thesun 14 Posted November 4, 2009 So, here's another piece of equipment for our Czech army mod, this time it's Carl Gustav M3 which is used by our (special) forces. Still a lot work to do regarding the textures and LOD-ing. Model of the launcher and HEAT round is at 3106 faces/1 section right now. Some pics:
soul_assassin 1750 Posted November 4, 2009 nice @theSun
Uglyboy 10 Posted November 4, 2009 Impressive detail :) Keep them coming :p
DaSquade 0 Posted November 4, 2009 Good job TheSun. Personally i would of made the body tube based on a 32 segment cilinder though. Meaning, smooth detail of the smaller parts versus the big tube. It wouldn't kill the total amount of faces as the tube doesn't contain that much connected details...but that is just me and my hate of low poly non-smooth cilinder against the skyline. Mind to share a pic of the other side? Also i suppose that is quad/mixed tris face count and not fully tris count right? Keep it up...
thesun 14 Posted November 4, 2009 Thenks for the comments guys. @DaSquade Yeah, I might hace done it a bit smoother, but as the tube has quite many "holes" in it I deciced to leave it at that, besides I don't mind the tube being a bit low-poly. Oh, and the tris-count is 5440. Here is the other side:
dk-vcb 31 Posted November 4, 2009 looks really good m8...
nodunit 397 Posted November 5, 2009 Is that 5440 in what we see or tri's? It looks great but some parts could use sharpening and are causing some visual artifacts.
b00ce 160 Posted November 5, 2009 I trust there will be a replacement config, eh Bink? :p
max power 21 Posted November 5, 2009 (edited) I've done the diffuse and a temporary spec map on the xm177e2 receiver. All in all it's coming along, and I'm learning a great deal about the super shader. I think I will use a multi material in the end to get the plastic and metal parts correctly. These textures are 100% hand painted with no photo composite or procedural method (which is a big switch for me / except for an AO render). Click on the images to get to my Picasa album for a higher res shot (not much higher, though, 1024x768 as opposed to 800x600). manzilla 1 Posted November 5, 2009 I trust there will be a replacement config, eh Bink? :p If he doesn't release one right off the bat it's a piece of cake to make or tweak one to use these units.
Yano 18 Posted November 5, 2009 Hi, i started work on a addon for CSLA mod, its OT65A Otter scout car. Some parts need to recude amount of polys, but exterior model is nearly done. :)
soul_assassin 1750 Posted November 5, 2009 very nicely executed

caprera 0 Posted November 5, 2009 ok, i have doubts about the wheels...i mean they look less "rounded" in comparison with some particulars
soul_assassin 1750 Posted November 5, 2009 the guy who made the wheels wasn't looking for crits :P on topic: @Max Power The texturing looks great , really some character there, I think you have nicely captured the texture of the metal.
caprera 0 Posted November 5, 2009 the guy who made the wheels wasn't looking for crits :P Everybody kept telling me i was an idiot. Now i know they were right....
Yano 18 Posted November 6, 2009 thanks for positive comments the guy who made the wheels wasn't looking for crits :P Feel free to post critics also for my model. @caprera: The wheel has 20 segments, it is standard for now, it will look more rounded with normal map baked from high poly model of wheel. :)
caprera 0 Posted November 6, 2009 Understood. Btw the model looks great, also because of the many particulars ;)
lNTRUDER 26 Posted November 6, 2009 I'm just finishing up my USMC Winter Infantry units. Note that my aim has not been to make perfect replicas of the real life winter camos. I'm doing this on a very tight time budget lol... Still I think my units can be a nice addition to any winter island mission.
