The Unsung MOD (Vietnam War) Arma 2 Release

I hear that the AI can't cheat and see you through thick grass in this mod? Is any of this true and if so, how did you do it? Would it work on other maps like cherno or would prone soldiers be almost invisible to other AIs?

If the rumour is true then you guys should definitely talk to BIS before they finish arma 3, because at the moment you can't have a good forest battle with the AI without turning grass off:(

Ok bit of an update on the sound side of things yes we were listening ......

well, reading your comments posted here.... :cool:.

Noticed a lot of you were complaining about release 2.1 gun sounds :rolleyes: .. Well I have gone back through and changed em again ... here is a preview of what to expect in release 2.5

hey guys.

i've dl this mod, but it is damn laggy.

it looks like when i play zargabad (which is fucking laggy too)

my cfg:

quad core q9550

4go of ram

gtx 570

asus p5q pro

any idea of where it can com from?

is it the same for you?

You maybe have to sacrifice some graphics settings, but with the right light filter and effects it can still look good. Also i would set a view distance of about 400/600. Should make things run a bit better....

Its up to Geloxo but thats the plan he has joined unsung as an independent and continues work on his island, where hopefully he will make use some of our new foliage.

Yes , if all goes well :)

I'm running e6700 2.6ghz ? core 2 duo, gtx 260 , 2 gig ram and I'm getting average 22 - 30 FPS

Tip for ya all , set VD to 500 you don't need much more than that in the jungle , add fog to approx shown in video (looks cool and adds to atmosphere) turn terrain detail to low , with that much foliage on the screen you wont miss the small details in when you have it on high.

Still not enough then maybe try to defrag your HDD use IOBIT game booster 3 if you want and then tell me how you go.

Downloaded this for the first time (i find time for ARMA about once every 8 weeks :( which is sad) and i must say well done, as has already been noted the sounds are too weak but from the video when there done its going to be immense.

Hats off to you sir!

One question though, how to i get the voices like in the video or are they something new that is coming out?

Can you check the weights on your mags and weapons, they do not seem to be adding much, if at all, to the weight of the loadout. If you guys need another hand around there I would be willing to help you guys out as well. That's right, I wouldn't mind volunteering to do what I can with your team. I think I seen you guys need help here or your forums.

There is no weight in arma2 by default. If you are refering to ACE2 weight, just use my ACE compact addon, with that you will have more realistic weights and working bipods for some mg ^^.

I'd suggest taking a look at the config file in your documents/arma 2 showing all the parameters like resolution and such, and where it says:

GPU_MaxFramesAhead="x";
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead="y";

I know for a fact mine said by default 1000 and 3 respectively in x and y, and i got lots of stutter, especially on zargabad as you mentioned.

I'd recommend trying "1" on both, with the quotation marks, because i get almost no stutter with them set up like that, only on rare occasions. I could be wrong and be sth else entirely, but give it a shot.

We at FHW had a VERY nice long COOP/PvP-hybrid mission this sunday.

It was awesome.

Just two things: please remove that duplicate smokeshells from the uns_throw weapon - it causes an error message every frame and spammed our server.rpt to some 370 MB after one round, killing performance.

Just use both the standard throw and the uns_throw weapons on your soldiers instead.

Also, please move your grenade fix you call on unit init to an external script, 'cause it's sleep command won't work during init. This also spams the .rpts and of course the intended fix doesn't work too.

Still: great mod, one of my favourites :D

At the shortcut command line type this when you play the game with A2+OA

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2oa.exe" -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=0

or

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=0

when play only Arma2

Nice work on the phantoms, and I'm excited to hear that there are sampans/other boats.

The Special Forces should get some RHIBs, and definently F-5s. The NVA need Mig-15s, and some mi24s.

Also the South Vietnamese forces and the NVA/Guerrillas absolutely must have those Nazi WWII weapons that the russians supplied them with (Lugers, MP40s, StG-44s, MG-34s and MG-42s)

But I love progress.

@Chaingunfighter where did you get that NVA were flying MiG-15 and Mi24 during Vietnam War and all this BS about "the NVA/Guerrillas absolutely must have those Nazi WWII weapons"? :rolleyes:

IIRC the Mi24 were used in the Cambodian-Vietnames War (1978-1989). MiG-15 were used in Korean War but were replaced and MiG-17, MiG-19 and the famous MiG-21 were used during Vietnam era.

Are armed with MK82 Snakeyes,MK 117 GP bombs, AIM9L Sidewinder and AIM 7 Sparrow missiles.

Overhead is also SUU23 Gun POD and ALQ-87 and ALQ-101 ECM pods.

Of models I work alone so they understand it will take some time to.

MiG-15's were flown around in recon some times during the earliest parts of the war. And I meant to say Mi-4, but I got confused. And I got the idea of them must having because the Russians supplied them thousands throughout the war, so I think it is necessary to have them.

Well the truth is we are waiting on a key member to give the rest of the team the files we need to move forward. Unfortunately he is a busy guy with RL issues and we are still waiting. Back when we announced the next patch we didn't foresee this being an issue. Work is progressing just a lot slower than expected.

Ok time for a quick update....

We finally received the files we need and work is now progressing with our next release.

Also , Drow the founder of the unsung way back in the OFP days has returned and is opted to help out updating some of our outdated textures. Also our scripter SSD has been released from the Hanoi Hilton after a 2 year stay and has rejoined the team too :)

Work is progressing but at this stage no ETA on release date .However, the next release should be something to look forward to with a few new additions to our line up and more major fixes to our mod so stay tuned.
