Yes the landscape is simply breathtaking (also viewdistance).. the mix of autumn colors with those pine trees are just lovely. Can't wait to see it on my monitor:)

Looks excellent! Nice to hear about the lake, and glad the guy is holding the M16GL properly.

But...

I hope there's a solution to hiding in grass at a distance, seeing as it's tall and stops as a short distance. Apart from that, it looks great, at least in the highly detailed close-range we're being shown.

Holy Frogfoot, that's some good looking pictures indeed.

It would be mindblowing if you implemented a "parallax effect" for the aircraft's crosshair (or HUD), for those who use 6DOF TrackIR, as that old white "dot" would no longer be needed. It would really take the immersion factor when flying even further.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.  The vehicles, infantry, terrain and effects are all looking great (the smoketrail source IS curious though, the trail itself is muy sexy, smooth and blended particles).  Can see the effort still being put into this.  Thanks BIS!

In the pic with the SU-25s it is directly under the SU-25 flying next to the one that the picture is taken from.

To the grass isssue, i agree!

However im already pleased that the distant textures are not so much blurred/stretched-looking anymore, like they did in the older screenshots.

However, i hope the one smoketrail is not from the AT4/M136  crazy_o.gif

no. if you look closely youll notice the angle of the trail is a lot steeper than the hill theyre standing on. probably a helicopter/plane rocket. biggrin_o.gif

I mean't to comment on that too. I actually think that in the picture with the smoke trail, the AT4 guy is somewhere down by those two guys with what I think are SAWs. If you look at tree positions and stuff it seems like that is the way it is.

Saving the best for last, I guess. Up to this point there was never any screens or videos featuring the Russian armed forces or NAPA. Maybe the official trailer had some russians but I think they look more like CDF. NAPA is still a mystery

Disposable AT4s would be nice too. After all, its not an RPG, but more like a recoilless rifle.

Edit: Someone needs to tell BI that rocket RPGs hardly creates smoke trails either smile_o.gif

I am sure they know... and probably a ton more facts.   But smoke trails look cool and dramatise the game umm...I wonder if they can add a Manga option...lol... .Explosion

Don't you watch movies.. none of it is real (sorry to say even documentries) but they look good

Are any Dev's using 2500x1600?

The FOV changes in patches cause extreme differences for me, compared to my 19" Samsung Lcd @1280X1024.

I'm looking forward to seeing ArmAII released.

I think BIS could sidestep the entire issue with reloadable at4s if they just gave them some SMAWs.

I totally get the same thing.

-Hey in some of those videos, those RPG's/M136's sound almost identical to Arma, is that how they really sound? The explosions too sounded almost the same, but I really didn't pay that much attention to that as much as the launchers firing sounds.

Yup - very nice screenies again! I just love that fooliage, the trees, the whole thingy! Since flora and fauna from Czech Republic does not differ much from Germany's, i feel like being at home. Folks at BIS have managed to transport that look & feel from OFP over to ArmAII, with improved post-processing and shading - ArmA was just a slip i hope, regarding visuals and mechanics.  In 2001 i have just left the Bundeswehr and always got those feelings of being back in the Balkans, when playing OFP. Those feelings have returned, at least because of the visuals. Now mechanics need to be perfectly done as well, to get this baby rolling out like OFP once did.

Anyhow, Codies remain in the dark with mechanics and stuff, and you as well. I mean stepping over fences, like shown in the first HD trailer, is a damn feature that we waited for since when? 2002? It would be nice to see more of this during the next few weeks 'til May wink_o.gif

@Lakes: Would be awesome to tell what is sea and what is lake. Since OFP, the tides are the same, whether it was sea or lake or river. Also, wave algorithms didn't differ, seem always to be just a sum of sines and cosines without coincidence. In ArmA the loop in waves is clearly visible on stormy days, as i've noticed. I would like to see more water from ArmA II. Dream: Gerstner waves near the shorelines for vectored waves plus FFT based decompositions for deep water rendering - at least as lookup for the latter. It's hard, i know. For rivers, one could increase movement of normal textures (uv-anim), that visualizes the capillary waves, to simulate fast movement of water. I'm curious about how water visualization has improved from OFP over ArmA to ArmA II, because the topic is also very interesting.
