Terrain builder Makes Terrain Flat with Asc and Xyz
D3F3CT3D posted a topic in ARMA 3 - TERRAIN - (BUILDER)
fixed it by creating a new map frame a few times and changing the height map. So far this is occurring on windows 10 64 bit. I did a fresh install of everything for Arma 3 Tools and Verified Cache through Steam which Validated 3 Files, Also used futuraToP to extract the game Data to make buldozer work for the updated scripts/road tool. I set Terrain builder to compatibility mode for windows 7 as Administrator checked. (It was working fine on windows 7 before , since I upgraded to win.10 I ran into problems with terrain builder being slow and unresponsive while loading up maps and closing dialog boxes etc.) ... Using L3DT to export terrain as 2048x2048 Asc or Xyz Format ( I prefer ASC which works best usually.) In Buldozer view The terrain is flat. In Terrain Builder Window, it's Flat without Colored Height Lines/Contours you would normally see on a working import ( Red,Orange Etc.) > I Tested to see if a BMP Works normally, and surprisingly it does work like Asc should be doing Like this BMP Import. Here's a picture of what It looks like when i import the terrain as Asc/Xyz. No Contours or lines for Elevation like Above. + Terrain is Flat with blocky water textures interrupting the "Smooth" coastline. And this is The result in Buldozer. Note: hovering your cursor over links usually displays it's address in bottom-left corner of your web browser. Links below are to either official program websites, forums or GitHub. Hi friends, I've been using Windows Firewall Control to extend control over default Windows 10 Firewall for quite a while. Despite some mixed comments on various forums since Malwarebytes acquired it, I've had positive experience with it. You can block it's own access, no problem and it was never doing anything on its own. However, Windows 10 update 20H2 introduced a nasty bug that randomly reboots your PC even when a 3D application is running, so instead of downgrading I decided to try and upgrade to build 21H1. This in turn unfortunately broke WFC. I was unable to edit or delete any rules after 21H1 update. Therefore, instead of jumping through bunch of hoops again in order to downgrade back to 1909, I decided to explore and try to find another program that would suit my needs, which were: For program to see all existing rules set in Windows 10 Firewall, including ones that Windows Update and MS Store create. Ability to edit and delete all those rules. Ability to stop programs and applications from changing existing rules and/or creating their own rules. I was NOT looking for a defense suit, only to augment existing Windows Defender Firewall since it cannot do some of the things above. I tried bunch of programs from various "Our mega, ultra, super-duper Top X" lists and results varied from utter WTF is this, just why? to, hmm... not really what I'm looking for. Moreover, most of the programs I tried were trying to ping home more then Windows 10 itself. Finally though, I found pretty much exactly what I was looking for and then some even. On Wilders Security Forums, a character called David is running this Private Win10 open-source project on GitHub. Even the icon is funny little pun. Setup executable lets you either extract a portable version or do a full installation. In addition to it basically being an extension of Windows 10 Firewall, it also provides a GUI for various registry tweaks such as disabling Cortana or managing telemetry (logging and transmission) and it restores those tweaks if Windows overrides them. It can also monitor connections and is able to create rules on the fly for those connections. Naturally, you also have some options like disabling or undoing unauthorized rules and choosing either blacklisting or whitelisting filtering. Which is great because obviously, this whole things was about blocking everything, allowing something rather then the other way around, which is Windows default btw. All in all, this is a great little tool to add to your arsenal. Coupled with StevenBlack's static blacklisting through hosts you can have pretty good system wide, vanilla privacy and ad blocking solution with expected level of defense, all with relatively minor maintenance and ease of use. You can use Unified-Hosts-AutoUpdate BITS/PowerShell based script to easily update the hosts file and adjust it to your needs through ignore and custom text files. For web browser based solutions, see this thread Dark Browser Themes - Stop Burning Your Eyes right here on BIF. Anyway, that's all for today, if you have found any other gems, please share them and remember, your best safety is your trigger finger - don't click shit and you won't get shit.

Hello, it's a few days ago when I decided to try again DayZ mod on Arma 2 but now I have a little problem here. I join server, play maybe 10-60 minutes normally and suddenly the game stop responding or (more common case) freeze but only visual. I can hear the audio and if I press ESC (in working state it opens disconnect menu) I can see my mouse cursor moving but that's all. I can't see the disconnect menu. I noticed that before this freeze the GPU usage was 100% and then immediately 0% and during the freeze Arma uses 0% GPU. So I need to "end task" in task mngr and start Arma again. As I mentioned this happens very often. I can play an hour without any problem or I can't play even 20 minutes without crash. I also need to mention that I have installed totally clean Windows 11 and installed new Arma 2 there but it hasn't helped me. Now I have Windows 10 (v.21H2) Nvidia graphic card with newest driver and Intel CPU I have 32GB of RAM so RAM isn't the problem. Thanks for any idea how to fix this.

Cannot type Korean in game after windows 10 redstone 3 update(1709)
eststar posted a topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Recently I updated windows 10 redstone 3 update (1709) and then I can not type the Korean language in game. I know Arma 3 support the Korean language in game, and also can chat with this language. I thinks this is maybe the problem of redstone 3 version , but can be the problem of arma 3. How can I solve? Just roll back? -
Arma 3 frametime spikes/ stuttering after Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
Wooohah posted a topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Having an extremely strange problem here that I can't seem to find anything about anywhere. Been on Windows 10 build 1607 for the past 8 months after rolling back from the original creators update (audio issue), had updates disabled but Windows 10 ended up pushing the Update assistant that forced me onto 1709 (Fall Creators Update). Still had the audio issue, so I did a fresh install of the Operating system to the Fall Creators Update (1709), installed latest chipset, etc drivers from motherboard website and Nvidia driver 388.31. Tested out my games, Battlefield 4, Rainbow Six Siege and Rocket League seemed to be performing fine, may have noticed some more FPS drops in Battlefield 4, but I've honestly never really played that game on this computer. Battlefield 1 performed absolutely atrociously (but we're not here to talk about that). Tried out the regular Exile mod server that I play on (AWG Winter Altis). At first I noticed that the performance seemed to be just slightly lower than before. But after playing for a while, I noticed there was always constant frametime stuttering. There would be small spikes in the frametime that would occur every second. This made even a constant 60 FPS look like 20-30 FPS. Ex: http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Arma 3 frametime stuttering 2_zpsbll0u7gg.png.html?o=0 Tried out a different Exile server (Infinity Exile) (and here's where it gets strange), I also got a frametime stuttering issue there, but it was different and a lot worse. Only here, the frametime would be constant, then it would experience a huge spike every 30-45 seconds. Basically, buttery smooth, then a small freeze/ hitch every 30-45 seconds. Ex: (Infinity on Chernarus and Lythium) http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Arma 3 frametime spikes infinity_zpsokjwd1bx.png.html?sort=3&o=2 I got similar results on another server (Premium Exile). Ex: http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Framerate Chernarus_zpsn7vvefsi.png.html?sort=3&o=1 Then, as you can see here, here is the FPS for Chernarus, even if the Frame rate is fine, there is still frametime spiking. http://s86.photobucket.com/user/Wooohah/media/Frametime Chernarus_zps7snsmfzx.png.html?sort=3&o=0 Then a 4th server a low population DayZ server had slightly less issues, but still experienced frametime spikes here and there. I have 1400 hours logged on Arma 3 (1300 of that being Exile) in the past 6 months. Game definitely should not be doing that, all of those servers are servers that I have played on before (two of which I have about 800 hours combined on). It seems like these issues came after the Creators Update. Things I've tried: Disabling GameDVR/ Fullscreen optimization, disabling game mode, tried 378.78 Nvidia drivers and 388.31, tried with and without Gsync/ Vsync, tried stock launch parameters as well as enabling nologs and hyperthreading. Tried drivers without Geforce Experience installed. Tried closing MSI afterburner (I only use it for monitoring and fan curve) Strangely enough, I have a Lenovo Y520 Laptop that I use for school (seriously I've gamed for maybe 30 minutes on it in total since buying it in September), and servers seem to have terrible frametime spiking issues as well. That Lenovo laptop has completely different hardware and even drivers than my desktop, so I'm confused as to why its happening on two computers but I haven't heard much about it on forums, etc. Specs of my Desktop: (No OC, temperatures are fine) (Everything is at Max performance) -i7 6700k -EVGA GTX 1080 FTW -16GB Gskill TridentZ -ASUS Z170 Pro -Samsung 850 Evo SSD (OS) -Mushkin 240GB SSD (Arma 3 install) -ASUS PG279Q (1440P 144hz Gsync) -Windows 10 Pro, Ver 1709 latest updates. (Currently on Nvidia 378.78) (Tried 388.31 too) Specs of my Laptop: (No OC, temperatures are fine) -i5 7300HQ -GTX 1050ti -8GB DDR4 -128GB m.2 SSD (OS) -1TB HDD (Arma 3 install) (I'd love to run A3 on my m.2, but I don't know how to keep mods on my HDD while doing that). Would really appreciate any help anyone can provide! Going to give it a shot to try and fix this issue before just going back to 1607, since I know Windows is going to likely force me again, and I'll have to deal with it eventually.-

Windows 10 Creators Update - FSM Compile Problem
genesis92x posted a topic in ARMA 3 - BI TOOLS - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hey all - just thought I would give a heads up and/or see if anyone has any known solutions. Since I was foolish and updated my Windows PC to the windows 10 creators update I have been having weird issues with the newest, and older, versions of the FSM editor. After updating my machine the FSM Editor refused to open up any .FSM file stating, "Cannot open! File not found." After reinstalling ArmA 3 tools, I would get this error when attempting to compile my FSM's https://imgur.com/a/UUjMJ After setting the compiler, and the FSMEditor to Windows 7 Compatibility, and to run as administrator the application would again load FSM's. However, now I am getting a new interesting error. Any FSM's will fail to compile multiple times. "FSMCompiler.exe has stopped working." is the error that pops up. Funny thing is, when I save multiple times in a row (sometimes 30+ times) it will eventually be successful and update correctly in the mission. This issues happens regardless of the complexity of the FSM. However, I noticed that smaller FSM's will have a higher chance of compiling. I am not sure if this is a specific issue to my machine or not, but it started happening directly after several windows updates today. Things I have tried to fix this problem: -Clearing out \AppData\Local\Bohemia_Interactive\ folder. -Reinstalling ArmA 3 Tools (Multiple restarts as well) -Running program as administrator/windows 7 compatibility -Disabling Windows Defender and Malware bytes -Verifying integrity of game cache for ArmA 3 Tools -Trying to run an older version of the FSM editor -I am using the scriptedFSM.cfg compiler Here is a link to a video showcasing the problem...You can see that it successfully saves twice in the video (When the cmd box pops up for a split second and disappears). This FSM in the video produces 0 errors and 2 warning (Multiple INPUTS to a single condition).- 1 reply

@Tom_48_97 ☠ @pettka Can we please get a native W10 compatible version finally. Without it TB freezes the PC in most cases for several minutes or more upon launch and during use! This can easily lead to loss of progress in TB, or other data loss if you have to hard reset the PC, besides being very frustrating and very beginner unfriendly! See: The workaround to set the TB.exe to Win 7 compatibility mode is not an acceptable alternative. Tom you have done good work to improve the tool situation at least somewhat. Please give TB finally the attention it deserves! If you are unable, or unwilling to update TB, then please consider to release the source of TB, to the extent possible, or the format description (tv4p, tv4l, tv4s, v4d, v4w, vdat) to allow the community to write the own replacement tools like its done for almost all other tools already. Thanks for your attention.

Arma 3 just and simply doesn't launch since OS update to win 10...
Rydygier posted a topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
...no matter, official launcher or Arma3Sync. The first gives opportunity to report the issue of Feedback Tracker with some attachements so here is: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T119234 The latter fails silently. No mods. No such problems till OS update. Anyone else experienced such thing? Found a solution/reason perhaps?- 4 replies

Failed to initialize BattlEye Service: Driver Load Error (577)
jimmytheboarhunter posted a topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just a quick post for anyone who encounters the "Failed to initialize BattlEye Service: Driver Load Error (577)". I got this error this afternoon after updating to the latest slow ring Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14271. Battleye fails to launch and no amount of tweaking will fix it. I rolled back to build 14267 to fix the issue. Hopefully this helps anyone else trying to work out why Arma suddenly doesn't launch!- 1 reply

Hello, I have noticed Arma 2/OA ALT-TABBING slowly/with a delay and black screen in the process ever since i switched from Windows 7 to 10. A2/OA would ALWAYS alt-tab instantly while my PC was on Win7 and ever since switching to 10 these problems have started, this bothers me a lot as i like to be able to switch between things quickly. :( I have talked to a friend running Win10 and he is able to confirm A2 + some other games that he used to be able to alt-tab in/out of instantly on 7 being slow and delayed on Win10. I presume this is a microsoft issue, and it seems like there are some other people also experiencing similar issues with several games. Feel free to post in this steam discussion: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/541907867752526246/ I guess it's windowed mode for the time being, anyone else noticed this problem since switching to Windows 10?
