imutep 0 Posted February 2, 2007 Wow...the Deinonychus looks awesome. Great job
Avimimus 0 Posted February 2, 2007 A bit of a different variant, a WIP of our DeinonychusThese where one of the biggest raptor species, and very deadly. http://img257.imageshack.us/img257....MG] Btw. this is one of the most beautiful renditions of this animal (Deinonychus) that I have seen. The problem with this whole speed issue is more pratically how do we get an animal to stalk or ambush its prey? I remember that the inconsistent behaviour, slowness of the "velociraptor" in the OFP demo. Is there any work around to do a LOS check in AA? It might be possible to have the animal teleport (setpos) to a position behind the player when the player stops looking at it. The ability it has to do this could be set up in scripts so that a mission maker could place triggers which provide different levels of teleporting ability to the animals (so it could be turned off or varied with the part of a mission or even the type of foliage in the triggers area). Does anyone have other ideas (other than taking a house cats brain and...)?
general 0 Posted February 3, 2007 does it beat this? http://files.turbosquid.com/Preview....rge.jpg I know it's no Deinonychus but still... it's awsome and no, it's no animatronic reconstruction or something like that
max power 21 Posted February 3, 2007 Meh, that's just boilerplate high definition 3d dinosaur stuff. I actually like these Lost World ones better. They seem more anitomically interesting and their colouration is nicer.
smiley nick 51 Posted February 3, 2007 Thanks for the feedback/comments to the Deinonychus We cannot really compare or try to match 3d renders created in a very high poly environment, as well as all the fancy rendering software you can get these days. The dinos will be as good looking as possible, but we are also retaining a "real looking" aspect, they wont be over done with effects, to make them look too "polished and un natural" They will have the appearance of a more "flesh and blood" type look. In regards to how we are going to get the dinosaurs to attack ect. This is a hot topic in the team, but we are very confident we can bring a new "interaction" to them, from the previous workaround. Ever been run over by a car in arm a? Thats the same process we are taking, im sure some of you can start figuring it out. Because of the nature, our scripts will be very specific, to each species, so you can expect to see character like effects for certain dinosaurs, as there will be no "universal" attack for the same dinosaurs. Due to the nature of the species the raptors will of course be more intelligent, working in packs, communicating, and hunting effects such as stalking, or trying to single out a single dinosaurs from a heard ect. As well as more "urban" object interaction But as for the whole "how are we going to get the dinosaurs to attack and hunt", i can say its all covered, and by the time of release, you will literary be running for your life Keep the talks up chaps, its good to get feedback, and any ideas, throw our way. sniperuk02 0 Posted February 3, 2007 I think the mods on looks more sleek and agressive than the rendered one.

Nick (models are subject to change) The quality of the graphics is not due to the engine. I have seen software that looks much better at low resolution or CGA instead of VGA for that matter. It is what it is designed for and how it is created, the art, that matters. The AA animal looks better to me in many respects (texture style, anatomy) than most renditions. So long as I can be a hipsilophodontid (eg. dryosaur in OFP demo) I am happy. If you can get the animals to actually work...

smiley nick 51 Posted February 7, 2007 Work has started on some of our animations, some of you might remember this one http://tombremer.com/tmp/Breakout_animation_WIP_v002.mov You will need a "mov" player, either quicktime, or VLC, which plays anything, grab it here http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Nick
Shins 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Awesome man. I can't wait for this mod. You planning an 'open' kind of release where you release bits of stuff as you finish it or are you only going to release once /everything/ is done? I only ask 'cos so many ambitious mods never see a release, even though there's good stuff to be had (That Aliens Dropship from Neph springs to mind )
-SWAT- 1 Posted February 7, 2007 Nice Dilophosaurus... can we feed him?

Avimimus 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Nice Dilophosaurus... can we feed him? you are his meal Time to eat (not a hipsilophodontid but still worth of attention): Anyway I love the jaw, especially the muscles on the Dilophosaur. I am hoping for a version which has the current dorsal pattern extended to cover the entire top area in a dappled pattern (imagine this thing moving under patchs of light in the forest...) and another one with a red, blue and yellow crest for the rutting season... Regardless of my daydreaming it is almost as beautiful as the skeleton it coats. If your animator and artist want me to double check any movements or anatomy let me know (what's already being done looks top quality though and more realistic than most dinoart). smiley nick 51 Posted February 8, 2007 Awesome man. I can't wait for this mod. We are setting up quite a unique system, allowing us to release "singular" addons acting like "Plugins" to the core mod scripts. Such as single dinosaurs in the future ect. However, we are aiming for a highly polished and manageable demo,to give the player a fantastic introduction to the mod and to the story plot Don't worry, i have spent too much money to allow this modification to fold away Nick
nephilim 0 Posted February 8, 2007 money? interesting you havent brought up that topic yet on msn
