And I also noted the low shade of the end of a grassfield. That can also destroy the good athmophere which is created on such fantastic vegetation. Maybe its possible to made a better shade and enlarge the ending of the grassfields. But keep it up BIS. Also thanks for the entries and declarations of the developement process. Yes i also think that there should be a better solution for drawing of distant grass. The current way (as you show in the screenshot) of Grass for "X-Meters" around the player and then a simple texture is bad. There should be a more smother transition at least, or even better the ground-texture should have the color of the grass. Yeb 0 Posted May 14, 2008 It seems we finally get rid of the rusty wrecks once the vehicles get destroyed (the screenshot is ugly though ), it is rather a confirmation as in older videos, there were no longer rusty wrecks. And we can see some nice backpacks (with some features related to? just a guess...). By seeing the landscapes, it's way much better than arma: ofp feelings. There are one thing i do not like in sahrani, it's the south, in my opinion, it is way too colourful and pretty (is it a war zone?) and the transition between the north and the south of sahrani totally ruins the immersion (transition between a spanish/arabic south and a east european north). But Chernarus looks awesome by the screens, it looks like a realistic environnement (it is in fact), a war zone, and when you look at the face of the characters, you know it's serious business. Maybe it could be a good thing to make them look a bit more special.. looking at the dudes a bit more closer i hope the bright green is toned town a little bit. Other than that some great stuff! Hmm i dunno the characters in ofp got their special character feeling through cutscenes with audio speech and dialogues. smellyjelly 0 Posted May 14, 2008 Yeah, I noticed that the green is a bit bright/bland also. The lighting is very disapointing because I was really hoping for a improvement. It doesn't even have to be dynamic, GTAIV didn't have shadows for peopleor objects, but the headlights still didn't go through buildings. For Arma II that is perfectly acceptable in my opinion, but honestly, how it's shown now, is not. I did notice a few other things though. In the screenshot with the burning car, the fire is actually bright. It looks much better than Arma where the fire has no bloom to it. Also, in the picture with the night vision, the grass looks bad, though the latest developers blog would have me convinced they've redone the grass to make it look better. I guess that it may just be an old screenshot then. Finally, in the last screenshot with the destroyed buildings, (which looks awesome by the way), there appears to be a fire in the background. The only weapon where it would be very visible is the M249 and where does the screenshot end? Just before the front grip. I can tell by the screens that the animations are the same from Arma, but maybe they will change them later on (who knows? ). Arma was to pretty and colourful. one could play it to 'get away from the city' but this looks much more intense, wartorn and realistic But.... 5 Men? What! thats not war, thats a game of paintball. Please dont turn this into a 5 men vs the world game. personally i hate all that Ghost recon stuff, because i believe that a war is fought with armies not some special ops team who Nail everything and claim that they always kick ass. I mean, in Arma you were totally alone within the campaign - sure there were often alot of other AI players fighting on your side, and the same would be also happen at Arma2 i guess. So who cares? A truely immersive experience where players work as a combined force against the AI or indeed other co-operative and mature players. 2. A complete farse where players are running wild, blowing up friendly vehicles, killing friendly players, going Lone soldier, not working as a team. Guess which one is more common.. Number two. So the Game should not be only based on Multiplayer because often the immersion i get from playing single player is better than playing single player (Unless i play online with a clan) I think i must admit something here, i never played past the third mission in the Arma campaign Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
