    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Isn't that the AK-107 from ArmA2? It somehow reminds me of that model, and the uploader credited BIS. It's not like a GTA player is going to know the difference, anyway. Funny that the comments seem to acknowledge that it's a port. :) I guess you're gotta expect that from a game called Grand Theft Auto... I wonder if it ever occurred to them to, you know, ask for permission?
  2. If you need testing or help with FM tuning, give me a shout. Haven't flown the planes you're making in any sim yet, but I did clock a few hours on Viper and Superbug. I've been short on time lately, though there's a chance I'll get done with what I'm doing before you're done with the planes. :)
  3. Yeah, unless using a rigid tow bar, having a driver is mandatory. I think that the autobrake on everyone disembarking is a good approximation for setting a handbrake before dismounting (IRL, you don't really think much about it). I never had problems with the autobrakes, but then I use an analog throttle pedal.
  4. How about using the "combat pace" button as the special "toggle speed limiter" or something like this? With KB+M, it could function as a very low limiter for precise movement with infantry (the speed could be normalized across vehicles to make things even easier), and with an analog controller, it could lock the vehicle in the first gear, allowing finer speed control. Essentially combat pace for vehicles.

    2035: Russian Armed Forces (5.3.0)

Actually, the helo in the pics is the production version of Ka-52. The old BIS model seems to have been based on a prototype. That said, the two extra hardpoints seem to actually be quite insubstantial. It seems that the only thing they can carry (at least according to a graphic in Wikipedia) is a dual Igla launcher. Useful, yes, but not terribly vital.

Nice. Though you might want to adjust maximum speed on MiG-29 page. It says 1.3km/h... I can walk faster than that, and I'm not particularly fit. :)

    Vehicle Interiors - Feedback

That's because they're Russian-made. That's the general rule for equipment hand-me-downs. It's easy (though not as easy as with a PC) to reconfigure a modern MFD, but translating physical labels on an instrument panel isn't something that most militaries bother with (unless it's a specific version built for export to a particular country). CSAT pilots will just have to learn a bit of Russian. :)
  8. What would be the performance impact of removing LODs completely? So that first of second most detailed LOD is visible regardless of distance?

    Vehicle Interiors - Feedback

It's not a matter of being "hardcore", just simple ergonomics. Same reason as to why cars usually have the dials right above the steering wheel. Here it's doubly important, because not everyone has TrackIR, so looking down and to the side is a bit more involved than IRL. Remember, these things have to be, at least in principle, able to be safely driven in normal traffic.

Besides the above points, my main complaint is the MFD positioning in both Marshall and Gorgon (Marid is fine). Basic readouts such as speed and RPM should be available below the viewports, so that the driver can quickly glance down on them.

And that's just authentic WWII weapons. There's an entire cottage industry in Afghan based on making counterfeits of old blackpowder weapons like the Martini-Henry. The general rule is, if a weapon was brought to Afghan at some point, there will be insurgents toting it around, no matter how old and decrepit it is. :)

    [WIP] Tsarvana

TBH, I'm not too fond of the zombie stuff. Could you try not to make it too postapocalyptic (highways full of junked cars and so on)? Just regular post-Soviet decrepit poverty should do. That certainly doesn't look like a region that would take USSR's collapse too well, anyway.
  13. Well... that certainly is an image that brings a lot of jokes to mind, most of which would get me in trouble with the moderation (and with any DI that's hanging around here). :)

That's an UAZ. As long as you can still tell it's some kind of car, it's in fixable condition. :)
  15. I think that we need a new system entirely. Something like clicking on terrain (it used to work well in OFP) and having a few context-sensitive options for the driver. For example, clicking on a road gives you an option to follow it in either direction or to move directly to position. Click on an object and you'll get options to take cover behind it, drive up to it, etc... Of course, that'd need both better AI and a better way of selecting things than the action menu. Maybe for ArmA4...

That's correct. The Mk211, or Raufoss rounds have a HE charge as well as an incendiary. Not quite a grenade, but if you've ever seen a .50 round, it's quite capable of doing shrapnel damage if filled with a HE charge.
  17. It is a Leopard II, just like Panzer 87 is. It doesn't matter how you call it, it's the same vehicle. Militaries redesignate vehicles all the time.
  18. I haven't seen any, anyway. People who have been thrown out by moderation don't count. What makes a "true scotsman" in this community is clearly stated by the forum rules, and lesser sins than that are bannable offenses here, to say the least.

First, check if there are no warning messages (wrong range, wrong angle). Second, check if everything has deployed properly. I know it did work last time I used it, but I haven't for some time.

Put a "Tochka-U - Deploy" waypoint in a place where you want to it to deploy, then place "Tochka-U - Launch" on the target. Last time I used it, it was that simple.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Well, in that case it's kind of useless, anyway. The whole point here is to adjust distance from the eye. If this can't be dynamically adjusted, why bother?

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Would that be possible to prevent the view from moving? That could possibly have some uses. It could be integrated into "Safe" firemode (which makes sense - you're supposed to put the safety on before fiddling with your weapon).

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Couldn't that be done in a similar way iron sight adjustment works? In fact, the way it's operated (switch to specific firemode and fiddle with zeroing keys) makes me think that it's a rather hacky use of the zeroing system, where, instead of moving a notch or peephole up or down, the whole sight model moves forward and back. IMO, if we were going to have something like that, it'd be better done with a menu, as in VBS. Not in this game, though, or at least I think so. Maybe we could try to get BIS to include something like that for ArmA4. :)
  24. I'm not an MP guy so I don't know about units (though I'm sure the "life" communities are wonderful places in particular :) ), but the forum seems pretty nice, overall, at least compared to places like YouTube of Facebook. That said, this might just be moderators censoring the worst jerks.
  25. Well, they clearly weren't from this community. There are multiple communities dedicated to ArmA series around, some better than the others.
