What would you like to see in ofp2

Recommended Posts

Make bases base like in missions. (lot's of defences and activity just to immerse the player and give it a slight RPG feel - for example you are told to meet the patrol on the grounds in five minutes - so you walk around the base getting ammo and info about the enemy and maybe try and find some extra medical supplies etc.)

People here are saying they want to make a difference by getting in their AH-1 but in real life a sole AH-1 would be blotted out the sky in seconds, yes make damage in the campaign but still make the player rely on teamwork.

Tweak the ai a bit, e.g faster targeting and don't make their entire body move (including tanks) just to shoot someone. Lot's of new animations to give everything a fluid motion would be appreciated. The terrain is fine in detail when i look at it but rivers with with bends and more intricate features would give it a lot more character plus soldiers more cover.

The game physics engine should be improved in OFP2, mainly to stop the 6 ton vehicles bouncing when they hit the kerb.

Helicopters and planes should have a realistic flight model option so advanced players can do real flying in apaches etc.

Also give the flight controls an option of larger null zone and sensitivity because i'm sick of just touching the pedal and the helicopter swinging 180 in a second. Also with more speed the tail rotor loses effect so you shouldn't have people on multiplayer blasting into a landing zone at 250 knots and then swivel to a perfect hover. In real life they would keep on going and would end up flying at 250 knots backwards!

I don't know if some of these issues could be adressed in a patch without lot's of effort but if they could please do.

I would like to see:-

British troops including equipment like challenger 2s and warrios, scimitars etc. I feel that OFP is too limited with only US  ,USSR  and resistance troops (and dont say anything about addons).

More realistic ammo carrying:- Missiles - If an SAS soldier can have a stinger launcher and 4 spare missiles strapped to his back (in addition to a bergen) a regular soldier should be able to carry at least 2 imo.

In real life a medic can carry more than 4 mags and a pistol.

More planes - WE NEED MORE!

Static MG posts: How many MG positions look like that static m2? An MG on a pole with no cover. Honestly! Lets have an MG in a bunker like the nam people have.

I would like to see more scripted input/output, so that you could read and write files from scripts to make better use of campaign elements etc.

And I would to see good engine for add-on makers. Just new engine for access to make every vehicle working that like in our world.

While were at it why don't we add the German Army, the French Army, the Russian Federation, the Swiss Army, the Italian Army, the Canadian Army, the Chinese Army, the Finnish Army, the Czeckoslovakian Army, the Brazilian Army, the Iraqi Army, the Mexican Army, the Israeli Army, etc.

You do one European Country, every OFP Player's going end up having to buy a new harddrive, because every other OFP player's gonna complain about their country not being in it.

To be more realistic, add UN troops with varied vehicles.

1. I don't know if anyones mentioned this but, Multi-Turret/gun support.(Mg on a tank, Destroyer)

2. Standing in/on moving vehicles(You try standing inside of the BAS MH-47 while its moving!)

3. Ability to transport vehicles with other vehicles(Utility Landing Craft, Transport Planes, etc. Maybe it could be done in the same way as #2 above)

4. Fix the weapon ballistics!(A 5.56N(M16) is far underpowered compared to a .308(7.62N; M21))

5. Better sounds. Vehicles and Weapons.(I prefered the old CWC M16 sound to this new Res. sound)

6. Underwater(You cannot tell me that i'm dead if I eject over water; You can't tell me that Marines and SEALs can't swim!)

- An easy way to choose a Vehicle Loadout or Camo.

- 1rst person animations, I mean you do the gun you do the reload animation of the gun you do the animation when the gun fires and you don´t have to fit it in the soldiers arms because it has to be the same animation for 1rst and 3rd person. Just like any other FPS out there !(I think Game Developers understand what I´m trying to say)

- Make the game more Modable, not so restricted. And please when it comes out don´t make us wait a year and an Expansion for the SDKs to come out.

- A better way to enter the Vehicle, like when pressing a key or something you just enter in the Vehicle´s first slot available and then you care in which position you want to be. The Action Menu is so damn slow.

- A lot more of Hotkeys assignable. Like when switching from Riffle to a Launcher.

- Make it possible for an Animation to stop anytime, it´s damn unappealing to wait for the animation of a soldier in a vehicle to end before he dies.

- Better Collision detection, please.

- Real Armor penetration system, this one can be implemented as a difficulty option.

But I can´t complain though, OFP is still a unique and kick-ass game. I think BIS has learned a lot in this years, and hopefully they will do a better job next time.

Geez, I forgot all the cool ideas that ocurred me to make the game better, when I rember them I will return to post them.

I don´t know if anyone has mentioned this before, but here I go.

I think you got that the wrong way round, but then again you may not, the ballistics in the game seem very messed up, although i asked one BIS employee why they didnt change it and i was told it was because all the missions would act differently, 7.62's like the FN FAL and G3 have very low damage, less than a 5.56 rifle, but then a G36 a 5.56 rifle does a hell of a lot of damage

AFAIK this is possible now, you should see something like this on the M249 in the BAS Delta/Ranger packs

Thats saying that a 5.56mm(.223;a high-speed .22LR) is more effective than a much larger 7.62mm round. Most sniper rifles use 7.62 rounds(.308, 30-06, 7.62x54R, etc).

You can debate the same thing with 9x19mm and .45 pistol/handguns.

The 5.56x45 has excellent armor piercing ability, but the tissue damage isn't so great.

The 7.62mm rounds as used in old battle rifles(M1 Garand,30-06;M14,.308) can effectively turn whatever they hit into pulp and soft lead tips could tear off limbs(Although, that would be inhumane).

I have only one sugestion;

The model is holding his weapon away from his shoulders, they can fix this in patch its only one little fix.

thats why we dont see a weapon good ....Bis should improwe the position of hands in this playmove:

-standing

-crounching

-liedown

pk762.jpg

In OPF2 the swiming would be good....

Sometimes they do, but they refuse to reveal any future plans for some reason. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I once mentioned a long time ago that I would like to have support for carrying wounded on stretchers, loading them into vehicles and aircraft, etc.

Stretcher bearers would not be able to run as fast as regular soldiers.

This offers opportunities for all sorts of mission scenarios. If medics are left off the team, it would mean that the only hope is to get the soldier to a medic or MASH tent, which may be distant.

On the same line of thinking, if someone reaches a certain level of injury, that soldier should be incapacitated so that they can't even crawl anymore. In other words, the only chance for survival is to be evacuated by stretcher or get a medic to him.

I'm sure you can all refine the ideas even more.

I like this idea - but maybe only as an option. It could be a lot of fun if you're looking for a realistic infantry sim (which I think most of us that are still around are), but for the casual gamer it might be a burden.

Very few people actually get killed in infantry combat outright, most casualties are WIAs which need medical attention and evacuation. I hate to make this cliched reference, but look at Blackhawk Down - many of the deaths from that battle were people who were originally just wounded and couldn't receive proper medical attention. It is a very modern problem for squad and platoon leaders.

1) No matter what magazine you set the weapon to be able to 'load', it should not effect the weapon, for example M4A1 could take M16 mags etc. but not turn into a M16

2) The ability to 'run' while crouched, like keeping your head down.

3) Working bipods

4) The ability to have multiple MG, main cannon etc. firing... for example so you could on tank, have a coaxial MG and a AA MG on top.

5) The ability for the commander to use the AA MG on top of a tank (see #4)

6) The ability to make certain weapons not reloadable, so we could make realistic LAW 72's, RPG's.

7) When a weapon has a magazine loaded, it doesnt take up a slot in the inventory, since its in the weapon.

8) More slots in the inventory, 10 slots is far to little

In addition to my previous post (Which has been updated with this)

I would like to see a more revealing scoring system

Individuals score should be made up of the following system

(No of kills (Infantry Air Armour) + Flags captured) - Teamkills = Total Score

At the moment the number of team kills is not taken into consideration

and

there is no column for flag captures, runs etc

Having these things taken into consideration would show the real worth of a player

New classes, between walking and sprinting, would be good for not only strechers, but for many types.

-AT with extra load

-AA soldier with load.

-Engineers with 4 mines

and many advanced ADDONS with customized loadouts according to specialised troops.

Imagine five different load-thresholds, forcing the CO to decide between

1 light and swift

2 light and pretty swift

3 Medium

4 Heavy and kinda of slow.

5 Full fire power, but really slow.

Make the radio system more fluid and dynamic with lot's more variation in speech.

For example if you have 3 blackops on stealth mode holding fire and you are 20 ft away from enemy infantry don't you think it's a bad idea to yell down your radio "2, move to EF45"?

Maybe have whispers or hand signals and if have a mode where they are holding fire but will open up if compromised instead of having to have you set their engagement manually.

Just tweak the AI and team commands to make it a lot more fluid and realistic.

did anyone mention it would be cool if OFP could do more than one event at the same time; fire multiple bullets without "reloading" between them so we could have realistic shotguns wink.gif

I'm getting tired of the M203... let's sling a remington under there! tounge.gif
