Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!

I'm impressed.. I like the way the environment looks and the whole atmosphere.

Also like the 1st person view movement..

When the voices are implemented and the destruction system.. I think I'm going to be really happy with ArmA2 :D

The current Arma1 system was way better for targeting enemies.

ArmaI / OFP:

"2 O'Clock, Machine gunner at 500m"

action: you look towards two O'clock and look ~500m out and spot the enemy. Takes 2-5 seconds.

Amen, brother:)

That was the first thing I thought when I heard the actual audio from the game. I guess it IS more realistic than the older version, but still... it is much less friendly...

The IGN preview from April 20, 2009 said that the A.I. use cover and "run around" often.

However, in the Hungarian preview, the A.I. just stood around pointing their rifles at the character waiting not firing a shot. Note that the Hungarian preview is from February 2009, and the IGN preview is much more updated.

...thus I'm really holding my breath on this one. For some what's important is proper uniforms, weapons, grip's, optics, new graphics, new terrain; for others like me (especially SP players) it all boils down to a crafty, somewhat human-like, beliveable AI that wants to live. If BI came out with an ' OFP1- Super Enhanced AI' version simultaneously with ARM2, I'd spend $100 for the first.

Wait, are you saying that because you gave them the first review they should have scored it higher?
That's because it deserved 60%. It was an unpolished PoS that destroyed my confidence in BIS.

Holy duplicate accounts batman.

Bye, bye duplicate account making troll, good luck with puberty, it rocks I tell you.

I see that this preview from hry.sme.sk http://hry.sme.sk/c/4592873/arma-ii-dobrovolne-zelene-mozgy.html probably isn't linked here. Here is link with screenshots from game http://hry.sme.sk/scr_start.asp?id=1973 . Screenshots are taked with maximal details.

Those are some awesome pictures. But at this point I'm actually no longer interested in "maximal details" as 80% of the people here will be running on "normal/medium"... and so far those shots have been very depressing in comparison to these high quality shots.

I mean cmon:

all this news on arma2 is great but where is the big news - the release date? More on the AI?

Just watched the videos on armedassault.info. I really, really, really like the first one, it clearly shows where the strength of ArmA 2 lie, but it catches also so much of the original, OFP like atmosphere.... loving it :)

Bah, at the ArmA I release most people (including me) were not able with GF 6600 and the new 7900 GTX to play it on very high.

Now its not a problem. Its always been upgrading.

Yeah this is gonna be the truth for most for sure. ArmA2 seems to look very rough at medium settings. Like most new games though there are a few people that can go close to or absolute maximum while most will get there later on. Luckily ArmA2 will keep ones (my) interest for a long time, and when the time is right - im gonna be up there on planet super-maximum and enjoy every second of it.

Hopefully i can go high from start. Can just wait and see.

EDIT: ArmA1 with 8800GTS, 3.5ghz dual core and 4gb ram. I cant play ArmA1 on maximum even. Far from it. Hoping though that the multi core support will release FPS from the AI, and my new graphics card will pawn the 8800GTS hard so hopefully it (AA2) will play above normal.

EDIT3: And btw those last screens with preview is NOT maxed out. The AA isnt even on so how can it be maxed? I think many previewers confuse the quick quality selector option with the individual settings. It will tell you your running "very high" when in fact your running half options on normal, and half on high, and some on low plus a little higher VD than normal. It says so for me in ArmA1 with the settings i just said.

This Lada looks like its actually licensed for the game.
Maybe there is no need for a licence due to the age of the car?

They'd have to licence Zhiguli aswell. It's a shame that they probably can't give the Volkswagen Golf IV it's official name in the game.

I doubt it, Mafia 1 and 2(set in 30s and 50s) had to use fictional names on their cars to avoid being sued.

Seems like they wont let me link directly to the car, so here they are from my own host:

Hmm...

Well I hope that Volkswagen is friendly enough to provide ArmA 2 with a name licence... :D
