). At the S&D point they would lose all restraint, upon completion the next highest priority is Load, where they would again try to break contact to arrive and protect the LZ.

I'm sure you can follow the logic. Basically something that Hamm said on another thread about the AI lacking theme or overall mission purpose. To complete the idea, if there are no priority waypoints, there is no reason to conserve ammo or effort in defeating contacts, allowing for a proper patrol.

Just some thoughts :)

If you kill a man inside a MG nest, his body should

STAY inside the MG nest

Not appear outside and then fall over dead.

Its a small issue but its a total WTF immersion Killer.

My suggestions:

1: Enable players to have a map on a possible secundary screen

2: Create a new chat channel, meant for conversations in the near perrimiter. It's the same idea as the "Vehicle Chat". For example conversations can be heard by anyone in a 20 meter radius from the player, so people have to be carefull when enemies are around.

3: Trees are very, very heavy on the computer. Maybe performance tweaks can be made.

4: Like flash Thunder said, make soldiers die inside the MG nest, instead of appearing outside.

Just played some specop SP mission, and I found breaking off / escape from overwhelming enemy simply impossible, because AI teammates prioritize moving in cover (even with "hold fire"), ignoring "stay in formation" or "go to" orders. So they move slowly, enemy is catching up, team gets killed.

New order switching AI's priority betwen covering and moving, would be very useful,

Inherit CfgMarkers, CfgVehicles, CfgWeapons, CfgAmmo, CfgMagazines from missionconfigfile to allow the mission to bring tiny addon content.

e.g. a mission maker wants to use a symbol on his map, which is not present in arma2. Would it make sense to release a 1 KB Addon then?

Umm pls fix the blackscreen bug related to NVidia GPU. And no my GPU isn't failing as I only have this problem with ArmA 2. Luckily it doesn't happen that very often but still this is critical issue. I'm only concerned with this.

btw ArmA 2 is GREAT. Don't regret every penny spent on it. Great job BI.:)

What "black screen" bug are you referring to? I have never encountered it and I'm also using a nVidia card (GTX 280). That's leading me to believe it's an error of the user, not the game, whether or not you claim it is. Post some specs, settings, and even a screenshot of what you're getting so that we have some idea of what you're talking about.

That's leading me to believe it's an error of the user, not the game, whether or not you claim it is. Post some specs, settings, and even a screenshot of what you're getting so that we have some idea of what you're talking about.

I haven't seen it today while playing for hours and hours though.

Please make the AI not afraid of bridges!

Sorry, I know this has probably been mentioned in this and other threads but ive been playing warfare on sahrani and basically the game breaks when AI cannot move to next objective because they dont know how to cross a bridge!!?

Shouldnt that be a priority? seems so dumb, or is it the map makers issue?
