Anxiously waiting for the 3000 facebook surprise announcement

Oh, was there anything to be announced? :dancered:

- - -

Public Beta Program Open!

Red Hammer Studios is very excited to announce that we are opening the doors for all our fans to participate in the beta testing of the next version of our mod! The first version is available tonight and if you follow the instructions (http://www.rhsmods.org/beta) you will be on your way!

We can't say how often the beta will be updated, but it will also give us the opportunity to fix and release critical bug fixes much quicker. Our initial aim is to have a new version available through the updater at least once a month.

Updated changelogs are available for both factions: ftp://ftp.rhsmods.org/beta/rhsafrf/CHANGELOG.txt and ftp://ftp.rhsmods.org/beta/rhsusaf/CHANGELOG.txt and from now on will also be available in Russian thanks to the guys at TEHGAM community!

Enjoy,

RHS Team

Wow! Awesome! I'll be sure to be using this, great idea, just like PR, which is a very easy to use system.

PS-"Added FCS to BMP-3"?

Is there a BMP-3 now?

You may want to look in the Russian IFV section ;)

I can't ATM unfortunately not able to download it until tommorow XD

But a BMP-3! Cor! That's a great addition! That'll be sure to make the MSV a just as big of a threat as the VDV!

Absoloutly great!

while it is indeed there I must remind all that BETA is BETA thus many things are not in their final state and should not be expected to be so. We are working hard to bring new things for you and one of the more serious decisions of opening the beta program was whether we will leave unfinished content open for end users. We knew from the start it will kill a bit the sense of surprise on many things but we felt that having your feedback was important anyway. Plus it saves us a lot of time going around and enabling/disabling things before release of every beta, we better use that time to make new things :)

Trust me, nobody really cares about such minor visual details. We simply want more top-notch functional content without too many dependencies ;)

I care and I am sure that I am not alone. Since then the wish to do things better become a bad thing? Besides, I've worked with textures for various mods for other games for 8 years, so I have a keen eye for such stuff. ;)

Thank you guys for possibility to play with new stuff before it "officially" available! :) It's really great idea that worked well for BI.

New BMP-3 is amazing! It even has interior!

Just downloaded beta and ran into first issue. :D And it's rather weird — each time I look at some tank (T-80, T-72, M1A1) my screen image tears into unsynchronized pieces like if my vertical sync is off (and it really hurts eyes for some reason). Bradley seems to be unaffected by this issue.

Hmm, can't reproduce it after restart — perhaps it was something on my side, sorry for false-positive report. :)

Thanks team, it's a treat to be allowed this look-ahead. I hope people are suitably mindful in their feedback.

Awesome awesome awesome. You guys are making some great stuff here.

Any plans for alternate camo for the vehicles? I'd love to see winter white and two tone sand/green if possible.

An aircraft to drop my VDV tanks and infantry would be ridiculous too.....

No snow camo for US vehicles I am affraid, as US do not use snow camo for them. It is more a concept of background color which is created by vehicle desert or woodland pattern on which later snow, mud or anything else stick, creating some sort of natural camouflage, very similiar concept like the Israelis do with their vehicles, painted in to sort of desert background color which later is covered with mud or dust.

US vehicles however can have olive drab (green) color, some are painted in such pattern, but then again, dunno if we can apply such pattern yet, other more important things are in progress.

As for Russians, dunno, I believe they also do not use dedicated snow pattern for vehicles.

Sorry I meant the Russians only.

They will have I'm sure with the winter camo. Although the only pictures I can find in winter camp (white/green) are the lighter vehicles BTR or smaller :/

In April 2013 there was the news that the Minister Shoigu has approved a temporary regulation for coloring military equipment and weapons. Under this new system camouflage techniques will not be applied but instead, all military vehicles should be colored in plain khaki, light and dark green colors, selected in accordance with their dislocation.

Btw, grey livery for VVS was also canceled by Shoigu in december 2012, from that time aircrafts should be painted by manufacturers using camouflage patterns based on aircraft's intended dislocation. But I am sure that you guys already know this, as camouflaged helicopters and airplanes are already in RHS mod.

Well, I was only quoting. I found mentioned news on various sites such as vz.ru, lenta.ru, voennovosti.ru and such. It's rather confusing, to tell the truth. Maybe there was another, permanent regulations, establishing camouflage pattern for ground forces later, in 2014 year. Or maybe reporters got it wrong and it was meant that all vehicles will be painted in 3-tone camo pattern (khaki, light and dark green, like on your picture) with different color proportions, taking in account surrounding nature (for example similar approach was used by Red Army prior WW2, then camo was ranged from 2-tone to 4-tone depending of military district). Another thing is that there a lot of vehicles in the army already painted in dark green, which is the legacy of Serdyukov's reign, then it was used for economy reasons.

There are some vehicles in the current BETA branch with that camo - one version of the Tigr and the up-armoured BMP-3. So I guess it's something that RHS is looking at.

Wow. Your beta updaters are very slick and well done. Upgrading to beta now. Good work, people! :)

Awesome stuff again fellas, thanks for all the time and effort you guys put into this!

The only bugs I've found so far are the Desert AA Specialist (rhsusf_army_ucp_aa) forgot to bring his Stinger, also, when turned out, the driver of the M113 is pretty high up and his hands are above the cupola so it looks like he's using "the force" to steer.

Did you guys catch this one? I haven't tried beta yet to see if this has been fixed. A quick scan of the bug tracker found nothing about this, but perhaps I missed the entry.

Yeah, seems we missed that one as well. Please post these issues on our feedback tracker, we will look in to it later.

I think the BMP-3's armour might be too low.

I was testing it against Bradleys, and usually it lost unless it got lucky as within a few rounds the crew would jump out and the BMP3(A) would explode.

I then tested vs the BMD-4M, they are similar and so while I am no expert, they should have similar armour levels, considering both are the most advanced model of each one (BMD and BMP)

I then placed them on an airfield and got a BMP-2 and just fired at the front armour with the BMP-2's 30mm, the results:

BMP-3 less than 40 rounds will explode, BMD-4M will not explode even after firing 340 rounds at it it will not take any serious damage.

So, either the 4M is really over armoured or the BMP-3 is underarmoured, but IDK.

If someone else has already said it best and you can't top it, "steal" from them:
