kylania 568 Posted November 26, 2010 BIS, Will the sprocket version of this DLC work with the steam version of the game ?Because I want to buy the DLC from sprocket not steam. As they've stated many many times, Sprocket DLC will work with any version of the game. It's just a mod.
Binkowski 26 Posted November 26, 2010 On the other hand BAF was packed with good content while PMC is packed with crappy stuff.. you have a point kind sir.
Smurf 12 Posted November 26, 2010 On the other hand BAF was packed with good content while PMC is packed with crappy stuff.. ...unless BIS make a surprise or show us a last time info on what else is comming (can´t believe there is only the Xm8 and AA12 coming...). But Im buying it either way.
twisted 128 Posted November 26, 2010 you have a point kind sir. will wait for the release before being able to make a accurate judgement. the new trailers looks nicish but the map looks really interesting.
stupidwhitekid75 11 Posted November 26, 2010 Actually think that they could have some sort of surprise, the info for PMC on the website still only gives the overview option..weapons/characters/vehicles/etc were posted up for BAF pretty early if I remember right

jonstyle 49 Posted November 26, 2010 I surely hope the missions wont be dePBO resistable. like the BAF missions were. I find great joy in altering official and unofficial missions/campaigns to my liking. But I will definitely buy this. I cant believe so many people are wining when BI is continuing to expand the ArmAII universe. If you don't like it, just don't buy it!
4 IN 1 0 Posted November 26, 2010 Yes, you're probably right. But G. said this a little bit more as a "declaration" whereas the PMC guy sounds a bit more like he is asking it as a question (different expression). In other words: G -> Am I good! PMC in vid -> Am I good? :D This is what my memories give me at least! :p Just ignore my post, it is such an unimportance... The actural line James G sain in the shilka mission is "Another bunch of bad guys bite the dust. Am I good? or Am I good!" So both were there
Jonn 10 Posted November 26, 2010 As they've stated many many times, Sprocket DLC will work with any version of the game. It's just a mod. I guess I wasn't paying attention :o
TechnoTerrorist303 10 Posted November 26, 2010 I'm not a fan of the trailer tbh. There were moments that looked like they were going to be awesome and then suddenly something dodgy happened. That's a video editing issue I suspect though and not a problem with the DLC. Looking forward to expanding my Armaverse, especially now I have a graphics card that can actually manage it properly! Richey79 10 Posted November 26, 2010 Way you have to look at it is, longer campaign, less content......more content, less campaign. I might give this one a miss: I'd much prefer more content than more campaign. Wouldn't mind spending more £££ for some real content, tbh. The community has made many excellent campaigns (although Gaia's ones are always something special, admittedly). The only thing it tends not to produce are voice-overs, and this is truly BIS' weak point. Please, please have Maruk tear up Dan's contact details after this campaign. We also get a whiny Asian guy with a twelve-year-old's voice (who will no doubt be the team's computer expert) - very original. It's a shame, because the new Asian face looks like a great model. What was that about 'pussy poet' in the trailer? pussy Poet? Pussy-poet? Wut? (NSFW language - only what's in the trailer) Shapur gives me low expectations for the new map. I hope I'm proved wrong, but the only thing I'll be able to preview with the low-rez stuff is the smattering of new gear and models. I'll be waiting for reviews of the campaign on these boards, I suppose.
Zipper5 74 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) It's a bit odd that we're jumping to conclusions that this DLC won't have as much content as the BAF DLC, let alone the possibility of it having more. The only way we'll know the true extent of the content will be when the 30th arrives. And given the way he says it, Richey, perhaps the character's name is actually Poet? "Don't be a pussy, Poet!" rather than "Don't be a pussy-poet!" Towards the end the guy says "Poet, man, you know I can't do this!" as well. That guy 10 Posted November 26, 2010 waa waa waah get over it. they use REAL people for voice acting. you know, schmoes like us. you know how many people here on this forum dont have movie actor voices? i would be willing to say just about ALL of us. next time you are out side (in the real world) with REAL people, take note of how many of them sound (focus on males in this case). notice that? NOT PROFESSIONAL VOICE ACTORS! they dont all have a deep gravely smooth voice that booms out and smacks you in the face with its reasuredness and manliness. in fact some ADULT males have (by comparative standards) higher pitched voices! HOLY SHIT! the world was just set alight! my biggest problem with the trailer is it seems to (hint at) give away some critical plot points. like since when is there a security contract that ALLOWs for them to fire on the US military? "oh its alright, just shoot that american soldier over-there with our SUV MINIGUN" "thats not in our contract! it don't have the "friendly fire" box ticked on the DDC0234 form!" ZOMG
moricky 211 Posted November 26, 2010 NOT PROFESSIONAL VOICE ACTORS! They actually are professional voice actors, but not the "voice of god" actors you might expect. We tried to focus on more realistic palette of voices (for example, asian guy's ingame character is young, so he fits the role well), rather than to sound "epic" at any cost. Reusing actors from previous projects is more question of time. Organizing casting of completely new voice actors would take valuable time from people who has more responsibilities - like writing the actual dialogs and story. In this case, we decided we want better story with current voice actors.

Not knocking your current cast of voice actors, however when you hear "coopers" very distinctive voice playing as other characters it kind of ruins it slightly. Let me know if you are interested, for future releases I have high quality recording equipment and Im also able to edit the sound files to sound like grainy radio transmissions, even masked pilot voices. Alwarren 2767 Posted November 26, 2010 You're just confusing the fact that they try to make an interesting story with them "trying to copy CoD". There's a big difference. I for one am happy that they still haven't forgotten the plot point.I want Razor team to come back in the next DLC :D Well said. I was always interested in this DLC since I heard the campaign is by the Eagle Wing author, but this trailer has me interested even more. Promises to be an interesting campaign. I was not attacking the voice actors, but trying to point out certain vocal qualities that normal people have, as opposed to those "epic" people in film and other media. i was actually trying to defend the current voices by highlighting the idiocy of some of the reactions to the voice acting (people bitching that they dont sound "epic", or super manly or what ever). so yeah, sarcastic/ironic tone of voice does not transmit well on the 'net :butbut: sorry
moricky 211 Posted November 26, 2010 i think you misunderstood my post. Sorry, my bad. Nevertheless, message for others stays the same :) I surely hope the missions wont be dePBO resistable. like the BAF missions were. You can actually unpack Lite addons in Common folder. Missions_BAF.pbo (and also Missions_PMC.pbo) are for obvious reasons lacking mission.sqm files, but everything else - descriptions, scripts, FSMs - is there. And if you own a full DLC, with certain tricks, you can get even those ;)
onlyrazor 11 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Most of the voice acting isn't TERRIBLE, but they need to hire a different guy, its weird hearing the same voice on different characters in different games. Actually Valve uses the same VAs for most of their games. That one opera singer voiced all the Orange Box products.:bounce3: Then again, those were games where voices were either robotic or heavily accented. Undeceived 392 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) [...] Good to see that you devs are looking into the (mostly positive) feedback from the community! Obviously it already is too late now but some new and fresh voices (beside the already new ones) for the main characters would be great maybe for the next release. Nevertheless, BIS rocks! avengerzx 10 Posted November 26, 2010 The US had some in stock if I remember well enough , I might be wrong though . Erm, according to Wikipedia, US has cancelled all orders during 2005 and only 170+ XM8 has been produced by then.
WillaCHilla 10 Posted November 26, 2010 Is there already a How-to in the bis wiki for implementing the new engine features (Shotgun Ballistics Modelling and in-game Video Playback) in a mission? -If not, please update it with the official release of the DLC.
