Devs are probably looking here and giggling. "They have no idea," they say.

If it were new MGs it'd be other stuff like changing boat turrets, ruck bags, etc. More than just Static_F.

I'm hoping for a Backpack-able Tripod. Meaning i can stick a Tripod in my bag, walk up to a hill, take my MG, and assemble it on the Tripod. When i'm done, i want to disassemble the stuff, pick up my MG, put the tripod in my bag, and continue on with MG in hand. That'd be sweet.

That would be awesome.

First off, the 'ASP-1 Kir' is, in fact, a CSAT weapon; similarly, the 'Mk14' is a new addition for the FIA only. In addition, the Cyrus uses 9.3x64 mm rounds (i.e., not the calibre specified under the round itself). A similar glitch is found with CTRG's MAR-10, too. Apologies for the inaccuracies!
Then there's the question of 'why no bolt-action rifles?'. In short, we ran into some roadblocks related to, fundamentally, how we simulate weapons. We determined that the resources needed to change this were vastly disproportionate to the potential benefits. Instead, we chose to focus upon other features, which we feel can improve infantry combat more broadly.

I wonder if its an animation related issue.

Even if they could not get the animation I am sure everyone would have been satisfied if they included bolt actions in the same manner seen in the past aka bolting of the gun simulated by a delay between shots.

Some interesting progress has been made on the NAT traversal front. In short, UPNP support for servers was enabled, which automatically creates port forwarding to bypass Network Address Translation (NAT) issues. This should help those behind a router with NAT who've been unable to create public servers following the GameSpy service shutdown.

Oh man oh man I've been waiting for this (and likely many other people also). It has been big dissapointment after the GameSpy shutdown that I or some of my friends couldn't host just some small missions because of those NAT issues.

With this, i greatly assume that the weapons they intended for the Marksman DLC that were moved to the Expansion, are bolt action, in which they are going to take that risky route to improve bolt action animations come the Expansion. This would only make sense, as it's not impossible, it's just extensive.

I'm glad he clarified things, and offer simple explanation for questions/concern.Seem like

they made decision between bolt action rifles or semi-auto rifles with bipods/resting.

Too bad he didn't expand on what roadblocks were. "we ran into some roadblocks related to, fundamentally, how we simulate weapons"

If they are animations, I know is possible to animate cycling it's however very finicky and takes a lot of time, so I'm not sure if is about anims.

I wonder if we'll get a lovely selection of objects like we did with the heli DLC?

I think we can pretty much expect new targets for training purposes, but beyond that I really don't know.

Yes that's much more exciting news for me than some guns (as nice as they look).

I haven't been able to host any MP for months to test anything (shared router with neighbours is cheap but inflexible).

I still wonder though: would it be possible to just simply update the animation on the M320 to include hand movement?

Because in my opinion even that would be a big improvement.

I'd think maybe of a solution similar to what we already have for driving wheels and vehicle machinegun animations but i'm sure it's something the devs already thought of. :)

Agreed, i can't wait for this feature as well, given i just tried it thinking they fixed it in this current update, in which i was wrong. -.-# Impatience got the best of me.

Just finished reading the latest REPORT IN by Ondrej Martinak and while I have enjoyed reading all the previous ones I enjoyed this one in particular. Thanks for sharing your internal workflow and give us an insight how how a A3 programmers challanges looks like. Also nice to read that you are evaluating VR and that it eventually may be supported in the future.

If you missed it I highly recommend it...
