  1. BI are mysterious people, we'll just have to wait and see.
  2. Both the US Army and USMC use the HIMARS, or atleast the US Army trains on them (but to only train makes little sense). http://www.14faregiment.org/id17.html If I recall correctly the MLRS was shown before the BM-21 so it is possible that at the time they did not have 'wheels with artillery' capability. Â They may have also chosen MLRS because in terms of firepower HIMARS Vs BM-21 would be exceedingly undercut, MLRS being the better choice for alittle balance. (although I wonder if there was just a typo on the ranges or if the BM-21 will cover only 30 maybe 60km vs the MLRS 300.) As for the MH-60 that is sort of odd since it shows Navy on the tail yet information reads Army, maybe typo's? Or maybe because the army used it first... I could also swear at some point in an older video I saw the CH-46 but don't hold me to it, either way it's pretty obvious they aren't showcasing everything.
  3. I think that is moreso normal then parallax But yes the aircraft is great, in this case it's right to be shiny since it is painted in glossyish (reflection indicates) paint, reminds me a bit of lock on flaming cliffs in terms of sleekness of the model. I LOVE the new picture of the huey.
  4. We are talking about this screen by the way: http://www.armedassault.info/ftp/pics/news/pics1/picasteam1.jpg The pic i posted in my last post (its captured from the video of russian forces - with the flag upper right) is there to demonstrate the big difference in quality. Oh okay, I thought they meant the one with the T-90.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

They get dirty. You just have to drive them through the mud first. This game is on the same engine as Dirt. Made by the same people. I'm looking forward to the vehicles. Not quite what I meant, compare. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sir_polaris/3292802187/sizes/o/ to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped....005.jpg If they do get dirty then that is great to hear, but if the vehicles specular remains default such as shown in that first picture its going to look very strange. Picky I know but I just would like to have seen the military vehicles painted in dull, unshiny, ugly flat paint like the real thing.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Yeah they did change it but texture only, in term of the model changes from blackhawk to seahawk they didn't do anything. Though that I could forgive if the vehicles weren't so damned shiny, again we come to the gloss painted military vehicles, how can you begin to claim have realism when the vehicles are painted in gloss. I just wish they'd stop touting it as "Flashpoint" as if it is "THE" flashpoint, kind of an insult to the original and BIS. I'll be curious to see wether or not they go to court. EDIT: Woops I was editing my post to be nicer, did'n't realise you quoted me on it DM.

    HWM ADDONS PACK RELEASE V4.0

Actually Greece does use AH-64D's. http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2003/q4/nr_030902m.html
  8. I'll repeat myself. "Two military's battling it out for control and defense rather then ex military slaughter civilians" OFP had a darker atmosphere and it was felt through all senses. Â Music, Nato doing what they could with what they had, the Resitence doing the same, all sides having casaulties, the grave scenes. There was a sense of desperation throughout most of the game at moments of the ex USSR invasion, Nato retreating from retaliating forces of T-72's. the Nato squad running alone to escape from the island on the last call trying to avoid as many USSR forces as possible only to be captured. That is what made the game so great imho, there wasn't always victory, sometimes you win some sometimes you lose some and along the way you come to a point "Oh no...surely this is the end.." Â There was also the reflecting scene of the graveyard The "happiest" theme I could think of from OFP was "Walk" (also on of my favs) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPRfCDhn3uI Then you have your darker/eerie ones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3IqMqtitMQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuSVlC1IT6w&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFeQVWtuLWA&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpf_ktDLtv0&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0mobXRWH1Y&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8jgLlH4VBs&feature=related And of course- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8THsUFP83Lc&feature=related Such a thing wouldn't fit the atmosphere (by default) unless things go way south, every military and guerrilla team are already formed, its unlikely that either side will be retreating from one island to another to get to safety. The only way it could fit perhaps is. If the civilians form a resistence of their own FOR their government to once again protect themselves against their enemies after witnessing the death of their own unarmed friends and relatives having been killed for doing nothing at all then it may fit. Otherwise you can change the music to default OFP and convince yourself it fits, which is possible but by default it likely will not.
  9. Its exactly the same song from OFP, it hasnt even been edited. Just added stright into the video. Its exactly the same flashpoint songs could be as a mini blow to codies as everyone reconises OFP music. The OFP tracks in the videos havnt been edited at all* Er... I'd listen to the OFP version again, Matt. Quite the difference. - Track 1 - Main Theme. I think he means the xbox version, iirc it wasn't the EXACT same as original OFP and as great as OFP's music is it just wouldn't fit the scenerio and atmosphere.

    HWM ADDONS PACK RELEASE V4.0

Drat monty67t beat me to it. Glad to see you guys have released and I hope that perhaps you make a Delta version in the future, but first you have to tweak some pilots to have the IHADSS helmets :P But seriously excellent work.
  11. lol true... what i can say about arma 2 graphics is they far, far away from crysis... far ahead off course crysis is too shiny and eye candy for me... I agree, Crysis still has some great stuff and it actually CAN be better but the problem is everything is so bloody shiny, if they toned that down things could look far more realistic, but that will never happen, certainly not by (most) of the fanbase. But who cares about the graphics when there is one far more important aspect that OFP, Arma and ArmaII will have over Crysis or for that matter virtually any other nonsim (and sometimes even the) game out there...what you can do with what you have, modability, realtime (permanent) abilities and much more.
  12. I agree with this 1100%. you guys taste are weird really, that remade OFP theme aint that good at all(which never reminds me about the good old OFP, instead it brings back a shit load of miserable memories of ARMA, bugs, whining and bashing; oh and the remade OFP theme itself as well) how hard can it be to use back the original theme in OFP? At this point unless they make ArmaII like a copy of OFP it's not likely it's going to remind you alot about OFP (lets face it OFP is its own entity), in a way the ArmaII OPF remix is fitting, considering the events that took place as it played in OFP. Russian forces invading a peaceful civiliazation, killing civilians who oppose them although in the first few seconds it looked like they just gunned down some for simply seeing them. Â They then took control of the island so it's only natural that it would have a darker and colder, more "desperate" tone to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5WQqcfkNq4 (theme) And while I would love to hear it again in a crisp fresh manner it wouldn't fit Arma II, the newer theme in a way COULD fit if say CDF forces are engaging the Red Star forces. Two military's battling it out for control and defense rather then a military slaughter civilians (before promptly being slaughtered by the civilian resistence) but I'm curious where the other factions might play into this, I for one would like to see someone other then the USA be the hero for once (yes I'm american before you bash me for that).
  13. I agree with AVIBIRD1, that said I like the atmosphere, the sky is more dank which reminds me of OFP, it's all bright and sunny where you can be happy happy joy joy. The storyline is also quite interesting as well, BIS could have made the storyline between the US and racs more interesting had that one mission instead of northerns dressed as RAC's they actually were and had some motive to betray the remaining US forces....Aaanyway, this new one is quite interesting, we do have an evident bad guy but how will this all pour over. US said they won't get involved, Russia stated they will IF they feel threatened, which leaves the government to battle against an opposing rival militia... Â Yes it could be quite interesting, what a shocker it would be to see the US and Russia cooperating for ones, poor Guba would be rolling in his grave. (No that is not sarcasm, I really would be amazed)
