I know its a demo but how long is this in development? - Was it so dificult to retexture A-10?! Some things i notice: - Grass on Malden = large fps drop - Random crashes What i dislike: - 1:1 ports form OFP (M60, Jeep, LAW..) whit hidius low quality textures from ofp. - still no T-80, Hind :P - M1A1, M113, T-72 form ArmA whit no additional/new content cant feel the 80's style where is the red star?! - Grass on Malden... They have the rest of "OFP" in the works, this is supposed to only have the units that was in the official OFP-demo. I think this demo is a good idea as we now can play on Malden until the whole package comes out. I do agree about the yellow grass thou, would prefer it more white-grey-brown.. But I'm happy! We did that to match the yellowish ground texture, believe me the sahrani gras looks even worse on there. the_shadow 0 Posted December 24, 2007 only one question... how the heck do i start it with kegetys arma launcher together with other mods? i tried to start it as a normal mod folder but as soon as i tried to preview a mission in the editor (no other addons then the CWR stuff used) on malden i got a instans CTD... also... WHY do you use the old OFP sounds on the weapons? i understand you want to make it exactly as ofp but please... cant you atleast make it an improved OFP? so it´s like what OFP should have been when it was first released but with the things (the hardware, models and stuff you know) that we actualy had in OFP? it´s a very nice peace of work but.. it still holds the same amount of bugs as OFP did when it was first released (or maybe even more), but i accapt that since i understand you rusched the release of the demo despite numerous new bugs that where found after the 1.09 beta patch was out... i have no illusions that you wont fix all the problems to the full release though, this is as stated only a DEMO! now, merry x-mas to all of you and take a good few days vacation atleast until the next year Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

andersson 285 Posted December 24, 2007 When playing Skirmish I got this errormessage. I'm using 1.09b Fun to play that mission again. Your own group die quite fast, and then you have to jump between the buildings. If this was a arma mission I would probably feel more frustrated, but as its a OFP mission I somehow accept it better But to finally reach that LAW and blast the BMP made my day! Memories.. At the point at which I am asked to leave the road and head into the trees in Ambush, I have a CTD. About 5 mins into the other mission in Houdan, I have a crash usually just as I am about to get close to the buildings themselves. Everywhere else is fine and beautiful. - I also have the problem where the M113 just sits and does nothing in the intro sequence, while the checkpoint stands guard unaffected. Have to say, though, can you do something about the Porto grass? It's absolutely murderous, and seems to both be more dense and stretch for a far longer distance than any of the others. I wonder if there can be a lowplants version released incorporating this, because right now it can take anything up to 15-20fps off the top, compared to regular ArmA (and the other vegetation - the trees and bushes - are far less dense). Cannon Fodder 0 Posted December 24, 2007 It's lowplants (and consequently the addition of Queen's Gambit). All my crashes were fixed by not using lowplants. I can now play both missions OK (just did some testing). Got past the crashing bit in Ambush etc. The problem now being how the hell do I run this smoothly without the benefit of the normal maps being removed and the horrendous Porto grass? I suppose I could disable grass but that's one of the main benefits of ArmA... I could put it on low but it's still far more dense than anything else in the whole of ArmA... Still, the is an excellent job guys - very well done. I just wish there was some way I could make use of lowplants. I haven't 'recompiled' since the upgrading to the beta and installing the CWR demo. Could it make a difference if I 'installed' lowplants again? Is anybody else running with lowplants without crashes? I can't be the only one, surely? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
stainer 0 Posted December 24, 2007 Fantastic release guys, had a bit of trouble with the Ambush mission, however it's very easy just to port the original OFP version over. The yellow grass IMO looks like heather and suits Malden perfectly, however I do think it might be impacting performance. One other minor problem is that when boarding the jeep, the first passenger enters the seat behind the driver, not next to the driver as might be expected. Planck Yes, I use kegetys lowplant/ durgs veg-fix and a couple of islands (I have all my islands and lowplants/durgs veg-fix in the same modfolder). I cant see anything there that would give this error (but then again, TIA). My main addonfolder is clean. But I opened up the mission and there is nothing about a jpg.. It must be on my end.. This Is Arma A Q, is the voices from Elite? I will use them in my "normal" arma!! edit: It would be nice to have a database with converted missions. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

ArmA (without QG) 1.09 beta with mods: MatH_ArmaEffects 6th Sense TrueMods (some of them) FDF_Sound Sprintfix DrugsVegetationFix LowPlants (WITHOUT the grass fix so QG isn't needed ... even if it will not have any effect on the CW-Islands) Like others said, performance is a bit low ... something like LowPlants for CWR would be nice. And the drawing of the grass goes very far. I think it is good, that it is "just" a port so all the effect and Ai mods should still work with it. THX again for the work. wipman 1 Posted December 24, 2007 Hi, i've downloaded now the demo and i still have to try it with more deep; but it loads; i get a error message telling me that "you need ArmA 1.09" which now is just a Beta patch with a Hotfix that keeps giving lots of problems to many players. And after pass that error message... i get this one: And then in the editor when i try to place an M1A1 in the map: The grass is really weird, it's colour; in Chernovil they could have that kind of weed, but i don't know where else. The vests of the yankees have the back as distorted, the ripp stop cells are banked upwards in diagonal and the camo pattern don't matches on the sides. And there're some other few things, but man... the OFP Editor menu wasn't so pixelated; i don't miss the 2D wheel on that damn UGGLY willys and if don't were sad; i'll had laugh when i seen all the yankee units equiped with russian grenades and (again) without have all the equipment slots filled.
