Quote[/b] ]It´s the downsizing that makes the screens look that awesome - due to more pic info stored in smaller space or something like that.

Correct

Quote[/b] ]I have an XFX 8800 GTX and a Gateway 24" HD monitor and my settings are set at 1920X1200, but I don't have the level of detail you do in your pics and all my settings are on very high....is there that much difference in 1920X1200 and 2560X1600?

2560x1600 has more detail for me than 1920x1200 and my setting are maxed out as well with the exception of the post processing (set to low b/c everything looks sharper). i think PP just blurs everything to much for me.

Miles, I'm sure we can help each other out, we are a community of developers striving for the same goal. Signup over at our forums and we will give you access to ACE. Also send you’re two other devs over as well and we will square them away too.

We are pretty much open to anyone that wants to contribute/participate in ACE, it is after all a community project.

We have a lot to do, bringing ACE up to WGL standards is not an easy task. A lot of our guys are from other mods that are helping out as much as the can, PROPER Mod, TrueMod, 6thSense are just some off hand I can think of.  Also not all of our guys are strickly developers, we also have web devs, military advisors, researchers, graphic designers...etc..etc..

Our overall goal is to change the face of ArmA as WGL did for OFP, this isn't an easy objective. The amount of work that is put into developing a new type of system is quite demanding, so any help that is offered we gladly accept it. It's been an ongoing nightly basis working till 4am, I can speak only for myself but I get an average of 2-4 hours sleep. (Bleeping kids)

For instance we are working on several systems ranging from a new Stamina System to a fully functional AAR (After Actions Report) tool. Some features have not been seen in ArmA so we are also pioneering into unknown territory as well.

In addition we are also importing and converting a lot of things from WGL including some of the unreleased islands from OFP, those need to be reworked and brought up to current standards. We are quitely working in the backround with little time for PR, trying to complete this massive task. Make no mistake you will see us BEFORE ArmA 2 is released.

I am curious the soldier found here at this previous link Soldiers

Are the already in the game (Vanilla or QG) or are they going to be part of this release?

Those units are the USMC recon units that will be released with the mod.

This won't require QG will it?

For the moment atleaset ACE requires only v1.09b. However I don't understand why people keep complaining about QG as a requirement. It's an official BI expansion, and anyone looking to stay up to date with addon/mod releases should just fork out the $30AUD for it (whether they deem it worthwhile or not). More and more addons/mods (especially islands) will have QG as a requirement. It's like people still asking if/why Resistance is a requirement for OFP stuff, it came out in 2002. wink_o.gif

Well if anyone is like me, they don't think the $30-$40 is worth it for what is essentially a few new unit models, an island, and according to some, a quite sub-par campaign.

Resistance was a different story, that was actually a worthy expansion with an unforgettable campaign. What I'm saying is that what BI did with QG, could've been done by a few forum members for free. If BI had released it as a free addon, yeah sure kudos. But $30-$40 is a bit of a rip off.

Anyways, don't want to steer this off topic, so what can we expect in the first release?

However I don't understand why people keep complaining about QG as a requirement.

Maybe people dont like QG because it adds another 900mb of data to load in ArmA just for some units and objects.

Or because the loading screens are butt ugly ...

I could even imagine that bugs introduced with QG have something to do with it (glowing medic, technicals write themselves into every mission.sqm ..).

I own QG, but please don´t make ACE dependant on QG, it´s not worth it.

It's like people still asking if/why Resistance is a requirement for OFP stuff, it came out in 2002. wink_o.gif

edit: Resistance brought new gfx features and other hardcode stuff. QG is only a modfolder! .. with a price tag lol

Don't know why some ppl. don't like additional things from QG... maybe they only like to moan & complain? Is it "worth" to make extra non-QG versions??

Anyway, ACE hopefully will be one of the best Mods in ArmA wink_o.gif

I don't think QG is worth the $30-$40 all it adds is a few new units and a couple new Islands and a okay but better than original campaign. While Resistance on the other hand and new textures, a kickass campaign, new things that the original OFP couldn't do, and female civilians.

I dont have and have no good reason to purchase QG. Lets hope we keep everything available for vanilla ArmA. QG is (as someone said) a mod folder with a price tag.

Hey I'm just saying what everyone was thinking. If it wasn't for Resistance Everon would've been no different than jail.

Hi, for those who think QG isnt worth the €17 (thats 30AUS$ right now) should wait or look around some longer, since the pricedrop and used boxes will come sooner or later...

i remember seeing resistance just a year later for under €10 in some electronicsstore... no warez though!

I have an additional ARMA copy for my server, bought it for less than €10 on ebay... works fine and even if its without manual or such...

used DVDs for ARMA or QG can also be bought cheaper at the local videorental, since they are "used"

I did a Google search for ACE mod to see if any sites had some info on it and found that they now have an official site. I'm surprised none of the ACE guys posted this yet

http://ace.usmc-warriors.org/

And any updates on the Sim HQ review?
