dr_chris 10 Posted January 15, 2009 Hey all , started work on converting some of the vehicles for arma ..apart from some re-modeling there is still plenty to do to get them to arma standard some w.i.p's of the spec/difuse http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8643/war1rd7.th.jpg[/img http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/3601/war2tn8.th.jpg[/img http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/2850/war3yj3.th.jpg[/img Now they look well sexy. Will there the be the option of having cyalumes on the warrior for tactical purposes?

If a squaddie did that in real life you can bet his NCO would be ripping him a new one.  I cant see that hanging them off a vehicle would be any different. da12thMonkey 1943 Posted January 15, 2009 They sometimes stick cyalumes in bottles, and tape them onto the radio whips of vehicles in Afghanistan. For convoy discipline I believe, but they may have a purpose in IFF. They're too small a detail to be worthy of putting on lower LODs, so they'll probably only be visable at close range in ArmA. At which point the vehicle's most likely near enough to where and what it is assuming your vehicle recognition skills are alright; hence I don't see them as being that useful a feature. I thought thats what the IR strips/catseye patches were for?

Dutch forces use the plastic bottles on the antennas in Afghanistan. It is used for IFF and its a bottle beccause it is much easyier to replace the glowstick instead of taping on a new one every time.

dr_chris 10 Posted January 15, 2009 Daniel @ Jan. 15 2009,23:24)]How far can you spot a cylume at distance at night? In certain conditions, miles.
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted January 15, 2009 Because a vehicle won't be sniped, so its ok for the enemy to see them. I beg to differ. Â Pleanty of vehicles get sniped by RPGs, various rockets and mortars every day in Iraq and Astan. I was under the impression that the UK MoD had invested in the use of IR/Formation plates to reduce their reliance on driving lights to help reduce the risk of vehicles being spotted. Stewy 1 Posted January 16, 2009 G'day guys, VERY sorry to interupt the discussion about the great UK stuff in the pipeline. Â Just have a small problem with the SA80 rifle sights. Can you please help? I recently upgraded my monitor to a widescreen, and now run a 1280x768 resolution. Â But sadly, my SA80 sights look like this... Â I don't have the same problem with the AAW Steyrs, or any other mod rifles. Â I'm sure it's easy for experts to fix, but I have no clue! Thanks guys for your help Cheers Stew
Pathy 0 Posted January 16, 2009 The OFP converted weapons aren't normally supported by us. (although we retain strict control over the IP ) However. I haven't tested this, so back up your old ukf_ukweps_cfg.pbo and replace it with this one: http://www.volcbat.com/ukf_ukweps_CFG.rar Let me know if it works - its the SUSAT from the new pack, I use it but i've changed the SA80s a helluva lot so not sure how well the sight will slot into the old models. Oh and you hereby agree that by downloading this you won't steal my bank account or run off with my girlfriend, and wont use or modify that without permission, beyond replacing the old .pbo
Stewy 1 Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks Pathy, that's great mate - I really appreciate your help! New sight looks and works great! Cheers Stew
Pathy 0 Posted January 16, 2009 I've updated the old download link with another version, it has the flash removed altogether - I don't have the old rifles to test out, so thats the easiest way of "fixing" it. Downside is you don't get the muzzle flash, but then I can't ever recall firing an SA80 and seeing muzzle flash whilst looking through the SUSAT anyway, except at night....even when firing blanks and deliberately coating the flash supressor in weapon oil to see how big a flame I could get. Glad its working though. Oh and np. Hopefully soon i'll be able to roll out the updated weapons too
SaBrE_UK 0 Posted January 16, 2009 I also found with the ported weapons, the scope didn't seem to have enough zoom, unless the ArmA ACOGs have far too much zoom (both are 4X AFAIK). Didn't have the problem in OFP. But as you say they're not supported and I'll just wait for the new ones.
Pathy 0 Posted January 16, 2009 I'll look into it, but i've never noticed it myself.
Daniel 0 Posted January 16, 2009 Zoom isnt too bad, I always found the ACOG in ArmA difficult to use. The widescreen fix is really appreciated, thanks!
Pathy 0 Posted January 21, 2009 Well, over the last few pages, Messys shown off his Jackals and Orsons shown off his Warriors, the AS90 and the Pinz. Guess its my turn! It may sound odd, but this is an addon i'm not really happy with; the quality isn't all that great (for various reasons to do with texel limits) and I've wanted to redo large swathes of it for a long time. However...even if we redo it, we figure might as well not waste the work we've done on this version, so we'll swallow our pride, and release what we've got so far as 1.0 with the intention of bringing it up to standard later with a 2.0 release. No promises, but I'm aiming to have this, in its rather substandard state, out of the door within two weeks.
ck-claw 1 Posted January 21, 2009 You may not be happy with it mate. But im sure the comunity will be damn happy to have a challenger released! Well Done!
