GalComT 511 Posted October 16, 2017 It is time to make this Project "official", Global-Mobilization (GM) is a a joint venture of the former "GAF" Team (Maverick and Myself) and MBG (Mondkalb). The goal is to deliver a highly detailed environment for cold war combat in central Europe. This includes Aerial Vehicles, Characters, Ground Vehicles, Objects, Weapons and Terrains. GM is by no means intended to be a German Army Addon only, but will focus on the various nations that would have been involved in a 1980s conflict in central Europe. Due to its location in the center of Europe and the "would have been" front line of such a conflict, Germany, both east and west will form the Core of GM. mondkalb 1087 Posted October 16, 2017 As stated above, I have joined the GAF team to initially help out with terrain work, but then I started filling other roles as well. First I dipped into character art creating West German equipment. Regular summer outfits, autumn jackets and then full winter attire. The various worn equipment went along with that. Since the scope of our project was to create both east and West Germany, the NVA troops soon followed. With a short detour into making a P1 handgun I then returned to my origins: Terrain making. A big 20x20km map covering the Inner German Border in all its detail. My requirements are to create everything myself and not to use any Arma assets. Only the vegetation are Arma2 models that I have heavily modified to fit the terrain, all the other objects, items, houses and suchs have been newly built. They are prepared for partial destruction and will have ruin models, too. A great deal of research work went into this, with the goal of recreating the Inner German Border in the highest accuracy possible. To do so, I am accessing various historic sources including original maps printed in East Germany that were classified at the time. Currently I am working on the terrain, creating detailed crew animations for every interaction. Oh also I am currently working on the most iconic East German vehicle there is... Like I stated in the UNSUNG discord, pretty hyped about the Leopard 1's because if I remember correctly Australia bought a load of them to replace our Centurion. scimitar 221 Posted October 17, 2017 Very nice. I'm really looking forward to the mod and hoping that a Marder IFV will be added to that vehicle lineup. It's really good to see so much Cold War goodness in the works for Arma 3. If all of the CW mods in the works come to fruition and are popular, then hopefully BIS will take a step back in time to their roots in a future version of Arma. When then switched over the M1A1 Abrams in 2006 and now we just have a massive stockpile of the Leopards that no one wants to buy because they want Leopard 2's :D So much love, I can't wait <3 Off topic but we managed to offload most of the of AS1s (We had 90 in total plus some recovery and bridge laying chassis) sans engine, electronics and breach welded shut to a few RSLs setting up monuments, RAAF and Army bases as gate monuments and a couple of vehicle museums. Supposedly this year they're clawing for funding so they can overhaul the M1A1 AIM up to what would be the equivalent of the US M1A2 SEP 3 and arguing over getting DU plates which were ommited from the M1s we bought.
