Can someone confirm ? Crashing UAV Darter NATO into ground when flying manually = Crash Game to desktop.

Anyone ?

Confirmed, crash with the "Arma 3 Stopped working" message.

Thx guys, I've found that bug playing domination, it crash all clients and dedicated server too. Checked in editor and confirmed, no mods.

Guys I posted twice on the rifle clipping issue and the mad AI skills (which become critical when clipping prevents player from shooting behind cover) but my thread was deleted twice.

At this point I would just like to know if the DEVs intend to do something about the issue which is well documented but seemingly excluded from discussions.

If this is not the right thread, please direct me to the correct one but I'd really love to hear the DEVs about this because it's a game breaker to me.

Open a ticket, write a description and add a proper repro.

EDIT: diligently check existing tickets before posting your own, your issue may has been already reported.

It's already been reported though I couldn't and still can't find it (MadDogX told me in PM but I accidentally deleted that, can't find anything about rifle clipping or just clipping) but I wanted to know what's being done about it.

One thing that catched my eye in your post was when you said something along these lines: "what the sight sees, is what the muzzle sees"

Now, when I'm behind cover shooting the enemies while revealing as little of myself as possible, the muzzle is often almost touching the obstacle I'm behind of, the sights are of course well clear of it because they sit couple of inches higher than the barrel, It's the operator's job to make sure the barrel also clears the obstacle.

The AI isn't able to shoot either if their barrel isn't clear btw, they won't and if they would they'd hit the rock too, no difference compared to player.

So, if you wanted to shoot outside the window, you'd rest the rifle onto it. As I said, these "adjustments" behind the cover should be taken care for because irl you would be in one posture when hiding and then in another posture (I call it "adjust") when shooting.

An adjustment in this example might be to crouch below and shoot blindly (rifle above you) or lean on the side of the window and stretch the arm on the side (the rifle would go outside the window and not through the wall like it does now).

The game doesn't take into account the fact that one thing is if you hide behind a window and another is if you want to shoot through it so these adjustments are not possible. You're good to go when you're behind the obstacle but you can't fire from behind it. If you want to shoot, you've got to get into the open. At Elite level it is sure death.

There's where the problem lies. We need a special shooting mode for these situations (anyone ever played Vietcong?) which may also prove useful in CQB.

My proposal is to have the rifle go down when in close proximity of an obstacle but then you're supposed to have an extra key to "adjust" over/around the obstacle and shoot over / lean beside it (we have the V key which partly does that). In order to do that, the rifle must be a physical entity in the engine and it mustn't be allowed to clip.

Rest assured, though, that if you look at the videos on that ticket, you'll see what I mean with this being a HUGE problem.

1 thing is if you are 1mm from the window as in these pictures and another is if you're lying prone on a ridge and trying to shoot a target 200/300m away and below you.

Your example is perfect at very close quarters, something which ArmA3 hasn't got (hopefully just not yet) but the problem still stands for anything past 3 meters ahead of the player and this is suitable topic for the AI logic behavior too.

The AI must be taught to take cover as top priority before anything else and at the cost of breaking formation and only then can it shoot from behind cover.

Lacking this function, both the player and the AI can never shoot from behind cover (90% of the times they'll hit the cover and not the target because the rifle is clipping but you can't see it on a screen as you would in a real 3d environment!) and this is very unrealistic for a game that wants to be a simulator.

This correct AI behavior can not be left to modding (WWAICOVER) but strictly needs this function which would also allow a more human-like behavior that doesn't need such powerful uber aimbotting (let's face it, without this uber aiming power, an ai forced to shoot outside cover would be easy prey).

Am I the only person to notice that BI ruined the flight model for aircraft?

This will be like the only game in the world where when you roll in a plane you don't turn at all...

Nothing better than chucking a grenade into your squad mates while trying to type something :). Haven't had that happen though since early alpha, but I stopped playing multiplayer due to the performance in early alpha so the bug might still have persisted.

Auto-rudder was removed from airplanes. So now when you roll, you don't turn. Even if the rudder would kick in automatically in roll it wouldn't rotate plane just horizontally but also pitch downward in real life. So current state doesn't make sense, rolling should always turn plane, even more than in dezkit's stable branch example video.

Or is this something completely different than the lack of auto-rudder? Plane's missing some turn values or too much some stabilizers? Or the flight modelling just doesn't agree with laws of physics?

A good rework on the clipping so that player and AI may find a way to fight with cover which is everything in CQB.

Can't do CQB in this game without fixing the clipping issue. Great Vid.

Clippping, yes, and much GREATER dexterity values (weight and size) of weapons as well. then sniper rifles are cumbersome, but smg or a shot shotgun is much more faster to move and get caught on fewer surfaces in smaller spaces like indoors.

Yup a quick fix would be to change the dexterity values greatly so that big guns are more cumbersome.
