Honestly I wasn't even sure it wasn't just a model until I saw footage of it flying.

Some interesting features from purely an aesthetic view, like the engine inlets being above the midline instead of the traditional below. Hope the Arma 3 team takes notes.

^^ not really no: thread is about Iran unveiling a new jet, and it is NOT a direct wish list.

The one taking off is a scale model isn't it? It looks awfully small compared to the runway.

TBH this looks ridiculously bad. I watched a video earlier today where you could see that it's welded together real bad.

Huh, interesting aircraft but I think these people panicing over it being used to attack US ships are a bit too paranoid. If you compare it to the F-22, the leading edges are more jagged, there are several rounded parts (and iirc round= larger radar cross section) whereas the F-22 looks as though someone cheated with sharp edges, and the skin seems a bit saggy in spots rather than pulled tight. You're also going to tell me that a nation just now investing in being able to build their own attack helicopter has the ability to push out a top of the line "stealth" fighter jet as well?

That said I kind of like the overall design, reminds me of the fantasy fighter birds we would see in old video games, kind of neat seeing that become a reality but I think this whole thing is a bit blown out of proportion...and I just know the AF is going to be pointing at this and saying "See this is why they need the F-35!"

The thing looks like it's made out of carbon fiber and that cockpit glass canopy looks like plexiglass. I say that the model we are looking at now is a fake.

Apparently it's subsonic. And I can't see any internal weapons bays so all the "stealth" tech appears to be of the go faster stripes and racing fins persuasion.

Almost look like one of those homemade helos\cars that pop from time to time.

This is Iran trying to flex some muscle?

Looks like it's made of plastic, cardboard and plexi glass - held together by the will of Allah.

LOL! Well it does seem to be plugged into that picture of a Mullah in the far left corner - Mullah powered?

Elsewhere near Tel Aviv a few Israeli flyboys are having drinks and highfivin.

it might be aimed to be low profile support multirole for theirs fast boats fleet ...

also depends how cheap is it to manufacture and how reliable it is ...

all in all it's quite interesting design from country w/o any new generation planes until now

Just a light CAS aircraft. No way it can go supersonic with such fat high lift airfoils and overall composition.

I think they´re just trolling you. Showing bad welds on purpose so that anyone will go "oh look at the shitty 4th world shitcraft plane" - while in reality most iranian street mechanics are master craftsmen, able to make better weldings than that with a cigarette lighter :D

The one that's shown in the showroom really looks like a fake... most likely a replica. The short clip that shown its flying will tell you its real enough of a plane. But the real question is the capability. I dont know how the intelligence communities work, but surely no one in the community will simply dismiss this as a cheap knock off propaganda kinda a thing right? Maybe a diversion from the nuclear issue. Just my naivety thinking here.

I don't know. Maybe just a general honest attempt at building a new, first ever Iranian designed fighter?

Personally I am not dismissing it, however the one in the video looks like an RC model. If they wanted to show it fly, they would have shown it taking off and landing, in HD.

Clearly what they showed was a mock up only, I'd go with an RC Jet as the flying one as well.

I dunno make a few hundred of these attach a couple of anti ship missles and they could easily swarm Naval targets.

I can't help but like the design :)
