The site has a little intro now, and the flashing picture in the backround shows a soldier with a steel helmet fiering what looks like an M60 (I could be wrong). Perhaps Vietnam is a more likely setting now.

So, where are the hardcore nerds, that can identify the soldier, uniform, equipment and/or camouflage, to tell us the time and location by looking on that picture?

Not found by me...

http://www.codemasters.com/flashpoint2/uk/operationflashpoint2.php

http://www.vietnampix.com/faces2a.htm

http://www.vietnampix.com/

If it is really vietnam I'm really sorry about that... Not buying. If this idea is originated from Operation Vietnam I feel like rubbing faces of jan joris, sevent and co to asphalt  smile.gif

... Especially if this is what operation vietnam has become...

The M60 was only made in 1950, but i cant find any mention of it being used in Korea (Which ended in 1953), also as the soldier is wearing the M1 helmet and is in a South East Asia type setting, i think we can definitely say its going to be vietnam...

BIS also updated their site w/ Flashpoint 2 now:

http://www.bistudio.com/games.html

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Operation Flashpoint 2, a true sequel to the million-selling military simulator, is in design and development by Bohemia Interactive. Focussing on another theatre of modern-historical warfare, Operation Flashpoint 2 will introduce 2nd generation Flashpoint Engine for the ultimate military gaming experience with even more realism, freedom and immersion than the original Operation Flashpoint.

Hey, don't panic biggrin.gif Just wait for E3 and we will see which background OFP2 is gonna have; and even if it will be vietnam based, why don't you want to buy a great game?

Well, personally, I'd hoped for a more "fresh" scenario. Something like a conflict in Eastern Europe or maybe Korea.

Every second developer is making a Vietnam game nowadays.

I also exlains why things have gotten very silent around Operation Vietnam, yes.

Ah well, I will buy it anyways though. wink.gif

Yeah, I hope it's not going to be nam based. I was hoping for something more current. We've been playing a ton of SEB Nam Pack stuff, and now I'm starting to tire of the NAM-era war machine.

I`d rather see Kosovo or Chechnya but those situations are more hot and sensitive to people thats also something to keep in mind...even though it would only be a game playing a campaign from Chechnya would leave me with a bad taste in my moth because it ain`t over yet .

Vietnam is ok , but I I hope we get some decent cities , not only jungle wow.gif , and I mean hopefully bigger then the Villages in OPf , Resistance showed improvement though .

Oh I wonder what the more freedom thing means..lmao is that possible biggrin.gif

The problem with more modern conflicts is city battles, which means more detail, which means more polygons, which means less people are able to play due to the high system requirements, Vietnam or something similar suits the ofp engine, the major fixed wing role was close air support, helicopters were the main transport which ofp does really well, also most battles were platoon-company size which ofp also does well, im just wondering what the new engine will bring...

Well if it is Vietnam, good luck to them. The SEB team got there first, and done a mighty fine job at it too, only thing lacking was anything remotely like a jungle....Hopefully OFP2 can give us better enviroments and better CQB in buildings in this new project.

I will buy game anyway, even if it will look sucky, I am OFP fan for 2 years, and ain't gonna miss OFP:2 when it comes out.

Besides, I play multiplayer primarly so it wouldn't matter if it's Vietnam or not, as long as physics and graphics are improved.

I think it will be something like vietnam.. i mean.. Evis said the helmet thing.. and it looks asian too..

And it will be a recreation of a real event:

Look at the BIS page about ofp2.. it says

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">

Main Features

-Experience the intensity of modern-historical warfare

-Drive and fly authentic vehicles and aircraft

-Command large squads with plenty of tactical and strategic options

-Play the campaign or solo missions

-Explore large battlezones based on real locations

-Create your own mission and scenarios using intuitive built-in mission editor

-Full multiplayer support

<span id='postcolor'>

Only thing that puzzles me is that modern-historical.. what do they mean by that??

I wouldn´t overestimate the importance of that pic, but there´s NO WAY IN HELL that I´m buying an OFP2 set in Vietnam, not because it´s not a good game, but because BIS has sould its soul to Codemasters.

But we´ll see how this thing develops.
