Finnish defence forces mod 1.0 released!

I have a problem with this MOD.I have czech version of OFP:R and if I run FDF Mod trought the FDF.exe my action menu is just a big grey square on 80% monitor, that I see just nothing.

And the radio messages are green or black rectangle in left par of screen.

Apparently the mod does not work with any other than the english version of OFPR. I dont know of the differences between different language versions, so it would be quite impossible to make a fix... Someone already mentioned that copying the fonts.pbo from an english version to the polish(?) version fixed that problem though.

Anyone make it through the Furious Bear SP mission? The one on winter Nogojev, where you start off commanding an ill-equipped team?

I mean there you are, toting rifles and not much more, trying to take out the base at the 1st objective, when these BMPs and T72s show up uninvited!

Yeah I actually finished that mission with only one other man left.  That's the winter mission right?

That's the first winter mission. I'm talking about the next. wink_o.gif

I made it through the first one with quite a few of my team intact. biggrin_o.gif

errhmmmm... I think I have a problem playing this mod at "non-FDF-servers" cause of the fixes like recoil, sounds etc. so it just crashes to desktop after 1min... sad_o.gif

Is there ANY WAY to have these great sounds (cause it's the sounds that I prefer the most) when playing online except on FDF servers??? It gonna be some way to get rid of the shit that causes the crashes on mp servers..  wink_o.gif

I think it says in the readme that you can't use this with servers not using the FDF mod. You should probably stop trying, since atleast according to the readme it will crash the server too.

But what about the sounds then??? How can I make a new shortcut with only the sounds from FDF mod??? You must help me!!! smile_o.gif

*cough* I know a lot of people downloaded it successfully but for some odd reason I seem not to be able to find a working file...

I just downloaded it the 5th time, always from different mirrors and I keep getting this while extracting:

I extracted using Winzip & Winrar, both don't do the trick.

I downloaded and extracted several other large files just to check if it was on my side but assorted *.rars and *.zips ranging from 100 MB to 900 MB were doing fine.

Any clue on why it keeps fucking up on me?  crazy_o.gif

And I couldn't wait to upload it to our dedi...   sad_o.gif

I think you have corrupted file.

So please, download it again and it should work.

And if you use GetRight or some other download programme, that may couse those CRC errors.

You're using latest version of Winrar/Winace/Winzip right?  wink_o.gif

There is one case where updating to latest version helped.

I did. 6th time was corrupted again, 7th time (from the Gamespy server) is finally working!

And just for the record: I don't use download managers.

I was also using the latest versions of WinRar and WinZip.

Anyway it is finally working now. But I am damn happy to have a fast connection...

If you guys don't mind I will upload it to our website and you can add another mirror to your list.

OK - I looked everywhere for this, including all 21 pages of this topic, but can't find a copy of the FDF ReadMe - specifically the names for the units and weapons. I'm trying to make a custom mission, but I deleted the ReadMe somehow and now I can't re-equip my guys.

If someone can get me a copy of it (PM, email or post here) I'll add it to the ME&S Weapon and Ammo Names topic for future reference.

I.INSTALLATION

------------

1. Unzip the files into a temporary folder. eg C:\temp\

2. Extract the self-extracting exe file to your Operation Flashpoint folder, eg. C:\games\OperationFlashpoint\

3. Launch Operation Flashpoint with FDFMOD.EXE from your Operation Flashpoint directory

Your original OFP files will remain intact.

RUNNING FDF MOD ON LINUX SERVER

-------------------------------

Copy 'config.cpp' and 'resource.cpp' from 'finmod/bin' directory to servers' root directory.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***

DO NOT CONNECT TO REGULAR OPERATION FLASHPOINT MULTIPLAYER GAMES WHILE RUNNING THE GAME WITH FDFMOD.EXE.

THIS MAY CAUSE THE SERVER TO CRASH. MAKE SURE YOU USE FDF MOD TO CONNECT SERVERS RUNNING THE FDF MOD.

CONNECT TO NORMAL OFP GAMES WITH THE DEFAULT OFP EXE FILE.

NOTES ABOUT DEPLOYABLE WEAPONS

- Before disassembling/deploying it may take few seconds for the deployment script to activate

- The 'gun' part of the weapon takes 1 heavy weapon slot from inventory, so does the tripod part

- Each magazine/missile takes 1 ammo slot from inventory, so drop your unnecessary possessions in order to carry max amount of ammo

- Only the player who carries the 'Gun' part of the weapon is able to carry the magazines for that weapon

- Due to OFP's ammo handling, deployable weapons cannot be moved while there is ammo in the clip. Clip or be has to be

 EMPTY until the system can be moved again.

Q: I get green/abnormal screen when launching FDFmod.exe

A: Set Hardware T&L on from FlashPointPreferences.exe

Q: How do i run mods like eg. 'Hisky Hi-res Sky' mod with the FDF Mod?

A: Add '-mod=hisky' to the end of FDFmod.exe shortcut's 'Target' field.

  If you want to run several other mods just add semicolon '-mod=hisky;MyMod;Mymod2'

Q: I can't pick up deployable weapons such as AGS-17, NSV, M2

A: Check section "NOTES ABOUT DEPLOYABLE WEAPONS" in this readme

Q: AI doesn't seem to step on tripwires

A: This can't be fixed as AI automatically avoids objects

Q: I connected to some server with FDF Mod and my game crashed!

A: You probably crashed the server too! ONLY CONNECT TO SERVERS RUNNING FDF MOD WHEN USING THIS MOD.

  As stated above, this is not a FDF Mod bug, but an issue that BIS should address.

 

Q: I want to uninstall this mod, how do I do it?

A: Just delete 'finmod' folder from your Operation Flashpoint folder and 'fdfmod.exe' from the same folder.

Q: Does this mod alter my original OFP files? Do I have to reinstall the game?

A: No.

Q: How do I start my normal OFP game without using FDFmod?

A: Just use your 'FlashpointResistance.exe' file or it's shortcut as usual.

Q: What purpose does the LV 217 radio serve?

A: Depends how it is implemented in the mission. See OFP Comman Reference section 'Event handlers'

Hi! Damn nice job, I must say. Kept me busy the whole weekend  smile_o.gif

However, I noticed some things:

1. You 'forgot' the arctic version of  the wheeled APC but used it in a winter mission  wink_o.gif

2. It seems, in this APC the driver is also the commander. This makes it difficult to control the vehicle, when you are the gunner. (No 'Left', Right', 'Fast', etc. commands)

2a. I guess this setting is also the reason, why I got a repetetive 'No Target' from the driver, while playing with it in the Editor. Just as annoying as the famous old 'Damn, 3 is down' bug crazy_o.gif

3. One squad of enemy reinforcements disobeyed orders, and didn't participate in the counterattack in the mission, where you have to kill the general.

4. Already mentioned is the precision fire of the AI. When an enemy lines up on you, you are going to die almost everytime.

5. After I got lost in the mission with the radio station, the mission ended, but I could continue playing it in the background of the main menu    wow_o.gif

6. Not really an issue, but aiming with mortars is hell, when it is not on flat ground, especially at short range...

7. Your Beta-Testers should also look for typos in the briefings. No big issue, but they are so easy to detect and to fix...

8. More a suggestion: On the briefing screen, the Cancel and Continue buttons are hard to read. A little transparent background would be nice...

All in all, only minor issues, so keep up the damn nice work!

I'll put these things to my list and check what can we do.

And I'm sorry but there was few typos in the readme so some mag names are not right. Remington and KIV2000 was wrong I think but can't remember what was the right one now.

May I suggest keeping an updated ReadMe on the FDF site, showing the last date updated?

Heh actually there was one readme but somehow it got deleted biggrin_o.gif

But we have to add it and those new missions to news too.

But let's wait for few new missions too.

Yes. There's a little FAQ thread quite professionally hidden at FDFMOD forums. Here.

Q: Rem870 ammo names are wrong in readme?!

A: Yes. Insted of "fdf_rem870shell"; use "fdf_rem870buck"; or buckshot...can't remember which one exactly and for the ball..use "fdf_rem870slug"

One more thing, more a request:

You might add a.k.o. a cursor to the mortars. Without, it is hard to report enemies or assigntargets to the team.
