Just noticed Andalucia flag (Andalucia is a part of Spain) is the same flag Nigeria have. About the last german preview: - "Our version however had performance issues with viewdistances exceeding 5 kilometers." That's pretty good for an alpha version i think. - "The AI still has issues in Urban Warfare. The Pathfinding is working but not the aiming." Maybe they need to play it again in hard mode? If ArmA really is much improved from E3 demo stuff now.
Lou Montana 101 Posted July 11, 2006 Maybe cause they all wanted to buy BIS, like Rockstart for Rockstar North, and many other dev studios. Anyway, another problem with a "steam" system would exclude 56k users, no-internet gamers, etc etc. Should find some kind of UPS service... ---- Now, back to the topic ---- As mentioned on the previews, the urban fight has been improved greatly, just aiming to (re?)work... Let's fight in big house on Nogova city ! So, let's get back all the new stuff : - multiple guns on vehicles - urban fight improved - nice graphics - waves on sea - big maps - 200+ MP players, JIP... - BIG BIG BIG viewdistance ! - so many more... but : - no swimming. I just can say : WOW, I want ArmA NOW! No more features, just debug these and drop out the game, I want it on my HDD... I can't live any longer without you, ArmA... argh, I'm dead  I do not complain anymore about the game content, I just grrrrrowl about release date... like most of us I think. So, see you at july 14th for 100th flashnews (the demo?) ! And again : Thank you, you who made OFP possible. That game was a "daily need" ( ) for me since 2001-2002, and thanks for the "customer" (I don't feel like a "customer") support. VIVA OPERATION FLASHPOINT ! VIVA BOHEMIA ! VIVA COD... VIVA IDEA ! VIVA ARMA ! Thanks all
Radnik 18 Posted July 11, 2006 ...damnit...the key of Armed Assault release is to stop and force people not to buy copies of Flashpoint!. Please...you need to find the information which truck deliver game copies with GOTY in it in your town and steal either truck or GOTY copies. Later on you/we can make some deal how to make up BIS lost copies. It`s the only way out sory for offtopic.
Lou Montana 101 Posted July 11, 2006 I seen in the WorthPlaying interview that BIS had TBA as european editor. As I live in Europe, no matter, I stop complaining and watch you others-countries-guys crying for my ArmA copy Is TBA really the ArmA editor ? I never seen it anywhere else ? Dwarden 1125 Posted July 11, 2006 BIS guys should meet with someone from Google ... they got enough $ and are interested in great projects , servers everywhere and so on , ideal type of publisher and partner btw. since Steam deployed new virtual driver it can now deliver and publish any type of game using any type of engine w/o hit in perf... GimpyBassturd 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Hi , im brand new to the forum, im a OFP player from back when gamespy had OPF servers after they died off i thought OFP was dead so for years ive had nothing , i recently found karrilions server and started playing , but my disk was damaged and so ive been starving for the fruity goodness of flashpoint and have been choking down BF1942 and BF2 as a sorry replacement ever since, every time they say Armed Assault is just about to come out i get so excited i nearly pee myself only to be dissapointed again by another delay, i just read that june 06, was probably the month , im starting to wonder how long these extensions will go on .does anyone know what stage the game is at? maybe there should be a website with a percentage bar displaying progress, is there like a support group or a 12 step program for us OFP obbsessives? i think im starting to crack up. meyamoti 0 Posted July 11, 2006 In terms of advancements and stages,I'd say Armed Assault is possibly going into phase 5,I'v given explanations for them so I won't go into search here, but yes,Armed Assault and Game2,one of which we have heard nothing of,well....other than a few 5-15 second clips and whatnot,BIS is pretty busy no doubt, and maybe they are working on improving some things, like remaking a texture here or there, who knows, you just have to be patient like the rest of us,or you can join the group that 'demands' the release and the date and whines and gripes, both groups have one thing in common, both have to wait, both know it,one is just more patient than the other. madrussian 347 Posted July 11, 2006 Just read the German magazine “PC Powerplay†write-up (translated). Lots of good info, including AI "fortifying themselves on rooftops"... I hope this means they'll actually take up positions instead of having to be placed up there with disableAI called on them. Regarding helicoptor controls, the reviewer did have one line of complaints I must respectfully oppose: [b said: Quote[/b] ]Unfortunatly the controls stand in our way. After a bit of training we fly more or less safely but not as elegantly as in the more simple Battlefield 2. Nevertheless we don’t succeed in destroying any tank. Our wepon specialist that should handle the weapons annoys us by reacting only very slowly to our orders. And when we try to control the weapon systems ourselfs we’re overstrained. My short answer for the author is... get a joystick.  In this ultimate realistic game of OFP/ArmA, flying a helicoptor is SUPPOSE to be lifelike and challenging.  You should absolutely NEED a joystick to fly them with any precision. [b said: Quote[/b] ]To fly the Cobra, evade incomming fire, spot targets and atatck them at the same time is a tad bit too much for us. I personally spent considerable time learning to juggle all these "helicoptor tasks" effectively in OFP... and I didn't mind this a bit.  Overcoming this "difficulty" was the fun part!  Indeed, I'm quite happy not being spoon fed with simplistic arcade-like Battlefield 2 style controls!  Please don't take any of the "simulation" out of our simulation's controls. zedderzulu 7 Posted July 11, 2006 Yeah, the rooftop fortification thingy is new to me - hope it wasn't a set piece for the specific mission, because if the AI can take it upon themselves to move through buildings (how many enterable buildings there may be...) for tactical purposes then that would be utterly fantastic I agree that it's far more simpler just to get a joystick - just every so often I have my joystick too close to my mouse, and I just have to brush the mouse and suddenly it's instant ground headbutting time...
meyamoti 0 Posted July 11, 2006 Flying in OFP isn't really all that difficult, but you can easily tell who has a mouse and who doesnt, depending on how 'twitchy' a persons movements are in an air vehicle, not to mention a joystick gives a whole new freedom aspect to helicopter and especially jets, doing all those things at once isn't so difficult..hell I do it even in bf2...my advice would be practice,it would not be a good thing at all if the dev's made flying so much more simpler because somebody didnt want to train themselves, damn lazy *********************** ****** *** *** *** ...........*cough* I'v had too many experiences of people whining about weapons or controls because it wasn't easy enough for them to use and they would not practice,so they just made good cannon fodder. Donnervogel 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Personally I wouldn't give much on the fortifying on rooftops. It's most probably preplaced units. I just trasnlated as it was written. I don't think the author has a profound understanding of the OFP AI and OFP mission editing in general anyway.
Frantic 0 Posted July 12, 2006 forget the guy from the german magazine...first: we dont know how the handling of the helicopter was on that E3 demo...second: i dont think BIS gives a f**k about BF2!
King Haggis 0 Posted July 12, 2006 I've used a joystick too for flying choppers in Flashpoint but I think my latest method suits me best. I use the arrow keys (w,a,s and d) to move the chopper. The f and c key to change altitude. The q and e keys for the rudders and I use the freelook option to look around in the cockpit with the mouse. This way, you can look around you, spot a target and steer towards it with they keys while keeping your vision towards the target using the mouse. It's a bit like track IR with the mouse being the tracking device. You should try it. It may be a bit strange at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll most likely never want to go back to joystick or mousesteering. Sorry for going offtopic again. Major dissapointment caused by those whom are greedy and want nothing more than things for themself and the game to be out as soon as possible, rather than those who want to wait for it to be finished and not rushed out. Dissapointment is caused by opinion,it is not BIS's fault,it is the one who views it.
