Horn not broadcasted to other players?

I wonder when BIS will fix car horns to be broadcasted to other multiplayer clients? Currently the horn is only local.

Since AI considers horn as a "weapon/fire" since OFP days I wonder how is that relevant in MP games? Thanks in advance for any replies by fans or BI staff.

Actually it´s my most favourite bug ever since it´s not getting any attention from the developers despite of how easy it is to fix! :D

(The smiley is laughing from insanity, not about happyness over this situation.)

Coincidence, we were just talking on the german forums about the same issue, again!

Addon solution not possible because the CarHorn weapon got seperated by BI from eventhandlers, thus not giving any possibility to hack it back in, at least not without replacing whole baseclasses and a shitload of other cfg work.

And i´m fully with Xeno, community should not be forced to fix this!

I'm also missing our usual 'Adagio for Horns' during armed-assault.de coop sessions :rolleyes:

If I recall correctly, the horn on vehicles was broadcasted to all players in ArmA MP. They must have changed something from ArmA to Arma 2 to make it not happen anymore. Perhaps it is as you say, Mr Burns.

Now you honk to a teammate standing on the road while doing 80km/h and he just remains there :) and you wonder when you offer someone a transport far away from battlefield and honking like crazy and he keeps running in front of you :)

Yeah, I wonder why this little feature with great impact on gameplay doesn't get any attention from BIS at all.

Honking was great. Yet, it's not only honking, but weapon dry sounds, too.

Anyways, not much hope it'll be fixed, as this was posted this like years ago on the bugtracker and didn't receive any dev attention at all. :(

Agreed that this is a simple fix with great impact on gameplay.

In Armed Assault, the carhorn was a sign to get in the vehicle to move on, worked really well.

Have no clue why it broke in A2, since its a simple weapon fire broadcast i'd say.

I think I remember this also coming to Arma 1 in patch form, not from the start.

A solution would be great, even more so for reloading.

What do you mean by reloading?

Are you referring to the fact that the reload animations for characters is not visible for other players?

According to the changelog this is fixed in 70709! But I guess the server and both clients must be updated to make it work.

Only the client needs to be updated for it to work on a server.

Well, it's kinda strange. All clients and server is updated to 70709. But only I could hear others using the horn. They could not hear each other or me. I'm using VopSound (not the "repack" that doesn't do much), not sure what the others used. This was also on ACE where everything was updated.

Could it be a soundmod issue?

this sounds pretty cool, I had no idea that it was a missing feature haha. no reload animations either? I don't spend enough time watching other players to have noticed that one.

As far as CarlGustaffa's response, anyone else had a similar problem? or is it ACE related maybe?

Only beta users can hear the horn.

So if you're (a beta user) are in a car and you honk your horn, normal 1.05 users will not hear it.

On the other hand, if a 1.05 user in a vehicle honks his horn, only you as a beta user will be able to hear it.

It's rather funny actually, in MP people give away their positions becuase a lot of people just drive around honking horns thinking no one can hear them.:yay:

FFS Thats why nowone got im my car, it must of looked like i was just trying to run them over. . . .

The recent beta Patches did fix this... I heard car horns in some of the last warfare BE matches...a really usefull feature sometimes.

unfortunately there are some servers that do not allow the use of the beta...for reasons i cant understand since you simply miss to much without the beta.
