Finnish defence forces mod 1.0 released!

hey can someone please help. i updated my geforce 4 driver and the mod still causes my computer to restart when i launch it. sad_o.gif

We solved few this kind of problems with simply uninstalling whole OFP and FDF mod.

Then install them both back again and it might work again.

The ability to edit while in MP is great! biggrin_o.gif

I love the Trasnport Plane, (Sorry can premember the name, Piper Cheiftan was it?). It's really good.

Althought the AI doesn't seem to trip the tripwires, they are fun for catching human buddies offgaurd tounge_o.gif

It comes with the patches so you have it already, here's what you have to write to init line:

this setflagtexture "\Flags\Finland.jpg" -works for me

I put myself as leader of a Jaeger group with a normal medic in my group....then jumped as pilot into a plane, ordered them all to board the plane after me...but before I gave the order they were all put as "away" and started running off....then when I gave the order they were just standing outside of the plane doing nothing.

Those Jaeger's sure are dangerous crazy_o.gif  tounge_o.gif

You probably had the plane's engine on wink_o.gif, happened to me once.

I just figured out that if you are able to see the Finnish flag in the animation when you start FDFMOD, you have to have the file smile_o.gif I suggest you try out the command Norsu posted here. I'm 99% sure that it will solve your problems.

We just found one quite nasty bug. Using Leopard will crash dedicated servers, due to invalid aspect ratio in one of the interior textures. This might also be reason why some people are experiencing sudden crashes to desktop with FDFMod.

We right now are investigating how to fix this in best possible way. Just releasing fixed PBO would result in patch size of at least 18MB, so we are researching other options too.

This bug seems to not affect singleplayer or hosted servers.

I can't see the finnish flag in the animation,

Where do I put the "this setflagtexture?" Why would I put it in a unit's init line? Do I depbo the animaiton file wherever it is and put that in the flagpole's init file?

Plus, I don't want to use the flag in a mission. I just want to be able to see it in the starting animaiton

Yay! My Post Restriction has finished!

This FDF Mod is definately the best National Mod ever made.

I made a test mission with all the addons which was fun.

I even managed to load up all my squad with Heavy weapons (2 x 12.7mm, 2 x TOW, 1 x AGS-17 and 1 x Mortor), hopped in the Bus(!) then headed off...

... Got out of the bus a km away from all the targets I made then set up the the Heavy Weapons and let loose... Cool!

BTW, In order to get AI pick up the Heavy Weapons you have to do the folloing. eg: TOW

Walk to TOW and take the Tube. Select it as your weapon,(which of course doesnt work), and then drop it. Now the AI soldiers can pick it up. You have to get them to pick up the Ammo seperate. Repeat for the Tripod ( seems silly selecting the tripod as your weapon!).

This is a long winded way of doing it, does anyone know of a better way?

PS. Finland is buying the NH-90 Helicopter in three versions:

TTH - Utility (Has window mounted weapons)

ATTH- Armed Utility: WingLets for stores and Fixed Cannon ( Currently looking at chin mounted GAU-19 20mm gatling, same that is proposed for the EH-101 Merlin)

NFH - Naval ASW/CSAR/Utility

If FDF Mod could make an NH-90 Addon I would love you forever!!

Have spent the weekend playing with the finnish mod. It is absolutely flawless & great.

Hope we soon receive a campaign, its a shame to have so many great new units & no pre-built missions to play with them all.

Its funny that Finnish squads are called Sissi. A name which has other connotation in English ( sissy )

...But there are already 9 SP missions and 12 MP missions included in the pack. The campaign may follow later, but there is a unofficial campaign being built which should not be too far from release now.

Question to FF team: Is the MTLB meant to drive that wildly? I've noticed when the AI is going downhill in armour or other vehicles is that sometimes they go completly wild. One MTLB did a complete 90 degree slide and then turned back to the direction it was heading. In other words: They drive like bloody maniacs!

'Guerilla' sounds a bit too unorganized, I think. If you are looking for one word, 'ranger' might come closer, but then again it's something completely different in the US army. IMO it's a good idea to just say 'sissi' and never mind how it may sound. (For those who are interested, if any, it's pronounced ['sis-si], not [sisi] as in 'sissy' tounge_o.gif )

Anyway, they are long range recon/sabotage units, as cam0flage said. Where paratroopers get a free ride, they walk.  biggrin_o.gif

The AI can't use it, and why would you want to let the AI use such a wonderful weapon in the first place. biggrin_o.gif

The markings in the vertical indicator are metres, though the accuracy depends on both the altitude of the weapon and the target. As for controlling it, it takes a while to get used to.

The mortar is excellent in coop-missions. Suggest you try the following:

X <---- Mortar & the player firing it

.

. <---- Straight line between the mortar & the target,

. with the FO inbetween; hills, trees,

. some sort of coverage, so the target can't see

. the mortar

.

FO <-----Forward observer: a player with binoculars

. trying to stay hidden

.

.

X <-----Target

Since the FO has to see the target and the mortar should not, it makes sense to try and position both players in a straight line in regards to the target. As the FO sees where the fire comes down (and how much it misses the target), he only has to give simple orders to shift fire (e.g. "left 200m, add 150m"). It would get a lot trickier should the FO be positioned in any other spot (as it most certainly would in real life) - this way no calculations are needed.

The whole thing gets even easier if the forward observer is the mortar's squad leader and can give target or move commands to the mortar.

Check if you have file called 'flags.pbo' in your addons folder, that's the official flag pack. If you don't have it, I'm sure most OFP fan sites have it in their file archives.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet (15 pages!), but the new Everon (Karjal) doesnt have its airport defined, ai just try to land in the ocean somewhere south of the island sad_o.gif And I'm being picky here, but the runway textures dont blend with the other ones tounge_o.gif

Surely it wouldn't have been too hard to copy/paste Everons airport definition into the new islands cpp? tounge_o.gif

Anyway, lotsa fun to be had with this mod, keep up the good work FDF team! biggrin_o.gif
