aseliot 2 Posted March 24, 2014 Don't understand why people find it so impossible. I completed the mission first time on Expert difficultly without a single causality. Just take your time. Grab the truck with the sirens on. Go pick up the NATO survivors, then head and rescue the guerrillas use the demolitions expert to detect the mines. Send him in front and follow in his path in single column. Get the guerrillas and head to the coast or airfield. Simple. Of course there other ways to complete the mission. This is just the most obvious choice. First time i got shot by an AI being able to see in pitch black night. (Don't suppose they have NV when they use flashlights) Second time I went to the NATO guys and the FIA guys but my whole team got killed by literaly the last group of enemies being the sitting ducks they are. Third time I just skipped it all, headed east on a quad onto the hill base northwest of the airfield got away on a chopper. Fourth time I did the thing NATO, FIA thing again only I got so tired of the explosive specialist becuase he was at a sudden point literaly walking back and forth it was really laughable so I thought i'd put him out of his misery and then I had mission failed? Heh, I could've accidentaly friendly fired one of my teammates and it would've been gameover? I need saves, don't have saves. Unlimited saves is enabled. scottmillerukctrg 12 Posted March 24, 2014 i think the point is to cause frustration so you play the other epilogue. people who played the other epilogue first thought that it was boring and tried out this one. bi pwns.
Rydygier 1309 Posted March 24, 2014 Personally I found "calm" epilogue quite nice. Something like interactive outro. One cons only - disabled saves, not so frustrating there however, as mission is easy and short - primary challenge is to reach petrol station before fuel end. Lack of saves in the second epilogue however is the only and sufficient reason to not try it again.
EpicFruit 10 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) This is my first time playing any of the ARMA games, and I must say, ARMA 3 is very enjoyable. However, this last mission kinda ruined my whole experience with the campaign. I have tried to complete this mission for at least the past 5 hours, but have continuously ended up having to start again from the beginning because CSAT hit squads would suddenly emerge from nowhere and shoot my entire squad down in a matter of seconds. The AI is slightly too powerful at range, given the darkness of the map and the usual engagement distance, even on normal difficulty. The "ending" of Kerry being killed is pretty pointless, may as well put "better luck next time". Playing through this many missions just to be put down like a dog, who would possibly settle for an "ending" like that? I also expected an explanation of Miller's identity and mission, considering that this is the "ending". I chose to help Miller because I was curious about the plot, and I was mightily disappointed. The lack of saves is perhaps the biggest waste of time I have ever encountered. I have given up on the campaign after my final attempt, in which I managed to rescue both the NATO and FIA squads, and made it to the heliport with all squad members alive, only to find nothing there, and nothing at any of the nearby ports, then being assassinated by another CSAT hit squad on my way to the next heliport. UPDATE: I ran this mission again using fast moving tactics, and I actually got through most of it without issue. But the sniper at the solar farm continuously headshots me in my truck from any angle, any speed, and any range. I even got as far as the heliport with the chopper IN SIGHT this time and my 8 man squad in line formation, then suddenly BOOM HEADSHOT from some bastard in the grass. The mission is beatable, I'm sure, but I think I've got better things to do. Edited March 25, 2014 by EpicFruit
pavel volonsky 44 Posted March 25, 2014 All the helos and boats appears by chance. mostly 5% for a helo and 15% for a boat.
wattywatts 76 Posted March 25, 2014 Actually it 25, 50 and 75% depending on a distance from the starting point. And the boats and helis are not the only vehicles you can use to escape... :)

mushik 13 Posted March 25, 2014 ... The mission is beatable, I'm sure, but I think I've got better things to do. I completely agree to this conclusion. Not being able to save the progress, but being forced to go again and again through the same cut-scenes makes missions not better. Making something more difficult does it not make it more interesting!
lugiahua 26 Posted March 26, 2014 It's just far easier to rescue FIA after you found a helo or an APC.

five_seven5-7 56 Posted March 26, 2014 Wow I can't believe I waited for a year for the worst ending ever!!!! they need to have a save option....waist of my money There is more in the mission than meets the eye. The actual death is one of the two endings, thats why theres no save option. Since earthquakes continues to exist, if we approach the dome from where we stole the truck, it triggers a mission to search for explanations as well missions for saving cornered mates. 2nd ranger 282 Posted March 26, 2014 Searching the dome is kind of a letdown because 1. you've already been in there and Kerry didn't say anything at that time, 2. because he only makes a comment about the seismic map and ignores all of the dead scientists and the other devices. Also, shouldn't there be a massive concentration of CSAT around the dome when they invade, since presumably they knew that's where the device was?

Yeah, I expected to atleast find some real answers there. But we only got a confirmation of what we already knew- the device is connected to earthquakes. xbladecz 48 Posted April 1, 2014 I really like this ending. You make it or you don't. This is war. :) No, Arma is not about war, it's about it's simulation. But in this early stage, AI is so dumb, there should definitely be some saves. Teammates are literally enemies. For instance, I found HMG Hunter, Fuel Tempest and Repair Tempest in this mission and decided to took them with me. I used squad from construction yard as gunner and others as drivers. Those drivers are constantly damaging those cars, especially when driving through town or avoiding obstacles on the road. Oh, they are not avoiding them at all, they are unable to break safely. I saw them stuck on the wall with all wheels spinning, quite funny to see, but then you feel desperate in this mission, because they are not helping at all. They actually managed to kill me once, yes my mistake leaving driver in truck and scouting horizon. It was 2 hour carefull gameplay, scouting with nighstalker, sniping enemy squads. btw playing on expert
Variable 322 Posted April 1, 2014 I got a little trick for moving fast through the minefield. Drive through it using the new CSAT transport truck you can find on the research base. It's pretty much blast protected. If you approach from the south of the isolated team you can get in, get them aboard, and get back to the south. It's a close call, my truck had "red" engine by the time we got back from all the mines that detonated. Have your repair specialist repair it once you are back on the road and continue the mission. soapsurfer 12 Posted April 2, 2014 No, Arma is not about war, it's about it's simulation. Well, I think this is quite some war on Altis. :p
xarieq 1 Posted April 3, 2014 So after saving NATO guys and stealing a AAF helicopter then losing tail rotor at the swamp after then after long trip through the south eastern side of Altis I managed to find a IFV then a helicopter. After that I decided to find any remaining side missions after flying almost around the whole Island I haven't found any side missions no radio messages only war bellow me (biggest battles that I saw were at the Airport and Pyrgos). The last thing that I thought that could been implemented was some other clues like checking diffrent research sites (one near the airport another at the Pyrgos military base nothing unfortunetly), I tried to find Akhanteros (AAF commander) at the AAF airport at the airport to the North East nothing too, After that I gave up on my search and I decided to fly away. It quite a good experience and even though some explaination could have been given apart from the seismic board.(And Btw have you guys noticed the device assembly sound in ZEUS?) DJankovic 401 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Anyone manage to escape from altis??? Or it is maked like that so there is no way exept die? And if u did how? small explain with SPOILER thingy. Second thing. I played Episode 3 and evrything was great i realy like it evry mission until end is near..first thing that bothered me was Episode 1 & 2 have like 10-12missions if i am not wrong, and Ep. 3 only 6-7 WTF?? And there was 2 months from Ep.2 to Ep.3 So plenty of time... Now for the ending i chosed to go with NATO and i finished mission and CREDITS... Damn..i was disapointed..i canceled credits and boom another mission yeeyyy... played it..it was little bit cool :) But then i wanted to know what happen with Miller then i replayed the mission where i chose to go after miller and bam i stole a truck and got it to miller now there goes CREDITS.. and Game Over mission..tryed it few times Died(No save for me) It was cool in beggining because it was ofc last mission either you survive and escape or die :) but now i want to finish it but evry time i get killed at some point...didnt know about unlimited saves got to check it out :) So that is my opinion..TO SHORT. I WANT EP.4 Remove Campaign COMPLETED :D :D Edited April 7, 2014 by DevilDogCro
mistyronin 1181 Posted April 7, 2014 Anyone manage to escape from altis??? Or it is maked like that so there is no way exept die? And if u did how? small explain with SPOILER thingy. I grabbed an offroad, took the americans from the construction building, then took a truck, went to save the mad people in the swamp ( using the engineer first to detect and deactivate mines, and the rest at my back in file formation ). Then took the AAF base nearby ( only defended by 4 or 5 AAF ), took the helo and fly to the sunset ( eventually if you fly away from the island you complete the mission ). End. airborne_hk 0 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Anyone manage to escape from altis??? Or it is maked like that so there is no way exept die? And if u did how? small explain with SPOILER thingy. I'm so frustrated about this mission because most of the time the CSATs could kill you in the 1st few shots even at 300m away! Anyway, after dying countless times and retrying for a WHOLE week, I finally successfully escaped with all side missions completed. I'll try to describe in details for how to do it: Wait until all the dialogues end. An earthquake will knock off the door of the nearby offroad. Hop in and drive to the research base. The 1st side mission will be triggered: Instead of going towards the base, drive around and go to the outpost further south, where you found James in the previous mission. Bravo 2-1 will call in but just ignore them for the time being. Take the Zafir 7.62 from the body on the middle of the road and replaced the scope with RCO (took it off from the MX first). Try to pop the CSATs inside the base from there. Beware the AT solider because once they are alerted he will run outside the base and would try to flank you if he see you. After all 4 defenders are killed, go to the dome. Before entering it, peek inside through the windows of the entrance to check the 2 CSATs. Make sure they are neither near nor facing the door. Keep prone while open the door and kill both CSATs quickly. If they are not seen, be patient and wait until they are in LOS. Take the Nightstalker (this monster has NV & thermal capability with x5-25 scope!) from the officer's rifle and replace the RCO. There is a Tempest transport truck near the dome. Drive it to the NATO survivors. 2nd & 3rd side mission: Saving the NATO survivors is just a walk in the park. Take them with your truck (Remember: always be the driver yourself). Now here is the tricky part. From now on try to avoid driving on the roads or you may run into enemy patrols. Go a bit north and then turn to the west. After a while the FIAs will call for help. Then go around to avoid any major towns and facilities. You can go back to the roads once you reach the west side of the swamp. Keep following the road until you reach the south of the FIAs. Change to File formation and go to them from there. Once the FIAs join in, return through the same route and ask everyone board the truck as passengers. Now you can go to the heliport east of the swamp or the port further east. Either one, order your teammates to hold fire first or they would open fire prematurely. If go for the helipad, continue drive east (do NOT branch north) until you reach south of it. Now form Line, ordering every one to go prone and move north. Check with your scope in thermal mode from time to time to watch the enemies activity. Stop at about 250-300m. Once you're ready, ask everyone to open fire. Once the defenders are cleared. Take the helicopter and fly straight to east. If you choose to go for the port or there is no helicopter (that's my case), start from the same spot and do the same trick as above, but go south this time. However, the speedboat only able to hold 3 persons. Meaning only two of your teammates can come with you... cruel world! Nevertheless, you're safe. Hope this could help. five_seven5-7 56 Posted April 9, 2014 i tried to use the north airport but with no success, I was caught by a Mora and saw AAF and CSAT firing against each other PS: Why we can not continue with the chosen weapons from Paradise Lost?
coolts 0 Posted April 9, 2014 BIS producers. The next time one of the mission designers runs over to you and says, "hey, I've got a great idea to add tension to this mission!! Lets disable SAVES". Please take a large wet fish, such as a cod or sea bass, and slap them repeatedly over the face shouting "NO NO NO NO, get back to your desk". Wasting the precious time of players repeating the same mission areas because we cant save does NOT add tension. Frustration? Yes. Anger? Yes, Resentment? Yes. At least give us the option. To anyone who thinks that disabling saves is a good idea, all I can say is MANIC MINER!!! ps. Does anyone know what the mission file is called so I can edit it and play from the editor. No more self flagellation for me today. I can save or I don't play.
