Chammys Sound Mod

Ive Officially Left Chammys Sound Team,

Ive left the team because of difficulties between me and some of the mod team members.

It's surprising how often this happens in very skilled teams, in business and in games. Sorry to hear.

Best wishes to both groups, hope you can work together again sometime in the future. confused_o.gif

nope, this parting with Even will not affect the work in progress as we speak. Its awkward at the same time becuase we're both in the same ArmA/OFP clan/squad lol. But who knows, I wish the best of luck also with Even as he was responsible for getting this mod some attention and a push in the right direction, I'm sure his upcoming mods will be a great contribution to the OFP community.

But it means that Even excellent chopper sounds won't be included. I can live with that (or can do it on my own tounge2.gif)

I think you misread me : I was talking about Even's chopper sounds, which are not part of CSM. I believe CSM has a different set of sounds for them, don't worry wink_o.gif

Did you ever think about if that person could of died in Real Life and you wouldn't know you just would think they ditched the clan :P

Did you ever think about if that person could of died in Real Life and you wouldn't know you just would think they ditched the clan :P

Yeah i thought about that too rofl.gif but it did happen with a friend in another clan for Cod2 called Yuri who was a regualr on a server i play on sad_o.gif RIP! Mate

Anyways.. Evan said his chopper sound wont be in CSM as stated by himself in the video thread. wink_o.gif

I hope vehicle sounds are loud, because they are in real life. You can't speak next to a hovering helicopter, or behind a raging MBT. On the other hand, the "insidesoundcoeff" can be adjusted so that the sounds inside the vehicle are a bit muted.

I really love your sound mod so far !

Perhaps this can be implemented as a configuration option, so if you want the vehicle sounds loud you simply set a config variable, as Sickboy has done in so much of his excellent work.

Instead of having to produce three versions of the mod to try and keep everyone happy, you can produce a single mod and let each person tailor it to their personal preference?

I vote for (internally) quiet vehicles, loud weapons! In the game currently all sounds appear to be at the same level and the dynamics of the weapons are totally lost. When you bump up the volume to improve firefights you are deafened by vehicle engines!

Great work Chammy, your dedication to selecting the most realistic sounds clearly stands out.

Just downloaded the sound mod, will give it a try.

Hopefully in the future, somebody will improve the incoming BIS arty sounds. Here's 1 video of incoming mortar strikes from the enemy point of view. Almost about halfway through the video you see/hear the mortar rounds.

I talked to a clan memeber about the weapons and give him the link since he know a great deal about the weapons. He said the AK one sounds bad@ss. M249 V.1 need a higher pitch and the M240 Golf V.1 is closer then the v2.

I know what he means about the M249, it is much more a violent earsplitting bark, than a bass rumble. It is hard to relate, but it's f#ck!ng deafening when fired in a built up area without ear defenders.

This

is about the most accurate for a sense of firing a single burst (turn up volume!wink_o.gif and when the fifth firer in

this clip is on the gun, you get a great idea of firing prolonged bursts.

Those are pretty much the only clips I can find where the mic or AGC on the recorder isn't flattening the sound level, or something else isn't going on as well.

AK sounds good, but needs more violence and the grenade detonation is more like a distant mortar, needs toning down a bit!

Don't know who this is, but every calibre you can think of is going out and around 1:56 you get a great 203 show...

Wow, it sounds great in that 2nd video Protegimus!

It is in what looks to be a damp wooded area though, so the echo might be a bit overdone in a dry clear area.

the second video is a MK46.... It has a slightly smaller barrel and slightly changed internals as compared to M249 Mk2 as featured in Arma and is going to have a slightly different muzzle report (most likely Louder)

Heya Chammy,

First off I just wanted to add my praise to the long list going. It is truly one of the most incredible sound mods I've experienced thus far and eagerly await your next release.

Secondly, I was trying out XAM and noticed some things like when running, going prone, etc you can hear the equipment moving around and clanging. I was wondering if you are planning on adding such little touches as well or ever will? Just curious. smile_o.gif

That would be a nice touch, I was wondering if you plan on adding in some different/extra player sounds. Like when reloading "loading" or "reloading" or "changing mags" something to that affect (or have it randomly choose from a variety or when throwing a grenade "Frag Out!".

To be honest, random sounds like these would make me throw the mod into the recycle bin. I've been playing insurgency (the hl² mod) and i hate it when i was in a firefight, my weapon made a click and an insurgent is still around the corner. Now what, take out the knife? Forget it, dont bring a knife to a firefight. Then i have to reload: "Changing mags!". Excellent. The insurgent was just waiting for me of course he hears that and comes around.

Thats something you can do when in a firefight, were nobody further than 5 meters hears you, but not random.
