RamaMarines 148 Posted July 9, 2017 Hey everyone! It is time for me to show you my truck, M35A2 Kaiser-Jeep, 1964 issue. Since we don't have any commuity made G742 (M34/M35/M36), I've decided to create a common framework for these vehicles and gradually develop their options. This truck was the workhorse of the US Army in the mid to late 90s and had several different modifications for the M35 truck only. I'm not talking about other options M35 series family (tanker, remotly truck, water carrier and others) that also had a lot of modifications. At the moment, it is suitable for many scenarios, the Vietnam War, the escalation of the conflict in Panama, Operation "Desert Storm", the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and almost everywhere the American soldier's foot came. The truck had several incarnations and configurations and was produced by several different manufacturers. More screens: Spoiler I am currently planning 3 different eras/versions of the M35: War in Vietnam: M35A2 with metal roofed driver compartment with/without tarp, tarp roof driver compartment with/without tarp, without a roof with the possibility of lowering the front glass, option with a M2 .50cal machine gun on the M36 Ring Mount. Well, the famous guntrucks, with the reservation and with different weapons, from the dual machine guns M2, dual M60 to minigun. Also, a low-armored dumbbell with a quarter-machine gun M2 - M55 is planned. Anything I can find documented of Vietnam War gun trucks from the various branches. The consequence of the Vietnam war 70s-80s: more of the same but with different camo, U.S. army, for different divisions and other operators from other countries. 90s and present: M35A2 with metal roof with/without tarp, with a rag roof with awning / without an awning and various gantraks on its base, for armies still expropriating M35A2 (Israil, Georgia, Venezuela, Philippines, Kongo, Iraq and others), as well as trucks of any insurgents (African, South American, Thai rebels and others, to countries that were supplied by the M35), terrorists (Taliban, the Islamic state (I saw a couple of M35 taken from the Iraqi army in Syria and Iraq, several more captured in the Philippines by local terrorists from ISIS and etc), Somali terrorists of the 90s and the present and others) You may suggest any liveries or nations + other ideas and variations and I may implement them if I like them. Also, would like to make different variants of the M35, many were made, such as M36 (with stretch), M49 (gasoline tank), the M50 (the water carrier), M109 (Shop Van), M60 (light wrecker), М59 (Dump), as well as other options (M34, M44, M45, M46, M48, М108, М257 and many others). It is also possible to create on the basis of it a future modification of the M35A3 and South Korean modified trucks K-511, K-511A1 Also, I would be glad if you will subscribe to my ArtStation: https://www.artstation.com/artist/ramamarines If you have anything that may help me, be it research and technical information, reference material or other assistance, I'd appreciate the help. I'll be back with more updates soon!

scimitar 221 Posted July 10, 2017 Very nice. I drove these and the M109 Shop Van variant quite a bit back in the mid 80's. This is the truck that should have been in Operation Flashpoint as the primary US soft skinned troop carrier, rather than the M939 5 ton truck that was used. Historically, the "deuce and a half" was much more prevalent as a troop carrier and light cargo hauler in the mid 80s time frame of that game than the 5 ton was. As great a game as OFP was, there were some historical liberties taken. BTW, when Conflict '85 is released, I hope that you will consider making a config to replace the 5 ton trucks in that game with your M35 variants.

Bitesrad 481 Posted July 16, 2017 Extreme impressive! The details and not to mention the overall quality are really fantastic. I'm not really knowledgeable on trucks, but this is the predecessor of OFP's US truck, isnt it?
bludski 4421 Posted July 16, 2017 Hi guys! Since Rama doesn't speak English, (he is Russian) and uses google translate to communicate with us, I will help out with some communication! We are currently looking for somebody to help out with custom sounds for the truck. If you have experience creating sounds for vehicles and would like to help out, Please contact either RamaMarines or me directly and we will get you a link to my discord. If you know anyone good who would be willing to lend a hand, please have them get in touch! -blud

So he wrote a message in some U.S. forum with "this type of truck" owners and asked them to record. The cheapest way is to rip the sounds from youtube videos - but the quality will be awful.

scimitar 221 Posted September 15, 2017 This project is continuing to look very good. As a one time operator of the M35 and some of it's variants, I'm really looking forward to seeing these in game and hopefully seeing them in some of the camouflage schemes appropriate for western Europe. While recently going through some old photo albums, I found the following image and thought that this would be a good thread to share it in. The image is from 9/85, while we were on a training exercise near Panzer Kaserne in Germany. I'm the young 20 year old PFC in the passenger seat of the M109 shop van variant of the M35. Of interest but not necessarily of importance as far as the mod is concerned, is the chalked convoy numbers and letters on the doors of the vehicle. I don't recall what the importance of the numbers and letters were or what they denoted but I recall seeing them on the doors of all US Army vehicles that were traveling in convoys in Germany while I was there (84-86). Also of interest might be the inverted M16A1 rifles that were mounted in clips near the doors on either side of the vehicle cab. Since many of the mods coming out in the future concern Cold War era troops and vehicles (much of it inspired by OFP and it's 1985 time frame), it's worth noting for historical significance (but not mod relevance) is that the rifles are indeed M16A1 variants with 20 round magazines and that the standard combat helmet in Germany at the time was still the old steel pot. By the end of the year we had switched to 30 round magazines and in January of 86, we transitioned to the new Kevlar helmets. I never once saw an M16A2 or an M9 Beretta before 1987 nor did I see an M1 Abrams tank in Germany before Reforger 86.
