Arma 3 STABLE Server 2.18 "profiling / performance binary" feedback

Recommended Posts

just try the v2 server and client, i can't tell if that fix any issue cause i never had issues with the 1.68.
There is no better performance.

What is the profiling branch ? its like experimental ?

profiling exe has bug traps so it is easier to solve issues....

For launching the game, which parameters are important now?

Which allocator is the better one?

The parameters are all available in the launcher by now. I personaly have best experience with system memory allocator on Win10.

But I also question if -enableHT is still needed?

Just tried the 64-bit 141067 v5 performance binary to see if it would fix the consistent 64-bit crashing I've experienced, but unfortunately it keeps occuring when client-hosting as decribed in the feedback ticket. Haven't been able to try connecting to dedicated servers with other players, but if I get the chance I'll report back on the results.

I think duplication is easier than ever with 64bits

Taking vest at the same time

One player have to disconnect to "fix" the vest

Taking backpack at the same time with item in it

One player have to disconnect to "fix" the backpack

Some players reported that it only work with backpack and some weapon like the katiba

Apologies, I had already put a couple of zips in the feedback ticket but I should have included it in my initial post here.

Yesterday I connected to a King of the Hill server and played there for about 30 minutes without any issues. Today I cleared out my logs and mission cache and connected to official King of the Hill server #1 with no issues as well. I will continue testing out different parameters, servers and addons to see if I can reproduce the crashes.

it was more aimed on to ensure they from 1.68.141067 and all 3 are included ...

sadly some of the previously posted report files contain just old crashdumps and new logs but neither for both ;)

Damnit, my bad. Now that I've cleared my logs and cache I'll upload another zip if I can reproduce the crashes, but it seems promising so far with the latest version.

Not related to 64 bits but to the last update...

+ This topic is not for that kind of feedbacks but only the ones related to the topic (AKA perf binary)

Havent had much problems to be honest, run a dedicated linux server on a old machine i got.

the only error i seem to get sometimes at #shutdown is:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Poco::SystemException'
  what():  System exception

No other information in the logs are showing what this might cause. what? yeeh what() ?

Otherwise, i'd like to say, the performance editions are getting better and better. Keep up the good work!

note: due to some fixes, it's recommended to try this build first before reporting crashes on any older builds

note: some of the minor fixes from previous profiling aren't in 1.68 hotfix thus it's better to use performance binary

Lastest performance v7 works great on linux server.

I am running a single installation w/ symlinks to different users homes and it works like a charm.

Just in case here is a proper launch log (only @extDB2 as additional mod) https://hastebin.com/ehitipilex.sql

A quick tip for linux users if you just don't want to bother and only wget the binary, I used http://www.technorange.com/cloudlinker-direct-link-generator-for-dropboxgoogle-driveone-drive-copy-com/ to convert the dropbox link to a direct downloadable one (It doawnloads the file and not the website :q).

Will x64 hit linux perf binaries one day ?

well because you run extDB2 then i suggest to move on extDB3 too

(i keep repeating myself on that again - there is reason extDB2 is obsolete)

64-bit linux when ready, for now no ETA defined

I'm just providing hosting for some friends, they use whatever addons they want lol.

I agree with you, I had already converted my life server to extDB3 syntax months ago. Still it is obsolete but extDB3 lacks some functions extDB2 has, well only used by high end users but usefull enough to be used at all. I would so give anything I have for a damn PostgreSQL Connector. (I'm soo lazy to get into C++).

Did you guys though about introducing a native Connector into the game ? Might solve many problems as most of the servers out there are using databases, or at least storing data on the server (w/ iniDb or profileNamespace).

EDIT : Does Bohemia uses databases for one of their gamemode ?
