ArmA 2 site hacked

Recommended Posts

Is nVidia liable for the loss of excitement in lieu of BIS announcing it themselves? :yay:

Or was it the PersianBlackHatChapies infiltrating NVIDIA that spurned BIS to take serious action and create a diversion in the form of a puzzle?

The truth is out there.

Most of them seem to be related to Greece in some way.

In reality it makes sense, NVIDIA would have everything to gain. Another game sponsorship, BIS has always flirted with the idea of a far more detailed destruction system. NVIDIA probably gave them an offer to help finally get that done.

It's not far fetched to think BIS finally has decided to update the physics engine entirely.

I don't know if anybody has pointed this out yet, as too many pages to read. But on the map the arrow in Scotland is roughly pointing to Her Majesty's Naval Base (HMNB) Clyde.

besides, in this day and age with games like bad company 2 having everything being able to be blown up with ragdolls everywhere, the reality engine was starting to look a little dated.

arma has always been good when it comes to statistical realism (weapon ranges, textures, etc) but the engine is terrible at simulated realism (destruction, physics, AI). a new arma game MUST offer more of the latter as opposed to even more parallax mapping on sand textures.

Someone did mention the arrows pointing to British Bases in general a few pages back, but I'm not sure that is an entirely correct assesment. Nether the less, it is interesting that you bring up a similar point.

This whole Greek link in the last hack has confused matters somewhat. However there is British involvement in border peacekeeping operations between Greece and Turkey on Cyprus. Perhaps this potential flashpoint (an unikely one these days though) is linking the clues?

Pretty straight forward:

Arma2free.exe - Free version with limited capabilities/low resolution textures ala BAF (lite)

Utter bull they will never release it in that state they won't leave ArmA2 unfinished they did not do that with Arrmed assault eather nor with OFP CWC.

hey iam just speculating, but the control panel entrys/profiles are a fact.

unfortunately i have a apple keybord on my pc and cant make screenshots with it.

The control panal entrys are also on my nvidea settings so, thats why i strongly believe it is for real tbh. Never the less we can still be off track on a lot of other speculations!

This feeling of enthusiasm is nice to have again, if the NVIDIA idea is right and they do partner up somehow and vastly overhaul the engine to be even more realistic i'd go crazy.

Arma 2 is the greatest game I've ever played, but if Arma 3 comes, then I can say goodbye to my social life !

Anyway, what about the greece stuff ? I saw the pics and everything but,

Has anyone checked to see if BIS has registered any new copyrights recently, eg: ArmA 3 or ArmA : Unknown Expansion. Just a thought?

BIS will start selling weapons and gear with ArmA II free, will start using exp, perks... LOL

I dont see how profitable it would be for BIS.

The arrow seems too far north, although it isn't exactly an accurate map or large enough to place the arrows properly.

I thought it was nearer the torpedo testing facility in Scotland, but the arrow is still farther north in comparison, actually looks to be over the Cruachan dam which is an old inactive volcano that holds the water for a power station.

Hopefully they will roll in some VBS2 features people have been begging for, they'll have render to texture scopes no doubt. I'm hoping for the physics engine to be polished, real time editor, and 3D editor all working.

Those features alone would force me to pre-order ArmA 3 the second it was available.

Ragdoll physics, naval combat & 3D editor would justify a stand-alone game.

P.S. Attention span has evaporated. Apart from Aegean (Ageia physics engine/PhysX) islands & Sparta (HMS Spartan of the Swiftsure class, which is being replaced by Astute class submarines), I can't seem to make any more connections. ;)

Surely A3 shouldnt be coming out yet, so much life left in A2 and OA, and PC's are only just capable of running it looking really nice now.

Don't want to stray too much offtopic, but I only partially agree with you. Of course the VR engine in its current form gets outdated with every passing day, and it lacks the eye-candy, mainly visual "physic" features, which might be good to be taken into consideration whenever a new ArmA game will be deployed. But BC2 and lookalikes are mainly going for the visual pleasure when it's about physics; they are way too much overdone - I don't think it's possible to put a 3m big hole into a brick wall with a 40mm HEDP grenade. Just like ragdoll is very much overdone in HL2 for example. So hooray for physics, but in a more moderate way than we see in these 5 hour long interactive movies.

I noticed something with regard to the files. Maybe it's nothing.

Filename Password
No filename No Password (_.txt)
name ignorance
sound think
draw stop
statue difference
animal fools
thing nothing

The pairs appear to be unrelated directly except _.txt and nothing/thing. However, those pairings would appear to indicate that the files names and passwords have more importance than just that. Also, the fact that the files names and extensions were reversed seems to draw attention to them.
