Arma 3 Eden Editor Sneak Preview Live Stream

Well done BIS and many thanks!

Question - I often like to mess about with the official showcases, campaign missions etc.. to learn. Imported good old "Infantry Showcase" to check it out in the 3D editor and the scenario doesn't start - ie movement down the valley and dialogue etc... (works fine in 2D). Any ideas guys?

Just a tip: Addons that reveal additional objects work fine with Eden.

Addons tested: CJTF101 Editor, Dren's Editor Upgrade, Skyline Editor, Stars Editing Suite.

Almost shed a tear when acknowledgement was made about the painstaking process of putting something on a table in 2D editor. I'm sure the Singleplayer/Campaign guys feel that pain more vividly than I as well :)

Quoted for truth :) I've had a quick fly-around with the new editor, spent some time just happily placing small objects on top of tables, chairs, etc and positioning AI behind cover. The control-similarities with Zeus made learning the new system very quick. I've noticed that I don't seem to be able to set AI to prone/crouched - is that a limit of how much can be done in the editor (it seems like everything gets placed in a sort of 'preInit' state?) or will we see the nice little formation/behavior/stance UI from Zeus/Curator make an appearance in Eden/3DEN as well?

my mind is still blown and i can't actually do anything but oogle the editor...

 

Again Kudos to the Bis dev team... crazy stuff...

 

As a side note I would vote for the 2d editor to stay....

When I was placing a civ vehicle in my map I accidentally removed the driver from the car with my mouse and swapped him with another driver. Cool.

Just played around with it some. Got a lot of errors starting it up, but it's probably a conflicting mod. Once I got in and played around I was blown away! Absoutly amazing! Now I'll probably sink even more time into the editor and the game. Great work BIS!

The first 4 pictures, nothing major, but I'm just getting used the controls

 

 

 

No reason to worry, the 3d editor has all the features the 2d editor has and many more, just takes a few minutes to get used to it. I have to admit, placing triggers and markers and so on is strange at the beginning, but in the end it's the same as before, just better.

 

Those are some pretty awesome pictures! You can easily make some extreamly detailed missions with this.

While you are working on the editor, how about adding some kind of integration with extended mission files (description.ext, scripts, etc)? Cheers :)

Loving Eden so far, I want to stay up all night but got to be up early for work tomorrow. I would like to see an option on a unit/vehicle preferences that opens up virtual arsenal to change the unit/vehicle loadout (edit: containers too). Also an interface with sliders so that we can adjust in real-time the newer setFog command would be handy.

One thing that seems to be missing is the object type which can be found at the top right of the 2d object editor.

 

Has anyone located the gamelogics?

Never mind just found them hidden with modules.

The 2D editor is meant to disappear?

There'll be a 2D mode/view for 3DEN but otherwise 3DEN will going-forward be the exclusive Arma 3 Editor, as mentioned previously, the 2D editor sticking around is just to ease the transition.

Omigosh yes, especially considering how much scenario testing involves tweaking of said files.

I love making missions for my community. And after playing around with the new editor for a few hours I can say this is THE BEST gift for any mission maker. THANK YOU, BOHEMIA!

Im new in the arma editor serie, so i dont know nothing about the inputs/outputs for calling respawn, triggers and etc. (i just made maps for CSS,TF2)
I tried to search some tutorias but all are made for 2d editor (since the eden 3d editor released today DUH!).

For example: i want make a Team Deathmatch mission, i already made the "map". now u just need to "code" the functions and classes?
I found a example to make a simple respawn, but i need edit the "Description.ext". But in my folder only have the "mission.sqm".
Its some thing the eden editor made different or i missing some basic stuff?

I'd not worry much about it, reducing the graphic and viewdistance levels, will make it run properly, even on an old laptop.

It's an still an .sqm but the structure of it is different.
