Meatball0311,

just wanted to note that the AI landing gear issue is still there. I saw that it was on your todo list and then no longer. So far, other than that, i really like what you have done and the updates thus far. Let me know about the AI issue, they look kinda strange flying around all day with their landing gear in the down position. :)

I am still working on that, but what I am finding is that it may not be possible due to the scripted landing gear. I am having trouble with removing the scripts and having the landing gear doors close/open properly. Hopefully will have that fixed soon.

Meatball0311,

Thanks for the quick response... I look forward to a fix/solution soon. :) is there any kind of script I can run in a trigger or at a waypoint to force the landing gear and such up... ? just curious. I tried other options and still no avail.

Once again thanks for updating it. I'm not very fond of the new action menu though, too many colours and a bit confusing to use. I'd recommend you switch it back to how it was :(

Next update I changed them to all one color. The color is different from vanillia, but they are uniformed. Everything except the Ejection action.

I know it is frustrating! I hate it too. But I dont know of any scripts that would do the trick. Doing some research on the topic I found nothing that can help and actually all the things I found said that it wasnt possible. I need to get the landing gear back to normal action AND have the doors close and open. That is what I am having trouble with atm.

I see, will you keep the new sub-menu or bring it to how it was in 1.4, so only avionics and advanced RWR controls stay in their respective sub-menus?

Meatball0311 - I'd just like to say that your dedication to work out the kinks in your F/A-18 continues to push it to the forefront of the other Aircraft mods IMHO.

Also is there a way you can make the Pilot units you have included so they don't pass out as easily as they do? They seem like they're just normal units skinned as Pilots.

Thanks!

Keep up the work, believe me when I say it does not go under appreciated.

hmmmmmm.... that sounds nice. I could use probably a lot of things out of that. Mostly textures and references.

OK Meatball,

Got home today and pulled out the manual. Not sure what references you might need but I'll start with this:

Sec-3 Part 1 PG #3-30

Carrier Controlled Approach (CCA)

Typical

10 Mile, Level at 1200 ft- change to landing configuration

6 Mile, Decend to 600 FT MSL- 250 Knots

1 1/4 mile, 600 ft, Commence Landing Decent

1 mile, 400 ft Final Bearing

3/4 mile CALL BALL ("Callsign, HORNET, Ball or CLARA, Fuel state (nearest 100 pounds) and auto" (if using ATC for approach)

1/2 mile, 200 ft

**********

WAVEOFF ON FINAL

BEARING CLIMB STRAIGHT

AHEAD TO 1200 FEET

TURN TO DOWNWIND

HEADING WHEN DIRECTED

25* BANK LEVEL TURN (left)

MISSED APPROACH PATTERN

LEFT 1200 FEET

TURN BACK INTO FINAL

WHEN DIRECTED 18*-22*

BANK ON SPEED LEVEL TURN.

Hope that helps, let me know what in specific you need.

I know you are trying to help but is that "limited knowledge" or "classified" information you are posting for the public to see?

I seriously doubt that its classified as a 2 min google search of "Carrier controlled approach" yielded similar descriptions and pictures.

Most works of fiction that have a carrier landing in them use what meatball described, BSG even uses the same basics. Certainly not that hard to get the information.

Point taken.

I will use more care with the good stuff...:)

The manual does require proper destruction when not in use.. woops.

I believe this material may be category "Sensitive".

If one was a rated jet pilot, this book would provide a majority of required information to transition.

The damn thing is as big as "War and Peace".They gotta have a PDF version somewhere.

No but they can easily shoot down a vulnerable aircraft in its landing cycle......

you obviously have no grasp as to why this materiel would be sensative.

Hey, on my last comment about AI not getting in the aircraft when they are on the Nimitz, I think I know the reason.

You have the default settings on the Hornet set to "lock". Everything else is set to default which usually means unlocked. So I think thats why they didn't get in. I would think they would have said "negative" before they even walked over there though.

It gets to be a pain to always remember to change it to unlock. I've been using RTE and I found it to not be so friendly to what you put in init. Whatever you change in the RTE goes back to default when you export it in order to put it in your mission. Including ammo, fuel, health, enablesimulation gets erased, wing folding gets erased, etc. So it's not your problem, just RTE's

But maybe you can tell me, for curiousity sake, why is the default set to "locked"?

If anyone thinks that that's classified info I guess no one here played Falcon 4.0. That instruction manual was like a dictionary. Landing isn't a secret.

I will unlock it, I think I was messing around trying to not get the AI to go in the Pilot seat when I would order my WSO to get in plane. Be on next update..
