Hyk modern u.s. infantry pack released

Recommended Posts

and i know people hate this but the USMC are part of the dept of the navy and are under the navy chain of command.

the USMC is not really a branch of the armed forces or dept it is mainly the ground forces of the navy.

sigh.

Repeating a lie doesn't make it truth.

The USMC is part of the Dept of the Navy. The USN is part of the Dept of the Navy. They both have the same civilian leader, the Secretary of the Navy.

They DO NOT have the same military chain of command. Period.

The Marine chain of command follows up through the Commandant of the Marine Corps, who is a member of the Joint Chiefs.

The Navy chain of command follows up through the Chief of Naval Operations, who is a member of the Joint Chiefs.

A USN officer has no chain of command authority over any USMC unit, unless he holds a JOINT command billet (ESF).

The Commandant of the Marine Corps is equal to the Chief of Naval Operations, Chief of Staff of the Army, and Chief of Staff of the USAF.

The USMC is a branch of the armed forces. It is not subordinated by, controlled by, or superceded by the USN. They are SISTER services of the Dept of the Navy.

The only naval infantry force in the US military is the SEALs. They are naval personnel, sign a Navy contract, but fight on the ground instead of aboard ship or aircraft. Their chain of command runs through the CNO. No Marine chain of command goes through the CNO.

The previous post about Dept of Treasury and any uniforms...total la-la land. Only members of the Unites States Marine Corps are authorized to wear the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia. Navy folks wearing cammies do not have the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor on the chest pocket. Ditto on the soft cover.

Bah, just noticed somthing while editing the config...

In Laser+JAM weapons set...only a few units (i.e. snipers) whom are actually using JAM magazines. Becuase originaly I thought they were going to be Laser compilation with JAM mags, not just Laser's. Perty much the the whole pack uses LSR_***mags. rock.gif Ahh well its not a big deal, I can edit em easily smile_o.gif

Time to equip these dudes with COMBAT! Javline and Dragons (85 units) wink_o.gif

Easy, edit the units yourself...

Rather than harrass the addon-maker cause your too damn _lazy_ to do it yourself.

Many people don't have the time, talent, or inclination to fiddle with junk in O2. This is a topic to discuss Hyk's addon, discussion includes "wishes".

Why it would offend you that other people post wishes is curious...

they're awsome. i was playing ofp today and didnt know which forces to use, so i went through a trial and error phaise, and this addon won. biggrin_o.gif

some pointers:

could you maybe either lower the backpacks, remove them or add a game logic item that allows us to remove the backpacks?

in the sucheys marine pack, the way the backpacks look in that, are awsome. but to be honest, backpacks arent really that fun in OFP. its making me not want to use the SF dudes, except the CQB dude. :/

and i agree with the menu thing, too many things in the menu becomes a drag. dont put it in the menu area please D:

overall, 8/10. would be 10, but the backpacks... oi... :/ nice one though.

oh yea, and all i need now are UKF marine commandos / sas / sbs / recce units in Desert DPM and woodland DPM. then i'll be 100% satisfied.....

(although the wolf 110's would also be cool aswel.. :o)

at the moment, the UKF DPM pack, and the Hyk US Infantry pack are probably the best around. thats just my opinion, though.

I really like those backpacks, especially on 2003' specialforces, but I agree that it would be nice to have a version without them. Or perhaps it able to have a add/remove option in the init-line without showing up in the actionmenu. (only for missionmakers...)

I agree Fingolfin, the backpacks are great.

I would also like to see an init command/script call to add/remove appearance items rather than an action.

I stopped using the UKF troops because of the spammed action menu (and the encrypted pbos)- most of the items of that action menu won't be used ONCE during a mission. It should either be configured through init lines, or with a collapsing action menu system so it can be hidden/reduced to just one action menu item.

Also, backpacks should not take an inventory space. That would be a bad solution.

I only have one minor thing to mention about this pack and that is the SF silenced sniper unit.I would of prefered him without the backpack as this would hinder him.Like i said its only a minor fault.

Well would have thought you at least would have just updaed a pack of them on your own rather. Just none of HYKs units are in the chemical protection threat levels so all the NBC gears is still in the carriers and such.

I've made my own NBC but using US bis standard uniforms. Of course that with this uniforms and a proper research work they could become much better and close to reality smile_o.gif

The man in beret makes an excellent intelligence officer.  Thats for those scenes when I really want interaction between american and resistance or civillian forces and can't use my soldiers and don't want to make a cutscene, i just use my intel officer and have him safely escorted to a chopper.  Very nice.

Edit: Personally I have no problem with the soldiers coming with backpacks permanently on especially if they are special forces because of their long missions behind enemy lines. It's no an option to not wear a backpack with three days worth of gear at the least. You can always imagine that theres a radio in their backpack somewhere. Don't want there to be, make a briefing saying it broke. Even do like me and use sound files from the original campaign like the one where the radio actually does break...im going too far.

Well backpacks are great, but a version of them without backpack's would be great. 'Cause you see, it would be a hell in a sweep type of mission to carry backpack. Also it would be great to see 2003 Rangers and Airborne unit's with backpacks, 'cause they could backpacks.

Otherwise, best unit's I've ever seen in OFP. Now, I would like to see updated Y2K3 mod, so ORCS and your work would make it even greater.

I like the backpacks, a game logic or something in the init line would be good, just to give you more choice, but dont get rid of them.

Wouldnt they all look a bit too similar if all the units had/didnt had backpacks, i know there are other things that difer in them but we do have SFCQB units in the pack, i honestly think its fine the way he did it smile_o.gif .

Now a working backpack that could carry extra goodies like explosives, extra ammo and health packs would be something, hopefully Hyk will still be with us by the time OPF2 comes out biggrin_o.gif .

Well it could be like a texture hide / show option.  Also throw in the tortured captive and boom you got a pretty good update.  No, also throw in some short sleeved units for african and desert missions or jungle missions too.

shortsleves are bad since no matter how good a mod is the flesh tone never matches the face and jsut looks weird.

bad idea.

besides us soldiers in combat mostly wear the shleves down.

only when they are working in non-combat do they wear the shleves up.

Agree on this, most of them don't look good except the soldiers from SEBnam pack, Tonal and the TSF pack.

But I think short sleeves will be nice smile_o.gif

The reason they look good on the seb nampack is because they use a skinsample from the face to texture the arms. This could be done with these guys. Basically, a small texture area from the cheek, for example, is wrapped around the arms and thus matches the skin tone.
