berghoff 11 Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) African foliage for ArmA II Latest version: v1.23 This addon contains 34 usable models that can be used too create a vast desert, savanna or jungle. The addon was previously released for ArmA in a un-finished state but now I have ported it over to ArmA II and completed all models that were in prior releases. I want to thank Icebreakr for testing the foliage on his nice Isla Duala. But also check out these beautiful islands: Download v1.23 ---> Click me! Looking back I came a long way but now I must put the tree carving tools to rest finally. I just don't find the time nor motivation anymore these days and looking at the quality of the foliage these days It doesn't matter anymore. Now I can actually focus on playing games =). Have a nice safari and/or fun designing terrains! :D Edited March 24, 2011 by Berghoff Added link to v1.23

bushlurker 46 Posted December 1, 2009 Hi Berghoff!!! Great to see you back in action!! Any plans to revamp that excellent Nordic trees pack I seem to remember from OFP days ? :) B
miller 49 Posted December 1, 2009 Cool Berghoff for ArmA 2, thanks for great work ArmA2Base.de Mirror: African Foliage for ArmA 2 by Berghoff Kind regards Miller
icebreakr 3157 Posted December 1, 2009 Berghoff thank you for your hard work, I absolutely love your pack and Isla Duala just wouldn't be the same without your vegetation. As Maruk posted that Arrowhead is still months away I will use A1 desert assets to complete the major settlements to a size that BHD-style/patrol missions will be possible. Of course, Berghoff's work will be seen in towns and mostly all over the savannah ;)
mcpxxl 2 Posted December 2, 2009 NICE... and i bet not soo much polys :-)
.kju 3244 Posted December 2, 2009 It'd be nice to get a performance comparison or some faces/sections/ResLOD numbers. After all vegetation is the key performance trigger. Thanks!

berghoff 11 Posted December 2, 2009 Does the viewblock work? Yes. If not it is a bug =). this is useful just for map makers, right? Yes it is. Any plans to revamp that excellent Nordic trees pack I seem to remember from OFP days ? Don't we already have excellent trees made by BIS? I have created a few tree models for CWR already. But can't really match the quality of Linda generated trees. :)
icebreakr 3157 Posted December 2, 2009 Well, I have very dense jungle on the map on E side and a lot of savannah shrubs, bushes, trees all over the map and we get 50-60 FPS on a mid-range PC :)
vilas 477 Posted December 2, 2009 thanx to Berghoff addons we had so much great islands in OFP :) and once again thanx , now new islands will appear with your trees , as in OFP days :) great useful job for islandmakers

bushlurker 46 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) Any plans to revamp that excellent Nordic trees pack I seem to remember from OFP days ? Don't we already have excellent trees made by BIS? I have created a few tree models for CWR already. But can't really match the quality of Linda generated trees @Planck... hehe - indeed - the BIS "northern/nordic" trees are excellent... I'm using them myself right now on my island...My query was actually part of a subtle 2-part question... if I'd had a "hmmm... maybe" reply, I was going to follow it up with a "any chance you could manage a basic selection of trees with SNOW on the branches?" - there seems to be quite a few requests for a snowy island, but with no snowy buildings or trees it's not easy to make it look convincing... Some basic "snowy vegetation" from the acknowledged master of all things tree-related would delight quite a few people I think... LJF 0 Posted March 1, 2010 I'm not sure where to report bugs, so I'll stick them here for now. A few of the trees (the green ones) don't cast shadows and have no collisions for the trunks, yet they do for the leaves. These are: brg_umbrella_acacia02b brg_umbrella_acacia02b brg_umbrella_acacia03b I also had some trouble with "brg_umbrella_acacia_new01", but I can't remember what specifically went wrong. Great pack by the way, very nice stuff :)
icebreakr 3157 Posted March 1, 2010 Also some trees allow planes/chopper to fly through their top? But I'm not sure which ones?
LJF 0 Posted March 1, 2010 Also some trees allow planes/chopper to fly through their top? But I'm not sure which ones? Yeah, I managed to land a chopper on the trunk of one of the larger ones, sideways that is :D
