I don't know which fuel explosions were tweaked and how, but every destroyed vehicle in car class is still lethal up to 10m, even ones without fuel or ammo. (Except karts). :(

Or how about, you know, almost no fuel explosions ever again.

Who's with me?

Definitely with you on this one.

And my axe!

And my sword.

( although tanker and ammo trucks could have a nice BANG )

The strange thing is that the car explodes out of gas :nono:. Well the quadbike again exploit the beast but with harm reduction :pet13:, return the fireworks.:angryfire::y::yikes:

  • ATTENTION THIS CAN CHANGE IN A FUTURE ARMA :thumb:

Yes, I would prefer there be almost no fuel explosion too.

in favor of fuel explosions only if you actually hit the fuel tank ...

Compiled by Pettka while Master Lord Joris evaluates potential vehicle handling improvements.

stop playing with our dreams :cry2::803:

That won't make the vehicle explode. Vehicles don't explode because of fuel (unless they are fuel trucks).

well why do you think they explode at all if its not fuel? Tracer /incendiary rounds ignite fuel.

Tracers ignite the fuel only* when the fuel pours out of the tank, and when the fuel ignites it's hardy a deadly explosion.

*= Yeah yeah, I know it's possible to blow up a gas tank but it's extremely rare and still not as deadly as in Arma.

If cars ONLY explode with hit by tracer rounds and ONLY when there is actually lots of fuel in the tank, and the explosion is more of deflagration that burns (rather than the current 120mm HE shell going off), I could tolerate it.

That won't make the vehicle explode. Vehicles don't explode because of fuel (unless they are fuel trucks).

In fact fuel trucks explode because of the gas compressed in the fuel tank, even Diesel when becomes gas is explosive.

The ammo vehicles, for obvious reasons.

And the others if hit in the fuel deposit ( which is really rare ) can burn completely, this doesn't usually happen; unless the whole vehicle is burning and the fuel becomes gas which is even more and more rare vehicles don't explode, although the fire can leave the vehicle as if it has exploded ( usually fuel leaks and burn ).

REVISITED: A gas tank will explode when shot by a bullet. (From Episode 15)

BUSTED

It has already been proven that when shot by a normal bullet a gasoline tank will not explode. However, if a gasoline tank is shot by a tracer round from a great enough distance so that the round can ignite with air friction, it will cause the gasoline to catch fire. By the time this happened the tank was so riddled with bullets (from previous tracers that were fired too close to ignite) that there was no contained pressure, but the MythBusters surmised that had the tank been properly enclosed, it may have exploded; but overall it remains extremely improbable.

You guys just have no appreciation for the Micheal Bay school of media entertainment.

Warning. Slightly NSFW and unsuitable for those disliking gratuitous special effects not based in real life.

I turned off damage for some of the vehicles in one of my missions, not just because the AI would trash the vehicles, but because the occupants could still be shot. It gave a more realistic experience when the vehicle gets ripped apart by a static MG and you die without a big explosion.

A vehicle certainly shouldn't explode just because it has hit a rock. (Unless it is carrying unstable explosive).

When I have seen vehicles burning the only explosions I have seen have been the tyres blowing out. If fuel has leaked out it just causes a big pool of fire on the ground underneath the vehicle.

Thanks for the Sharpen filter. Now SMAA looks better than FXAA because you can add sharpen for both!

The problem is not the explosions of vehicles but the sequence in which they should reproduce the effects.

EXAMPLE OF SEQUENCE

  1. vehicle is hit on deposit, damage system arma3

  • Orange = effect smokescreen

  • Red = effect flares in vehicle

I have actually seen a car explode IRL when I was a kid. I don't know how it happened but I was playing outside when a car pulled up to the intersection next to our house. It had to stop there. When it tried to drive on the engine suddenly cought fire. Moments later an explosion threw the hood 5 meters up in the air. The car burned out completely with another explosion when the fire engulfed the rear of the car. Fueltank must have been under too much pressure. The driver got out without a scratch. So yeah it is possible for cars to explode...

For fire or explosion to occur, there must be a certain mix of oxygen and fuel vapor. Liquid cannot ignite. Only the fumes from the liquid can ignite. A full tank is therefore more safe than a tank with just fumes in it. The former will not explode, but the latter may explode if the mixture is perfect.

I really liked how ACE 2 worked with fires and explosions. Sometimes when you hit a tank or a car even if it didn't result into an explosion you could see smoke and a small fire that developed .

I really miss ACE for Arma 3 :(

Cool. Now, how devastating was its blast to the surroundings?

Spawned vehicles have recently appeared on roof more often. Shouldnt have been any changes in mission side for that. Just placing them with 0 height, but those vehicle seem to jump randomly to air and fall on side or roof.
