2nd Beta 1.07.5157 feedback thread

Well my PC barely meets the minimum specs for ArmA (P4 2.4gig CPU, 1024MB PC2700 DDR RAM, ATI 9800Pro 128MB). I've seen a MASSIVE performance boost from 1.07 beta plus the hotfix. 1.04 ran reasonably well out of the box for me (considering my PC's specs) but 1.05 had almost made it unplayable (textures not loading poor framerates etc).

Although most everything still has to be set low or very low, with 1.07 I can turn shadows and antialiasing on and have increased view distance to about 1500m. Had no problems with crashes and instances of none or slow loading textures have decreased dramatically from 1.05. Still get noticable FPS drops in large towns (Paraiso and Corozol) but that's down to my hardware and no fault of the software.

1.07 seems to me to be a great step forward, and with the possibility of a new high spec PC a couple of months way the future's looking bright to me at the moment.

the tow needs alot of work!! look at americas army.. the game.. you see that it locks on and can fire by shooting strait in the air and hitting it on top. or just by going straight at it. when i play arma and use the juvalin it feels like a toy.. in americas army it felt like a high tech machine blowing a tank to shreads..

It will be cool if it was the evne more realistic by first peircing the tanks then blowing up. but i guess that is a little to munch to ask for one weapon, huh.

anyway forget all the typos. i was typing fast.

TOW != Javelin.

The TOW is like the opposite of the Javelin. The TOW guides via wires, and you basically set the sights on where you want it to hit, and it goes there, but you can move it; and you also have to keep it there during the duration of the flight.

The Javelin you get the seeker head locked on, fire and move. Although, the Javelin needs MAJOR work- like you said it should have the capability to do both attacks and please, for the love of Jesus H. Christ, an image for it. Also a sight too!!!

chopper (uh 60) --> setfuel 0 = the crew disembark . chopper setfuel 1 ---> the crew enters BUT like driver , gunner and CARGO (not second gunner )

I find a bug who make the game crash. (tested in Rhamadi at starting point location, two soldier of the same team)

1. Put a satchel near a soldat (Friend), then go to 100m and detonate it. Watch him fly

2. Put a satchel near the dead soldier (dead friend), then go to 100m and detonate it. Watch fly and boom crash...

I don't know if it's my hard or is it the soft, but i'm my pc this make crash the game...

Well the game seems to crash after 5 minute of playing, in editor & in armori, i didn't know the cause...

The 1.50 didn't do that...

its a bug or a feature: confused_o.gif

- empty SU-34 has lights on at night

- rain in houses

- RPG soldier + M136 soldier shooting at each other

- Shilka has only one tracer

- no cockpit for motorcycle

One suggestion to place a explosives with AI-Specialist - make an option like [place the bomb at target].

Stealth should be stealth, like hold fire no firing gun is. So you can go into enemy base or camp, place satchels and leave this area silent....

rain in houses that is an engine limitation, would of been kickass if it didnt becuase it means you could hide out of that bad weather ^^ although it doesnt rain inside vehicles.

Joystick buttons still unmappable, only a few. Saitek. Worked before these.

One thing that bugs me is being sniped out of a helicopter pilot seat. A BMP does damage, a BRDM more damage and a UAZ is certain death. Then the pesky machine gunners, im becoming very scared of flying around lately.

On the other hand the Kamov flies away scared of my unarmed MH-6 huh.gif .

And i recently noticed that when i drop a RPG-7 on the ground i also drop nice looking rockets, would be quite good if all ammo was like this (instead of the OPF satchels).

Im enjoying patch 1.07 quite a bit, love the new faces and the traffic lights were a nice touch smile_o.gif .

Questions:

1) Are these beta patches for the US version?

2) If not, are there any for the US version?

Many in-game freezes and some CTD's on brand new notebook:

Vista

Intel T7200 core 2 duo 2.0ghz

2GB ram

nvidia 7900 gs 256mb

I find it more likely that your laptop, specifically the OS and it's somewhat poor driver support, to be the issue.

You might want to make sure you have the most current video card drivers. I have had experience with a laptop running Vista and there are many issues that need to be ironed out, especially with that specific video card and Nvidia's drivers.

Not sure if this has been raised but occasionally the MK19 Hummer fires grenades but nothing comes out the barrel. She's a shooting blanks..

Actually the Mk19 nades sometimes deflect upon impact with the ground, then explode on next impact with something.

Nah I've experimented with this, the nade def doesn't come out the barrel but the sound still triggers. I've fired point blank into buildings with no damage to either me, the hummer or the building

Same here, is it supposed to be like this for this beta? I have an x52 and its doing all sorts of weird things, some buttons cant be mapped and seem to have there own programming that you cant change...like scrolling through the menu and "fire" activating options...very irritating

The real 40mm grenades have a steback distance on their arming. They should not detonate when they are close enough to damage the shooter.

I just threw together a hasty encounter on the new Afganistan by Deanosbeanos, and found a few issues:

1- An air attack group selected out of the group menu has major issues keeping a smooth flight together unless you specify 'FULL' speed.  There's a LOT of swooping ahead 50-75m and waiting up for the others to get in formation.  There is also an issue with the search and destroy WP, I could not get all helos to engage. They traveled to the 'move' WP, and stayed there, not progressing to the S&D.

2-Also, when zooming in, I noticed this little bugger on the M1.  The tracks are showing through the model.

p><p>Besides these minor issues,  The only thing bugging me is the exacting precision and awareness that MGhttp://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif' alt='wink_o.gif'>   If this is the way it is for Hog drivers, I have much more respect for them than I had a week or so ago.  confused_o.gif

Scrub, that track visible is due to the game's use of Z-buffer method instead of the more precise (but obsolete) W-buffer method.

You'll see common examples of this in game including bare heads through helmets and the like. It's not special to 1.07 in the slightest. Just a heads up.

Those 'traffic lights' at the end of the runway at the airbase need to work during the day as well as at night so that incoming pilots get visual feedback as in RL, at all times.

Tested the beta with GF8800 and no problems at all smile_o.gif

It seems that the latest pacth causes graphics problems only

with the older DirectX9 cards.
