Alwarren 2767 Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) For some reason OFP campain was, i dunno, it kinda drew me in,you know? I think the reason why the original OFP campaign was that good is because it was easy to identify with David Armstrong. He was an average guy in military service, just finished his basic training, and gets thrown into a war. He feels and behaves like most of us would, disoriented, overwhelmed by what is happening, horrified by seeing his friends around him die... It made the whole campaign a very personal thing (at least for me), and managed to pull me in completely. EDIT: Should have read the rest of the thread first :D Edited June 24, 2010 by Alwarren
11aTony 0 Posted June 24, 2010 Further more, voice acting and cutscenes ware amazing. Voice in ArmA series... well lets just say not so good.
SteveJA 12 Posted June 24, 2010 It definitely had something about it didnt it. I think another one of the reasons is how (back in the day) it looked so nice and tranquil, a nice place to wage war. If you dont understand me, think back to fry cry 1, i think the only reason i liked it so much was it was a beautiful area, dont get me wrong graphics certianly isn't everything but done in the right fashon and with good map design, you can create a living world (ish). The problem i think is is with A2 map Cherno-cannot spell-rus is, as beautiful as it looks there are some annoying things that constantly bug me ie, never wanting to go prone because of the grass, and sunny days dont feel like sunny days, whereas in OFP it was like "what a lovely day". i dont know, i might of writen a bunch of shit, in my attempt to explain what i mean but NEVER MIND :p Alternately it might have been those shit scary BMPs you could hear from about a mile away, making you search the area frantically for a LAW/RPG lol

That guy 10 Posted June 24, 2010 For some reason my computer hates .png type pictured. it will load them a little bit then just cross its arms and say " nah ah, im done" results in me having to hit refresh like 10 times just to see one MFing pic. and even then it probably wont load all the way
jonneymendoza 10 Posted June 24, 2010 Whats your favourite weapons lads? mine has to be the M4 carbine or the classical M16 with the 3 round burst. the M16 for me is great for long range while th M4 carbine is great for CQC.

I know, why was it bmps i was scared of though? tanks didnt bother me as much as the bmps lol. weird hey, i think its because they always timed it so they came at yaou when you had no AT  Anyways back to OA, With the addition of camera shake i wonder if launching a AT weapon will feel like you are firing a large projectile from your sholder, or if we keep the "Ive failed holding a fart" feeling :D

maddogx 13 Posted June 24, 2010 Cant modders make such a diverse and engaging campaign mode? In theory anyone can. It just takes huge amounts of work, lots of testing and some excellent voice actors. ;) Also, is OA's main campaign mode coop via online? Yes, that's been confirmed. bad benson 1733 Posted June 24, 2010 did anyone else notice that there is some cgtextures stuff used on the Takistan map (see groundtexture). my first guess is that Opteryx is involved cuz he used alot from this site. but maybe not...just a guess.
nodunit 397 Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) Cfgtextures? can you shed some light on that? Looks like the map has vast area's of 'unpopulated' terrain, Chernarus was great but you didn't have to go far to find a road, one of the things I liked about one of the OFP islands (can't remember which) was it's lack of built area's.. And damn I am just in love with the lighting of OA..it's dull by comparison and yet feels far more real than most goes I've seen.. I guess is because it's not all high contrast and fancy bright..much less CGI, colors feel a bit richer too which is amazing because deserts in most games I've played and seen recently look so bland and brownish. bad benson 1733 Posted June 24, 2010 nice to know he stays true to his views...;) http://cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=12979&PHPSESSID=7472e71e3e4763e5678267e5428f1429 look at the texture on the right. seems simular to the desert textures on the screens. brightened of course. it's not so important though. just was intrested if Opx is involved. That got me excited again after some answers in the BIS FAQ. Liked to see a picture of flashlights(never saw before), battle sights (don´t even knew it was in) and manual FCS (may not be real, but make battles more fun). ________ In other hand, all those reviewers (thanks for all who translated them) complain about the game beign too hard, walk to much, "# Not for less patient players".......c´mon..... :raisebrow: Edited June 24, 2010 by Smurf
