kroky 1 Posted May 27, 2010 It would be something new, if we would see some kind of asian location, like China, Japan of Thailand, with asian style builldings. As far as I know there is no such map out. (Yes there is Vietnam coming from Unsung, but it not the type I thinking of. Hongkong would be very interesting. galzohar 31 Posted May 27, 2010 If you ask me, urban areas should have as many enterable buildings as possible (preferably with actual interior) and be as dense as possible to provide the kind of fighting that we currently don't have in the game. Open areas should have lots of objects and/or terrain features that can be used for covers, unlike the current "massive open field with no cover to use for fire and maneuver" you get on most islands. Thats no true, just recently there came an asian style buildings package out. So I think its up to the mapmakers to do this.
Devil Dogs SF 13 Posted May 27, 2010 Indeed, that map looks to be amazing. Can't wait to see some US buildings and towns. After that we may start getting people making US police officers and SWAT or maybe some US civilians.
Specialist 10 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) I would like to see a South American Map, Maybe like Colombia, Peru or one based on the Amazon with lakes and jungles, huts, big rivers and mountains. Some Examples: Or maybe the South American part of Isla Terra can be like this? ;) Edited May 28, 2010 by Specialist
bravo 6 0 Posted May 28, 2010 hum.. that sounds like lag and lag and some more lag... it might be awesome in 5 years or so. :)
Devil Dogs SF 13 Posted May 28, 2010 Crysis didn't lag that much, and the only reason the jungle map on Arma (Razoreniya or something) lagged a bit was because of the grass.

Fox '09 14 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) is it possible to use sprites for leaves etc? might help with jungles Edited May 29, 2010 by Fox '
Darkhorse 1-6 16 Posted May 28, 2010 Or maybe the South American part of Isla Terra can be like this? ;) Yeah... Isla Terra probably won't happen for a very very long time, if it ever happens. Think a year or more most likely. Probably much more.
Specialist 10 Posted May 29, 2010 Yeah... Isla Terra probably won't happen for a very very long time, if it ever happens. Think a year or more most likely. Probably much more. Yeah it was just a thought, Im not holding my breath :p
Militant1006 11 Posted May 29, 2010 Yeah it was just a thought, Im not holding my breath :p Besides Isla Terra it would be great to have a south american map, although after my experience with Razoreniya i don't think it would be very computer friendly, on Razoreniya when i went into the forest with normal settings and minimum view distance i had about 10 - 15fps. Vilman 10 Posted May 29, 2010 (edited) Hello Icebreakr ! I think a lot of A2 gamers need a terrain/island for LONG DISTANCE TANK COMBAT. I mean a terrain that is very huge, and in 80-90% is a really flat, grassy and bushy area. With a SMALL NUMBER of trees. With smaller and bigger threnches, ditches. And some smaller towns, maybe 5-6 farms. Only some things to hide behind them. A terrain, that is enough huge for 10-30 minutes long tank movements in the same direction. Do not ever have to stop and slow down. So far now, we have tank and APC addons in big numbers, but i (we) cannot use them out properly, 'cause there is no enough place for that. I had to think about an island like your great Isla Duala, but bigger, and with no hills, river, no cities and jungle areas. Does anybody remember Steel Beasts 1. ? The huge maps of the game ? That is what we need ! :) Any opinions ? Edited May 29, 2010 by Vilman
icebreakr 3157 Posted June 1, 2010 is it possible to use sprites for leaves etc? might help with jungles No need, Berghoff is helping me with new island with brand new vegetation. I'm doing tests this week to see FPS impact with different styles.
enad 11 Posted June 1, 2010 No need, Berghoff is helping me with new island with brand new vegetation. I'm doing tests this week to see FPS impact with different styles. Awesome! :) Lingor looks amazing from that little screenshot in your sig. I seriously can't wait to see more! :D
gossamersolid 155 Posted June 1, 2010 Looking forward to Lingor. I love your work IceBreakr!
lao fei mao 21 Posted June 2, 2010 Mr. IceBreakr, I request you to make an east Asia Island, you may reference to Taiwan or Korea peninsula, which wound be the hot flashpoint areas after the Afghanistan. But so bad that this community lacks of Asian style buildings or other infrastructures models........
ryguy 10 Posted June 2, 2010 What would be awesome would be a fully to-scale representation of an area, no matter how small. You could use google street view and stuff to get it right XD That would be very cool.
raserisk 12 Posted June 11, 2010 I'm hoping that with the new models being worked on that relate to Cities, (one pack with skyscrapers has already been released) that more mappers start taking the oppurtunity to create a huge sprawling Metropolis, among the likes of New York City or Chicago. I would really, get into A2 mapping and try to do it myself rather than wait but I'm currently mapping for the Source Engine (Valve games) and having to learn a whole new system will just wreck me. katipo66 94 Posted June 11, 2010 I love Razani, a razani with 2 or 3 afghan village style villages in it and a few settlements scattered around would be cool.
icebreakr 3157 Posted June 11, 2010 Katipo66: we'll have plently of that in Arrowhead coming by the end of this month. I will surely upgrade my maps to new OA objects, from donkey cart to fancy buildings ;) Work on Lingor continues (there is a separate topic for it, where I accept your ideas) and hopefully it will be ready when Arrowhead comes out. TechnoTerrorist303 10 Posted June 11, 2010 I would love to see (and be very interested in talking to anyone who decided to make one) a map like Sahrani except with proper airbases in the corners instead of dirt strips and a variety of terrains and urban areas on the main island. Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted June 11, 2010 I want an American community, complete with neighborhoods, parks and commercial (malls, stores and fast-good joints) areas. It doesn't have to been so upscale, like the neighborhood in Modern Warfare 2. I'd like something a little more realistic, including even trailer parks. And the most-realistic way to decorate a neighborhood (unless it is a gated community with a Nazi-like home-owners' association) is to ask individual friends how they would decorate, landscape and improve a home.
