eJay 1 Posted September 22, 2006 All you...If you want most reallistic game about war just join army and stop talking about ArmA weakness. Don't expect too much from BiS game - the better emotions you will have after clicking ArmA.exe directly after premiere...
Placebo 29 Posted September 22, 2006 well to be honest , i cant see what that would achieve the horse as bolted so why bolt the stable ? ,if i was to start searching simhq etc You can't see what it would achieve? Yet you could see enough to post the question as well as a somewhat badly hidden accusatory statement rolled into a question? Next time the course of action if you have no intention of following up when further information is asked of you is to refrain from starting something in the first place. I'm sorry, but I’m so sick of statements like this (everyone that says this, not just you eJay). I saw it way too much in the Project Reality BF2 community and still see it here. Why would you not want a “warfare†game/sim to not push boundaries are far as realism? Were you and are you still completely satisfied with war games 5-10 years ago? Well, do you want the same old shit for future years to come with no progression outside graphics? Join the army..............
Scrub 0 Posted September 22, 2006 The renegade images are rough, true (even though LeEstranger posted higher quality stills that made up for it). Â IMHO, the leaked press release that has proliferated the web has not done any image damage, as just about, if not all the sites that have posted on it, have made good mention of it's being GC2006/pre-release/WIP and such. Â I believe there's still much to be seen when it goes gold, even if it's just tweaks. Â There're many little things that are currently noticable and detract from it overall. Â And if we fail to notice aspects of the game after it's tweaked, it's a good thing - like the insects, birds, foliage moving - it's so natural, it's taken for granted, and then people are shocked when they actually notice it.. That is excellence IMO. As for avoiding spoilers, spoilers without warning will not be allowed on the forums, if people want to avoid spoilers they can avoid threads where spoilers might be discussed. It's been soooo long since I've seen the need for spoilers on this site, I forgot how you guys handle them! Â

OK tell me what it would achieve ? the game is to be released in november e3 was in may , the videos from e3 are all over the internet if you need them use the google search.altho these videos from gc are poor, in my opinion so where the ones from e3 but bis released a nice video ,i thought to counteract those videos, therfore in a logical progression i asked a question wether Bis would release another video and or a release date of the demo to counteract the gc videos? If i was gonna make an accusation it would not be hidden i would pm you .

Nope, you are never allowed to play ArmA again. Well, no arguing that this would be the ultimate realism in games as so far as to simulate what it must be like to be dead (my guess entirely:). Now, does anybody want this kind of realism??? Nope, that is where the army comes in. One mistake and you are really dead:):) So, for the gamer, everybody has his own fealing where the boundery of realism should be. Bis, set up a boundery which they think is correct. I just play the damned game cause i like the choices BIS makes (but lots of my friends think OFP is way too realistic and prefer BF:)

I think you underestimate how entertaining fear of death can be.
TrevorOfCrete 0 Posted September 23, 2006 on the question of storyline, i think after release im going to avoid this forum until i get my hands on the game (UK here). i dont want anyone ruining the experiance for me
Coffin Joe 0 Posted September 23, 2006 In Steel Battalion for the xbox (the game with the big ass controller) if you don't eject before your mech explodes your file gets wiped from the xbox HDD. And Placebo, you don't have spoiler tags employed on the forums? They work like so. Highlight the blacked out text to read. Quite nice.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted September 23, 2006 Spoilers? I don't understand how "spoilers" could be applied to a game not even released. Talking about plot elements of the campaign would be a spoiler; how can talking about the game's consituent elements be a spoiler? Can't advertising any novel features therefore be one big spoiler, in this case? "Oh no, I wanted multiple gunner positions to be a surprise." Pffft. I would have expected this to whet the community's appetite, not to piss them off by apparently spoiling the "surprise."

It's quite frustrating reading post about "bad textures", "bad animation" etc. Just wait, download demo and make your opinion. At now you can only see ArmA's bad things. Zenga 1 Posted September 23, 2006 slightly offtopic  but why do most of the screenshots of blackhawks show them as being shot down and in flames? is this a subtle  hint  for peeps to watch out for a big bad North Sahrani AA system thats gunna destroy us? bootneckofficer no ! they do this because i think the game is very unbalanced and they will show me how easy its to destroy a Black Hawk .. it will be cool if you shot down a black hawk and the american soldiers say "black hawk down we got a black hawck down" like from the movie.. xnodunitx 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Nah that would be a waste, because then you'd have several US soldiers shouting it at once and what if theres a mission made and their by themself or somethin?
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted September 24, 2006 If any of my troops started shouting that out aloud I'd shoot them in the head. That's the kind of message you only broadcast over a radio net, anyway. And yeah, it'd ruin custom missions, like how my old ECP DSAI extension would cause people to shout "grenade!" even when they were in safe mode. Â
scruffy 22 Posted September 24, 2006 The german website Spielesüchtig.de will post a preview about ArmA, most probably tomorrow. Maybe even some small videos will follow. For now there are already a few screenshots available in their gallery, you get to it through this newspost and then just click on the picture on the right side. Don't expect too much from BiS game - the better emotions you will have after clicking ArmA.exe directly after premiere... ;) Unfortunately it's this kind of attitude that has lead to the stream of crap that games developers have released recently. And your attitude lead to global dissapointment. Don't forget that it is only a game. C'mon guys. Don't fight:) For me the realism of OFP(:Elite;) was the balance of things. Imho the balance in Elite (and i hope in ArmA) was great. What do i mean with balance? Well, for instance the fact that you could shoot/kill thru a (car)window. The window breaks, the enemy is killed. Now, the gfx of the window broken was very basic BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER, because the fact that you can do it is the important thing. E.g. in GR you can't do it, now THAT is stupid. OFP is (as far as the games i have ever played) THE MASTER of balance, reflected in the modelled skies, rainbow and footsteps. I f*kking don't care about some humvee texture thingy which isn't 100% correct:) Nope, i want a believable world, so ballistics YES, perfect copies of T72 uhmmm NO. And Elite presented me with that ... hence it was/is very immersive and ArmA tied with TIR will only better this:) (i hope) Edit: I watched a part of that 1 hour vid of some finnish guys playing ArmA preview ... they are terrible at the game but they also tried some interesting stuff. At one point they tried to shoot a lighthouse light. It wouldn't break ... but i thought, well they are sh*t at ArmA but trying to shoot that light made PERFECT sense to me ... If i wanted more realism i would ask for this, to be able to shoot down all lights.
